Nigeria is poised to make a significant leap in its military capabilities by becoming the first nation to purchase four Light Combat Helicopters (LCH) from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) through a soft credit arrangement. This development marks a milestone in international defence partnerships and highlights Nigeria’s commitment to enhancing its aerial defence capabilities.

Financial Express Online has reported previously officers from the Nigerian Army have completed their training on HAL’s Dhruv helicopters at the Rotary Wing Academy. This training has been pivotal in preparing them for the advanced LCH. “The discussions between HAL and Nigerian officials are nearing completion, with an agreement expected to be finalized shortly,” confirmed sources in the defence and security establishment. The growing momentum in these negotiations reflects both HAL’s strategic outreach and the Nigerian government’s initiatives to secure advanced defence technology.

The LCH, a variant of the Advanced Light Helicopter Dhruv, boasts an array of advanced features including stealth technology, armoured protection systems, and crash-worthy landing gear. These attributes are designed to enhance the helicopter’s survivability in combat scenarios. It offers impressive agility, manoeuvrability, and an extended operational range, making it suitable for various roles such as combat search and rescue (CSAR), destruction of enemy air defences (DEAD), and counter-insurgency operations.

This helicopter excels in diverse environments, including high-altitude and jungle settings, and is effective against slow-moving aircraft and remotely piloted vehicles. Its design integrates state-of-the-art technologies that include a glass cockpit and composite airframe, reflecting a commitment to indigenous innovation and modern combat needs.

Historic” Deal For India’s LCH Prachand; Set To Outflank Turkish T-129 Helos For Nigeria Deal – HAL Source
By Ritu Sharma

India’s indigenous light combat helicopter (LCH), Prachand (meaning Fierce), is reaching the finishing line to finalize a deal with the Nigerian Army.

If the deal comes through, it will be a breakthrough export deal for the Indian aerospace maker. The plus point will be that the homegrown chopper will have won the contract, defeating the Turkish T-129 ATAK helicopter and European Tiger HAD multi-role helicopter.

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is confident that it might have the first deal in the helicopter segment rather than the fighter jet segment. An official told the EurAsian Times that the announcement can be expected soon.

The first official appearance of the Chinese electronic warfare system ELINC CHL-906 integrated electronic warfare (IEW) systems with the Algerian army..

Algeria was the first Customer for this advanced warfare system from China, the CHL-906, which specializes in blocking hostile radar systems, be they land, sea or air.
Several sources indicate that Algeria received the system several months ago, before photos of its arrival were leaked through social networks, showing photos last week during the unloading of a ship in an Algerian port.

Manufactured by the Chinese ELINC, it is designed to cover a wide range of frequencies from the L band to the KA band, the range of interference can be up to 300 km,

while it can detect enemy frequencies in a range of 600 km. at the same time that it determines the exact location of its emission.

It also blocks signals from satellite navigation systems like (GPS, Baidu, Galileo, Glonass), preventing the enemy from using precision guided munitions based on this technology.

The newly introduced system is both passive, defensive and offensive.

It was developed as a more modern derivative of the Chinese companies

ELINC and CEIC LDK-190 and is used to:

Detect enemy radio and radar emissions over a range of 600 km
Determine the position, identify and classify enemy emissions over these distances
Protect radars and anti-aircraft systems from anti-radiation missiles by “covering” the radar frequencies
Block communications over a distance of 300 km
Prohibit the use of GNSS satellite positioning systems (GPS, Baidu, Galileo, Glonass) by the enemy (air, sea, land) over a distance of 300 km
Jamming frequencies from 0.5 to 40 GHz
Detect stealth aircraft and ships
Detect drones that are remotely piloted and remove their data link with the ground
Detect AEW aircraft over a distance of 500 km
To “fry” some radio-electric equipment thanks to the directional emission power of 500 Kw

The system is highly mobile, easily deployable on the front lines, and is capable of targeted electronic jamming as well as ELINT.

The system can also conduct multi-dimensional electronic reconnaissance, and work in sync via data-link with various hard-kill ADS platforms across Pakistan for an effective, coordinated and networked area-denial/anti-access capability for enemy aircraft.

An ELINT/ESM command and control station is also part of the system, mainly used to detect and locate all electromagnetic waves (including land, sea and air-based electromagnetic signals) on the battlefield .

After rapid analysis, it forms an information chart for decision-making and deployment. The system also performs SIGINT duties.

The system has an OEM range of 324 nautical miles (600 kilometres) and produces up to 500 kilowatts of effective radiated power.

The system can engage and jam airborne UHF/VHF voice and data radios.

The system can effectively jam both enemy ground-based and air-based communications nodes ;

Including but not limited to

-AEWACS and their ground entry systems

-Command and control nodes

-Airborne data-links [Both fighter-to-fighter and AAM-to-fighter

-As well as satellite communications and GPS / GLONASS.

Developed by the Jianshe Industries Corporation, the JS 9mm is a commercial export version of the QCW-05. The only difference between these two suppressed submachine guns is the different chambering, allowing greater stopping power.

The JS 9mm is a bullpup Submachine gun. It offers a reasonable damage per shot, high effective range, a high rate of fire, and good accuracy. The weapon has generally average overall performance, making it a suitable choice for close-medium range combat.

short article insertThe Indian Air Force (IAF) and Indian Army have already integrated LCHs into their fleets, with plans to acquire additional units in the future. Ongoing collaborations with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and HAL aim to enhance the helicopter’s weaponry and operational capabilities. The LCH has undergone rigorous testing in varied conditions, including at sea level, in desert regions, and in the harsh environment of Siachen. It was officially declared ready for production in February 2020.

The Nigerian Army’s interest in acquiring LCHs aligns with its broader strategy to bolster its firepower and counterterrorism capabilities. The country is seeking approximately 12 twin-engine attack helicopters to support its military operations. Nigeria has evaluated several global manufacturers, including HAL, Airbus, and Turkey’s TAI.

Among the contenders, HAL’s LCH stands out for its versatility and proven performance. TAI’s T-129 ATAK helicopter, powered by LHTEC T800-4A turboshaft engines, and Airbus’s Tiger HAD, a multi-role attack helicopter designed for various combat scenarios, are also under consideration. Each of these options offers distinct advantages, reflecting the competitive nature of the global defence market.

In addition to procuring new helicopters, HAL is committed to supporting the Nigerian Army through training programs. As Nigeria moves forward with its helicopter acquisition and training programs, it demonstrates a clear strategy to strengthen its defence capabilities and enhance its military effectiveness in the face of evolving security challenges.

Mil Mi 35s, AW-109Power attack helicopters, TAI T-129 ataks, Bell AH-1Z vipers, MD-500 Cayuse warriors, now HAL Prachand too…?? This is logistics nightmare

He has been taken for a "general court martial" and, according to his wife, he refused to utter a word during the first process and was taken back to detention. She even said his colleagues were calling her and begging her to tell him to talk during the next sitting. She said he agreed but later changed his mind and still was mute during the second sitting.

It's obvious the officer wants to "TREAT HIS FVCK UP" but... Stubbornness.

BRACE UP TO CURRENT SECURITY CHALLENGES, FIGHT WITH COURAGE TO DEFEND YOUR NATION - CAS CHARGES GRADUATING NDA CADETS

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, has tasked graduating cadets of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) to be ready to meet the high expectations of the Armed Forces of Nigeria by bracing up to play their part towards resolving contemporary security challenges. He also enjoined the cadets to be determined to make a difference, not only through bravery in battle but also by mastery of the tools and innovations that are reshaping modern warfare.

Air Marshal Abubakar gave this charge to the cadets in his remarks as the Special Guest of Honour at the NDA 2024 Beating of the Retreat and Prize Giving Ceremony which held yesterday, 18 September, at the NDA Parade Ground, Afaka. Speaking further, the CAS reminded the graduating cadets of 71 Regular Course and Direct Short Service Course 28 Army and 32 Air Force, that considerable resources had been invested into building ther capacity and shaping their character development through quality military training and a sound academic foundation. He therefore called on the cadets to always put the nation first, and give their best in the defence of her territorial integrity and protection of the people.

"As you prepare to be commissioned as officers, remember that the hopes and aspirations of our country rest on your shoulders. Therefore, it is time to ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country." The CAS noted.

Air Marshal Abubakar commended the Commandant and staff of the NDA for upholding the time-honoured tradition of the Beating of the Retreat, which symbolizes the end of the training year. He congratulated the award-winning cadets and battalions, urging them to continue striving for excellence. The CAS also reminded the cadets about the importance of integrity, loyalty, and courage in their service to the nation.

Earlier in the day, Air Marshal Abubakar inspected ongoing infrastructural projects at the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Base Kaduna, providing strategic guidance to ensure qualitative and timely project outcomes. He also toured newly upgraded facilities at the NDA Air Force Wing, where he lauded the improvements aimed at supporting the training of future officers. While there, the CAS engaged in a robust interactive session with NAF officers, airmen, and airwomen serving at NDA. He commended their dedication to duty and urged them to sustain the high standards of excellence and professionalism for which the NAF is known.
