Should He Go For A "Certification" Or A "Skill"? by kosiso90: 4:47pm On Mar 12, 2015
Hello NLers.
I'm a Batch C corp member serving in one of the western states. I graduated with a good class of degree from one of the First generation universities in Nigeria and my discipline is Accountancy.

Now, my problem is this: I'm confused about going ahead with the professional certification program I was running while in school or channellin my limited resources( monthly allawee) towards acquiring a lucrative skill cos I can't boast of any right now. The reason behind this is that I ve lost the motivation to pursue the certification having observed that certifications does not guarantee jobs or success but I ve sacrificed so much to get this certication that I feel that throwing in the towel will render my sacrifices meaningless.

Again, as I pointed out earlier, I have limited resources and I don't want to waste it "chasing shadows". Please Advice.

PS: don't tribalise or politicize this thread. It is meant for people with good heads on their shoulders.
MODS, pls help me to move this to the front page.

Bros, learn a skill... It's definitely more beneficial in the Nigerian market than those certification programs that is now all too common...

Hmmmm, well truth is everything boils down to you. Do ur homework well. Not all skills are really lucrative. Plus certification on the other hand might be a total waste of time and resource.

Some times in life we make tough decisions not because we are 100% sure but we follow our instincts. Look deep inside am sure you would find your answers.
