hello somebody, i'm a new member and i was really thrilled when i came across your thread. i have always wanted to travel to the U.K but my problem is not knowing the opportunities i have. as a lawyer i would not like to do odd jobs, pls advise on posssible jobs and required qualification. i am only eligible to practise law in nigeria |
Re: Graduates in the UK by DisGuy: 9:01pm On Aug 06, 2007 |
Depending on what type of law you specialize in, you will have to study the equivalent in the UK, i think the 'easiest' one is the immigration law, you'll be able to partner with many nigeria/african lawyers in the UK. |

Re: Graduates in the UK by Jezgirl(f): 10:01pm On Feb 17, 2008 |
@ OMOLONGZY, regardin d question u asked 4, wot i knw is in UK, most employers look for experienced graduates. If u ave a 1st class, i can tell u dat d employers will first employ a 2:1 graduate based on d expereince he/she has. So if ne graduates want a job, it's beta u consider a placement during ur year of study. But dat's not d end of d world, sum1 dat doesn't ave ne xperience wil surely get d job but mite take a few weeks or months depending on ow gud u r in selling ursef to d employer. BUT STIL DON'T FORGET D FACT DAT THE GRADUATE WIT EXPERIENCE STAND THE CHANCE FOR JOB DAN A GRADUATE WIT NO EXPERIENCE. @ D-THING, if u r plannin to take on ur profession - LAW in uk, den i'll advise u to think it thru properly bcoz to get a job in LAW PROFESSION in UK is so tight like mad. The white people stand d chance first before any other background, trust me on dis. But u can always make an enquiry b4 leaping. Gud luck. |

Hello everyone!! Sorry I haven't been on here for a while. I have noticed that a lot of people ask the same questions. I CANNOT help anyone get a job. If you want to apply from Nigeria, forget it please and focus on getting a job in Nigeria. You might be able to save up enough to come and do a masters and perhaps get a job after your studies. London met is not a good school, I can't say this enough. There are several league tables but this is a link to one of them http://extras.timesonline.co.uk/gug/gooduniversityguide.php. In my opinion, rankings gives you an idea about the reputation of a school. London Metropolitan refuses to be ranked and that is because it is NOT a great school. I think it prefers not to be on the table rather than being given a poor rank. Any questions apart from those asking if I can help them with offers/jobs or if London Metropolitan is a good school would be answered. Thanks! Also thanks to DisGuy for keepign the thread alive. |

Let me help Somebody out here, and I am going to be brutal. If you are not some wonderkid or genius that has topped his class from primary to secondary school with a few state and national awards and topped nationally in SSCE and JAMB results AND/OR If you did not get a 1st (or a very high 2.1) and are one of those that led the class in your university AND/OR If you have not worked in an international reputable company that is well known for staff training, where you shined more than a million stars that resulted in you getting rapid promotions and a lot of specialist skills. Then you do not have a rats chance of getting a job in the UK by directly applying from Nigeria. STOP DREAMING!!! You have a higher chance of lightning striking you than using a 2.2 from a Nigerian university to get a job in the UK (which you applied for whilst still IN NIGERIA) without currently being an employee for that particular firm. Except you meet one of the criterias above and qualify for the HSMP visa. And if you have a 2.2, it is almost close to impossible to get any scholarship. Even a 2.1 would struggle. FORGET IT!!! Leave the poor girl alone and let her help those that are seeking more reasonable advice. I can't believe some people want to get good jobs but yet were not competent enough to do a little research to see if the university that they applied to (and have already accepted offers from) is/was a good university. That simple error speaks volumes about the individual's decision-making ability. Nice job Somebody. I am also an expert on the UK job market and university ratings. 1 Like |
