Hon. Noble Eyisi, a Political Science undergraduate
of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, UNIZIK, has
emerged the new president-elect of the university's
Students' Union Government (SUG). Hon. Eyisi
polled a total of 594 votes to defeat other
contestants in an election that took place today.
Also, Ozems Amarachi Precious of the department
of Accountancy emerged the the SUG Vice-
President Elect. Ozems Amarachi polled a total of
521 votes to defeat other contestants.
The law faculty suffered a great set back due to
the inability of the faculty's students' leadership to
support a single candidate. Five of the presidential
contestants are undergraduates of the law faculty.
Another faculty that was punished by the poll due
to their inability to produce a single candidate to
contest for the post of Vice President is the
Education Faculty.
Even if the total number of votes polled by
presidential and vice presidential contestants from
law and education faculties are less than the total
number of votes polled by respective winners of
those positions, they would have been more
mobilised to get more votes if they unanimously
supported one candidate each from their faculties.
They should learn some lessons from social
sciences. The faculty technically produced two
candidates for presidential contest but
unanimously supported one candidate (Eyisi Noble)
at the poll.
