Beji Essebsi, 88 year old opposition leader defeated the incumbent president to become the first freely elected president of Tunisia. This is a good pointer that incumbency does not really matter in elections. Candidate's integrity and popularity are more important than incumbency. GEJ should forget about incumbency factor; it will not work. 1 Like |

If Beji Essebsi who is 88 year old opposition leader could defeat the incumbent president in Tunisia; Muhammadu Buhari, 72year old opposition candidate can equally defeat the incumbent president of Nigeria. Incumbency is no more the ultimate factor in elections. 1 Like |

TrishaP: Its all over the media; Essebsi won with 55.7% while Mazourki (incumbent) got 44.3%. CNN, BBC, and France24 are my sources. 2 Likes |
