The ISIL Takfiri group operating in Iraq and Syria has accepted the pledge of allegiance to the terrorist entity by Nigeria’s Boko Haram militants.

“We announce to you the good news of the expansion of the caliphate to West Africa because the caliph... has accepted the allegiance of our brothers,” ISIL spokesman Mohammed al-Adnani said in a Thursday audio message.

The ISIL terrorists declared the formation of a so-called Islamic caliphate or government in June 2014 to rule the territories under their control in the crisis-hit country and neighboring Syria.

The ISIL militants, with members from several Western countries, have been carrying out horrific acts of violence such as public decapitations and crucifixions against all ethnic and religious communities.

The ISIL acceptance came days after Boko Haram terrorists pledged allegiance to the Takfiri ISIL terrorist group.

In an audio file uploaded to the Nigerian group’s twitter account on March 7, Boko Haram said, “We announce our allegiance to the caliph... and will hear and obey in times of difficulty and prosperity.”

The eight-minute Boko Haram recording was accompanied with an image of a radio microphone along with Arabic, French, and English subtitles.

Boko Haram, whose name means “Western education is forbidden,” controls parts of northeastern Nigeria and says its goal is to overthrow the Nigerian government.

It has claimed responsibility for a number of deadly shooting attacks and bombings in various parts of Nigeria since the beginning of its activities in 2009, which have left over 13,000 people dead and 1.5 million displaced.

Boko Haram has also carried out terrorist activities in Nigeria’s neighboring countries Cameroon, Chad, and Niger.
