i'm using avast for now and its the best i tell you! i've tried avira before but it's always very sluggish to update.
i suspect the people deliberately do that to frustrate free users and force them to upgrade to the paid version.

I guess the best way to avoid all these virus stuff is to go open source by using linux/unix based OSes. In one way or the other most of those based on Windows OS tend to be affected.

for me i think Microsoft security essential is the best
try it and a trial wil convince u
another advantage about this MSE is that its from microsoft and is equally free
so u dont need to look for crack or key to renew ur subscription
