Prebendalism and Party Politics,a canker worm in the Politics and Economy of the polity:Case Study of Nigeria. That was my Project Topic actually. When we talk about Godfatherism and Patron Clientele relationship, the first case that come's to our mind will be that of Chris Ngige(the Client) and Chris Uba(the Patron). Chris Ngige and Uba had an agreement before Uba accepted to make him Governor of Anambra state, prior to Ngige's emergence as Governor,Chris Uba made him accept some terms and conditions which included: He(Chris Uba) will Appoint Chris Ngige's Commisioners and other members of his Executive Council,He(Chris Uba) will take control of allocating contracts in the state, among other terms Ngige agreed to. At the end of the Elections,Chris Uba rigged Chris Ngige into office as Governor of Anambra state. Now the Turmoil began. Contradicting their agreement,Ngige refused to allow Uba control his Executive Council(he gave him a few slots) he refused Uba control over the Contracts in the state,as he appealed to him to allow members of the Party(PDP) who had registered Companies with the state to be given contracts. Uba and Ngige's war almost tore Anambra state apart. Uba however proved superior to Ngige(who was the Governor of the state)as he sent Police to Abduct the Governor. Ngige suffered a lot from Chris Uba because he refused to dance to his Music. In 2006 with the Rancour in the PDP house,Peter Obi the Candidate of APGA,won the Tribunal suit against Ngige and was made Governor of the state. That was how PDP lost Anambra till date. My major concern how ever is Vis-a-vis the Jonthan and Obasanjo's Patron Clientele relationship. Jonathan agreed to his Patron(Obasanjo) that he won't seek for a second term.Obviously, this is far from the Jonathan's/Obasanjo's fight. Jonathan denied Obasanjo access to control of his government, and they started fighting from June 2011 towards the Inauguration of the National Assembly. Jonathan wanted a Yoruba Speaker for the House Of reps,to equate the distribution of Powers(since the south and North had presidency and Senate)Obasanjo wanted an Hausa man. As the two Elephants fought, they were too busy to notice the Rat going into their houses to steal fishes. They both lost the bid to install their candidates, and Tambuwal emerged the Speaker. Jonthan kept denying Obasanjo Control over him and his government, hence Obasanjo's Criticism of the Jonathan's Government. Can anybody tell me,that prior to 2011,elections were free and fair in Nigeria? Not for Jonathan, would Buhari be able to boast of winning elections? Obasanjo's Puppet Maurice Iwu(the then Chairman of Inec) under the instructions of obasanjo ruined our democracy, and today Obasanjo is calling him corrupt, becuase of the sins he made him commit. Obasanjo is an Old man who has embezzled all he need's to survive his Generations unborn, and care less about what anybody think's of him, especially those who are making him irrelevant(Jonathan). Let's Watch as the battle unfolds#GoodLuckMarchesBuhari(GMB)
