GOVERNOR SABO BAKIN ZUWO, KANO STATE
He was a former Senator, elected Governor in 1983
defeating exGov Rimi. Boxes full of cash ranging from
$4.5 million was found in his residence. He was convicted
for 21 years for accepting bribe in a property deal(along
with Rimi), and was commuted to a cummulative 300
years in prison for embezzlement of Kano fund. He died in
1989.
APER AKU, BENUE STATE
There was Aper Aku with his trade mark baldhead, looking
dazed as he was sentenced to 21 years for borrowing
N50,000, yes, fifty thousand Naira from Benue Breweries,
a company established and run by his government. The
prosecutors had argued that the Benue Breweries belong
to the Benue People. He died in 1988 shortly after his
release by General Ibrahim Babangida.

It was a crime as at then by decree 4 for journalists/print

The Oputa Panel was to identify persons and institutions responsible for the human rights violations, assess their effects on victims and the general society, and recommend appropriate measures to redress past injustices and prevent future violations. It was more of a peace talk and for your Buhari to avoid a peace talk shows a lot of dictatorship in him.

And this is the man you want to benefit from the same democracy at the highest level?

The man has no democratic credentials, his ideas are rooted in the medieval era. What is the difference between the public flogging of thieves in Somalia and the flogging of Nigerians for not queueing up to buy milk or sugar in shops? That is how archaic the man's ideas are.

Accept it or not, there is no basis for apology for doing what is right, government policies and programmes always come with merit and demerit it, depends on which side you find yourself-therefore removing an incompetent government from power for reasons of embezzlement and corruption can be justified as even the major actors of the deposed government have overtime believed that what Buhari did as of that time was morally right. Its part of civilization to queue for services especially in advance countries, many of our country men can withstand the long queues in major airports around the world but the moment they set foot in nigerian they turn rascals. And lastly, Oputa panel was a sham. I Hope it has healed your wound-the inflicted on you by the military. Remain blessed!

Under law nothing built on illegality can stand-as it was shown by the desolation of the panel by a court of competent jurisdiction. Therefore, by partaking in such forum that is not recognised by any giving law is acting in support of illegality. The Oputa panel even at its initial stage did not in any possible way addressed the reasons you highlighted above-let's take the kudirat/almustapha scenerio whereby the two persons that carried out her murder were absolved by the panel and almustapha whom was alleged to be the chief conspirator was viewed with the cloak of a murderer, eventhough he denied involvement. Continue chanting the Buhari is a dictator mantra, but keep in mind that dictators shaped great nations (check the history of great nations around the world) What is dictator to you, is a decisive leader to another.

I still repeat that Buhari does not posess any form of democratic credentials in this present day Nigeria!.

On 28 March 1985 a Special Military Tribunal sentenced Rimi to 21 years in jail for corruptly enriching 96 legslators of the State House of Assembly by N500,000. Rimi said he had given the money to the legislator "for keeping the law and order in their constituencies"

He was appointed Emir of Suleja in 1993 amid protest by Sulejas. He was kicked out of the Emir Stool in 1994. In 2000, he was reappointed Emir by the PDP Governor Abdulkadir Kure in 2000.

GOVERNOR AMBROSE ALI, BENDEL STATE
Fmr. Bendel Governor Ambrose Alli was jailed for 100years for misappropriating funds belonging to Bendel State to the tune of N983,000. The Money was meant for road project but he donated it to his Party. He was later freed when Sir Gabriel Igbenedion paid fine to the Government. Ambrose Ali had claimed that it was the contractor incharge of the road project that GAVE him the money to give to his party-Which he did.
The Military Tribunal found him guilty for diverting State's money to his party.
Ali's Son still maintained that it was the contractor that Gave him(Ali).
Sir Gabriel Igbenedion paid a fine to have Ali regain freedom

MESSERS NDUKA IRABOR AND TUNDE THOMPSON

It was a crime as at then by decree 4 for journalists/print to publish misleading story about the government.
On July 4, 1984, the Guardian Newspaper and two of its journalists Tunde Thompson, then Senior Diplomatic Correspondent and Nduka Irabor, who was Assistant News Editor, became the first victims of this very obnoxious decree.
The two journalists were eventually jailed for one year without an option of fine! Guardian Newspapers was fined Fifty Thousand Naira (N50,000.00). They had published in The Guardian of April 1 & 8, 1984 stories with the headlines “Eight Military Chiefs Tipped as Ambassadors” and “Haruna to Replace Hannaniya”(Which was misleading as at then).

AFTER RELEASE:
Irabor would later become the press officer to Babangida’s deputy and in June 1993. would stain his name forever by allowing it to be associated with the gravest electoral event in Nigeria’s history when he circulated a statement annulling the results of the June 1993 presidential election won by Chief MKO Abiola.
