The Scot has overseen a dismal 2014-15 campaign, with the club recording just five wins in the Premier League so far, and the defeat to Hull City on Tuesday proving the final straw Paul Lambert has been sacked as manager of Aston Villa, the club have confirmed. Villa have endured a dismal season to date and currently sit in the relegation zone, having won just five of their 25 Premier League games in 2014-15. Lambert oversaw a 2-0 loss to Hull City on Tuesday - a result that came after back-to-back defeats to Chelsea and Arsenal - and the club have now "parted company" with the Scot. An official Villa statement read: "Aston Villa Football Club has parted company this evening with manager Paul Lambert. "First-team coach Scott Marshall and goalkeeping coach Andy Marshall will continue to prepare the squad for Sunday's FA Cup tie with Leicester City at Villa Park. "The club would also like to place on record its thanks to Paul and take this opportunity to wish him every success in the future. "The club will announce a new manager in due course." Villa have not won in the league since December 7 - a 2-1 victory over Leicester City - and will begin the post-Lambert era against the same opposition this weekend, in an FA Cup fifth round tie. |

I saw the hand writing on the wall and I duly told a friend this could happen this week earlier on today. So, it came as no surprise to me when I saw the caption on Supersport tonight. |
