Declaration of assets is good but not effective in fighting corruption. Why? Because corrupt politicians will easily hide their loot with proxy IDs or companies. |

Corrupt people like Tinubu usually hide their loot through proxies... tell your daft general to be innovative so he can speak again and not rubbish. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Demburrows: Declaring assets does not mean jack sh1t. Ever heard of the cayman islands? There are a 1000 ways to funnel money out of the country. The way to reduce corruption is to have a constant monitoring body and making one or two people scape goats. In America there are people still on the most wanted list since 1970. I know what you are thinking. You are thinking why would the FBI still be looking for someone since 1970? The reason they are looking is the same reason why crime and corruption is relatively low; criminals know that if you commit a crime, no matter how long it takes or how far you run, the system will catch up with you. Recently they just apprehended a guy whose been on the run since 1980. Criminals are too comfortable committing crimes in Nigeria, because they know there is little or no chance of being caught. Take apprehension and adjudication seriously and crimes, both financial and otherwise, will reduce. |
