What Nairaland has taught me:

There is nothing more important than being yourself, no matter how unpopular it may be. It is not worth it trying to be like the rest of the crowd.

Nigerians are constantly making up stories

Hatred and corruption is alive and well, and is a major obstacle towards development and forward movement.

From the Romance section: Girls will fall for anything a loser guy would say to her; People do incredibly stupid things when the words "love" and "marriage" is involved, and all common sense is thrown out the window.

Apparently, a woman's virginity is the purest thing sought after.

Posters on NL are generally childish, and will not deal with a topic with logic, but rather with emotions and other childish activities.

Nigerians do not answer questions, they merely dance around the topic at hand, or derail the topic with nonsense bickering.

I'll add more as I think of more.

That Nigerians argue just for the sake of arguing and that Nigerians want nothing good for the country Nigeria.

NL has taught me how to have a good laugh everyday on this forum

NL has taught that even when you think you kwn it all,you dnt kwn anything

That tribalism/corruption is a cancerworm in Nigeria

But more importantly that people are different in reasonings, perspective, believes and also unique in their own form.

@ Topic

1) We Nigerians are a very opinionated lot and majority would rather argue than admit folly in their thinking

2) We have a number of very inteligent individuals amongst us

3) The forum offers a wealth of useful information

4) A lot of people enjoy picking fights and delivering agendas unrelated to the topic at hand

5) Too many people spend too much time here

6) There is some measure of disharmony/animosity between some home and overseas-based Nigerians, apparent in certain threads/topics

That it's important to ask questions and give your opinion and that it's equally important to understand that those who don't understand these question/opinions will still respond. Such is life, don't let confusion rain supreme.

There is hope yet
The young will not perish; they can hold their own. If nothing, they have their mouths
People yearn to be home.
The pidgin English will live on forever
Most Africans are digusted with Nigerians but cannot help being awed by them
Everyone agrees that corruption has destroyed the nation but believe staunchily that money is power, the means to get it could be overlooked
I can say whatever I like, anonymity covers me
I can get info on stuff

All nicely said on lessons learnt so far. . Mine goes thus
That Jakumo is a self acclaimed protagonist and a fantastic philosopher.

And that MrCrackles is an independent cult mogul and a Grussling Brash Brasher. . .

And that i wish Gabry was my grand mother lipsrsealed

And that Ejadamen musta been a professional cook (YEA)! smiley

And that d guy named Tudór is a Religion owned blasphemer same as many others.

And that the racial condemnation and tribalism in this country (Nigeria) is nothing to write home about.

And that Nairaland has thought me not to love my mami_water girlfriend.

And That there's something def spikey about that babe called cylinder. . .

And that there are no peace makers in NL.

Will be back with the rest of the nuws.

Re: What Has Nairaland Taught You? by sugabelle: 8:31pm On Jul 20, 2009
To watch a topic, but don't speak.

Because if you speak, you may just be unlucky enough to hold an unpopular opinion.

And it goes downhill from there: it either turns into an insult tournament, thereby the whole purpose of the topic is soon forgotten,

OR, you automatically change your opinion just to save the precious peace, and your precious dignity.

This is what I have learned from NL. lipsrsealed

1. I've realized that a lot of Nigerians still need to grow up

2. The hatred of Igbo to Yoruba really shocked me. I used to think they are my friends before I joined NL

3. Realized that most SE and SS people in Nigeria are spontaneous in reaction to issues without giving much logical thought
and every other tribe that think twice before they react are cowards as far as they are concerned.

4. That Nigerians don't joke with their sexuality. Very dirty sets of people

5. Despite our tribalism we are still intelligent people

6. That a few Nigerians still believe in our country like I do

It reinforced the low regard I had for the indigenes of many African countries.

Reinforced my fears that obsessive criticism does not in fact lead to improvement but leads to negative self-fulfilment.

It reinforced my thoughts that there are many perverts in Nigeria who appear to derive such great pleasure from abusing themselves and their families they encourage others to abuse they and their families (weird)

Reinforced my views that many Africans are educated but few are enlightened.

Reinforced my views that one of African peoples’ great mistakes is a failure to understand their struggles within the context of a wider black political movement and experience.

In fact, it taught me nothing.
