First of all, tell him to come here and read , also the school is funny if they really want him to come before August ending they should have send his I-20 since May or before now and transfer funds for him to pay visa fee, sevis fee too..

Anyway let him start reading from page 3 to the latest page 7 so that he can get learn from both granted and delay transcripts. Also tell him to go and pay for visa fee and sevis fee, since full tuition he will still need to show financial support during his interview at the embassy

Not really funny as you might have imagined...

The admission officer only asked if he could get to US before August ending.

He was notified yesterday...

He needs tips... Currently, he's working very hard to complete his MSC project here...

Really grateful to u. U have just given me a vital information that money can never buy.
God bless u abundantly
I plan doing Masters in Public Health, MPH.
Pls is it under STEM ?
Secondly, going back to P.hD or another masters, will the F1 visa be applied for again in Nigeria, or right there in the US

I don't think MPH is part of STEM.
If you choose go back to school, you don't have to leave to get another visa stamping since you will still be in F-1 status. If however you decide to go outside the country to say Nigeria for some personal reasons, then you will need to go for visa stamping; which you can always do in Canada or Mexico before travelling or in Nigeria when you get there.
Keep in mind that a visa is an entry document, all you need to care about while in the US is maintaining your status.

People are really getting a full funding and partially funding financial aids for masters in the US
Pls how are they doing it ? All I have is 2m, and I desire an mph in the US
Pls how can I do it ?

It's all about packaging and endurance bro, because it can't just land on your doorstep like that (depending on the school, your course/program and your profile (ie your academic background and work experience). Hence, just like Walspring said , you have to do vigil all day and night trying to do the following:

(1) Get a school of your choice.
(2) Check out for professors you can work with in your department as a Graduate Assistant (either Research Assistant or Teaching Assistant** although the TA is mostly for PhD students).
(3) Study the professor's profile. Know his/her research area if you are going for RA position, or you go for TA position if you have the required skills (both academic and personal).
(4) Construct a concise email that you will send the professor. Please don't make these mistakes at this stage:
(a) Sending "....... please I need funding" or sending something that looks like a generic email. Present yourself properly and don't go straight to funding like Bigfrancis said earlier "don't be direct....". Talk about the knowledge you will gain and not the funds.
(b) Don't email two professors in a department @ a time(a week interval is OK), because you don't know if they are close & also their discussions. It can show that you are just desperate.

Then you have to expect snubs, rejections (out of funds) and acceptances from the different profs you emailed.
However, in some PhD programs, you don't have to contact any prof before getting a Graduate Assistantship (tuition waiver + monthly stipend & others) but as for masters, you have to do it (in most cases) or all you can get is just 50% scholarship base on your academic background.

NB: Most funds (full) are given in Fall and I guess you are running out of time. But nothing is impossible bro, maybe one has been waiting for you.

Hope it helps!! smiley

I wont have opportunity to apply for U.S. visa anymore, I wonder how second time application will be after some years of good status in U.S.

@mystiqume, how was it?

@ Zeezahbee, Walspring et al.

one-year requirement for state residency doesn't apply to F-1 students unless you have a pending I-485 petition.

I read something like MPH is eligible for a one year OPT there can't be any further extension after the one year OPT unlike some other courses where their OPT can be extended by another 17months or so
Pls is this correct ?

It doesnt matter if you already have your passport before you got married since you have marriage certificate with you but VO might correspond that by asking when do you get married in order to check if truly what you saying is genuine if i am not wrong

Greetings to all members of this great thread. One of my folks just got Masters admission into a sch in US with full tuition waiver plus teaching assistantship... The sch wants him to get to US before August ending; though, the program commences in September.

Brief Info: First Class in Mathematics from UI
GRE score: 310 no TOEFL.
His US admission: Msc Mathematics

He needs your guide as regards getting VISA...
The required doc etc.

Thanks

If the person actually got full funding, he won't be taking a chill. You are even the one asking question on his behalf.

Abeg how did he get that funding when he doesn't even know how to move his legs to Gtbank and pay damn fee. Pay sevis fee ASAP.

Person wey get head no get cap. The school wants him to come fast because he should start getting ready for the TA position.

Most of the time its honesty and confidence that can do it, You can say ur uncle sponsored ur undergraduate degree n he will also sponsor this. And explain what he does very well so they know he's capable.
More importantly pray very well
