ignant: It is funny how the internet provides a platform for a native doctor to discuss economics, in all your complaints what I could see is a deep seated ignorance that education cant redeem. Subsidy is a relationship between the landing cost and government retail price, this relationship is majorly determined by the price of crude oil. In 2016 when the government announced subsidy removal, the pump price jumped to 145 naira, did you bother to ask what the landing cost was at the time? The landing cost was less than 145 reason the nnpc announced an over recovery at the time. What was the price of crude in 2016 and what is it today or within the period the VP told you he paid subsidy? The landing price today is 220 naira, crude price is above $60, so when you go to the pump and buy pms at 145 naira, your common sense if functional would ask who paid the difference between 220 and the 145 you paid. NAS is poised to send the executive to the stone age, reason most expenditures bypass them, is it right? NO!! but the NAS folks don't like you either so for the country to move forward, a balance must be struck, NNPC took the responsibility of sole importer of products then absorbed subsidy and cash calls as their running costs. Those are deducted before any money is remitted to the federation account, what is ambigous about solving a common sense problem? You mentioned appointments as if your father was on the queue waiting to be appointed, we had those we needed at the time, politicians should worry about who was appointed and who was delayed from being appointed not you. By 21st dec in the past in over 15yrs, the country is struck with petrol scarcity, we saw that end in 2016, late 2017 was the roforofo between kachikwu and Baru, 2018 yultide, no scarcity, all those middle men marketers that used to hold us to ransome are all out, the over bloated subsidy is out, it is outright criminal for you to think paying less than market price of a commodity is your right, so shut up the VP is doing you a favor. Pay the landing cost of pms today lets see if you can afford data to type nonsense on Nairaland. The reason Nigerian politicians will never change is because most of you are empty. Why would the ruling class bother to satisfy the curiousity of several individuals with poor thinking abilities? Not every national issue is for everyone, discuss those you understand, leave the rest for those that understand it. 7 Likes 3 Shares |

jpphilips: True talk. Many didn't remember that at some point, the landing cost of petrol was N129 while pump price was 145. As the price of oil increases the gap closes till it went above the pump price. If we allow international price of oil to determine our pump price, there will be instability in almost all sectors just as we witness in 2016. Someone is here comparing it with subsidies on rice. Thanks for explaining this better. Am sure we can now concentrate on military related topic. 2 Likes |

bidexiii:If most of the quys in the military think like you, then Nigeria will never win the war against boko haram, men, it's been a while have seen someone as fool!sh as you are. Army shot at civilians, all this fool had to say is that billions were embezzled, is that why soldiers shot at civilians Buhari has been in power for more than 3 years, who is stopping his government from investigating and prosecuting those that embezzled billions Buhari said he will defeat boko haram in 6 month, he later said they have been "technically defeated" what the Bleep is the meaning of that Buhari government has budgeted billions for the army can you list the weapons that have been bought? Lt Gen Buratai an Army personnel, how is he able to own two properties in Dubai, one of the property cost him #120,000,000($419,000). Do you know buratai bought the first property in 2013, The money was gotten from funds made for the supply of vehicles and motorcycles to the Army he also got some of the money for the Dubai property from soldiers feeding allowance, medical care and payment of allowances for soldiers fighting the war against boko haram. Buratai was able to steal all this money when he was serving as the Director of Procurement in the Nigerian army... Buratai use his position to loot, buying second hand vehicles and motorcycles for the army. Is it the fault of the past Government led by GEJ that a corrupt buratai was made the COAS Walahi if it's not for the nonsense happening in Nigeria, there is no way a dumb boy like you would become an officer...you must have been admitted base on knowing someone, thank God the person retired and the military quickly retired you after finding out how dull you are 7 Likes |

I just finish looking at that video by the NYT, men, Nigeria is a messed up country... Just look at the guy that was injured when the soldiers shot at them at the end of the video, he was still flogged even though he was injured. This are the stupid soldiers people want us to support, I salute the courage of those shite members, look at that guy that was raising the flag up at the end of the video, though he was beaten and taking away...but he is more gallant than thousands of Nigerian army cowards. About 5 soldiers with guns attacked a man raising up flags, but this same foolish soldiers will run when they are to face boko haram with AK47 and AAA, and start crying about how they are not well equipped 3 Likes |

olapluto:what a horrible experience, I will never forget 1998 when more than 20 armed men came to rob in my street, I was not up to 10 years old then, but I can still remember how it all happened from the beginning to the end, it was a very horrible experience. I thank God for your life bro, a lot of people lost their life's on those roads, some are kidnapped then killed after money has been paid for those people to be freed. Most of the roads in the North west is not safe at all, this week armed bandits over run three communities in zamfara, and very few TV stations and Newspapers reported the incident.. |

Did you know that mammy market was named after a woman called Mammy Ochefu? Yes yes! Every military barrack in Nigeria has a place called ‘mammy market’, a place close to the barracks, where soldiers’ interact and buy their daily needs. In 1955 at Enugu, the market was named After Mammy Ochefu, the wife of late military Governor of defunct East-Central state, Col. Anthony Aboki Ochefu, where she sold a local non-alcoholic beverage called enyi to support her family. Her husband initially declined as soldiers’ wives were known to be housewives. He later accepted for her to continue the business when she told him it was to support him and the family. After taking a week break at home due to complaints from people that the drink attracted flies, pressure from her clients inspired a Lieutenant Colonel to build her a kiosk to make it more conducive. Her family was later posted out of Enugu to Abeokuta but Mammy continued The business wherever they were posted to while she added snacks that would interest the soldiers’. Interestingly, whenever her family was transferred to another state, she would hand over the business to women who were interested in it but asked that they retain the name. Mammy registered her business as “Mammy Market” in 1971. By the time her husband retired, the business had grown into a supermarket and a transport business. When her husband rose to become a military governor, Mammy was still going about her business. She joined him few months later due to pressure from people, leaving the business in the hands of four people. The idea of Mammy market, which was started by Mammy Ochenfu in Enugu Army Barrack with one shilling in 1955, continues to grow with the country and whenever a barrack is built, a mammy market is built together with it. Through this initiative, Mammy Ochefu helped millions of Nigerian women across the countries to be business owners. We celebrate this beautiful strong woman who defied all odds to create jobs for millions of women today.
