Hog. Those pigs are used for target practice in lots of countries, us, turkey etc. Their meat is usually chewy, hardened muscles from roaming in the wild, just as the fulani cow beef we eat in naija. |

kodded:sir please, stop. What is the meaning of that? Are you saying that Earth's resources will one day vanish all because we are building skyscrapers and house? Even if you use wood, don't we know that trees are like natural machines who take earth resources and put it in a tall green structure. |

Reference: I hope it doesn't get to that point. Many of us are realising that wanton destruction of natural heritage is a travesty. Poverty and lack of opportunity are our major obstacles now. Long ago, we had ethical hunters who would not shoot an animal seen with young ones. For two reasons: If you shoot the mother, the babies may not survive, thereby reducing over all game available. And the babies have too little and too immature meat to eat. It avoided waste. Some land deities may also forbid deliberately killing female animals with babies or pregnant. Originally, African societies were VERY sophisticated philosophically. Ethical and moral stuff were often codified as taboos to strengthen them. Other proclamations were codified as law. We jettisoned much of our very important values that ensured sanity and cohesion in the name of modernity. The modernity we are struggling to adopt didn't take our African circumstances into account during its evolution in the West. We have failed to realise that and adapt it correctly (even improve it) to suit our own situation. We need to learn more how our ancestors did things and the lessons we can learn. Otherwise, it would seem that we never at any point did anything right. Not true. |

Urine: We are thankful for one fact: hunting as a tradition has really gone down in recent years. Back in the seventies and eighties......mehn! You should see bands of hunters, numbering up to 20, with guns, jazz and dozens of dogs.....I wonder how wild animals survived those decades. |

We will continue debating while the ignorant continue eating wildlife. Nairaland makes no difference to people’s existence. The exposure it is meant to give fails because enlightening people is difficult when individuals prefer confidence in mediocrity. |

AreaFada2: Nigeria will not run out of oil and gas. Also, Nigerians are at the bottom of the Maslow Hierarchy of Needs, and whites are not an influential part of policymaking unlike Gabon, Kenya or Southern Africa. |

Every creature has a right to live. Humans alone do not own the planet. Biodiversity strikes a balance in the ecosystem. The Minister of environment and the state commissioner for environment should be sacked for this wilful destruction of wildlife. |
