skylolo112: @skylolo112, There are various types of FTA decoders you can get in the market but I'll advise you go for STRONG 4663x. It will give you better options and it is easier to work with for a fresher. Since you're just coming into the thread, why don't you take time to read past posts in season 1 & 2? Topics concerning how to set up an FTA system, requirements and even tracking of most of the available birds on KU have long been discussed. If you keep asking questions regarding these issues, not everyone may be patient enough to spend time in repeating them. Just a word. |

williams85: @williams85, I'm glad you finally got through with the channels. That is the spirit of FTA. Never give up. If you don't succeed the first time, try again and again until you get it right. |

@George_D please you can send me what i need to do and what i need to buy to watch English premier league stations and la liga stations on fre to air tv pleasse to my mail if you have time skylolo112@yahoo.com |
Re: Official Thread of Free-to- Air Satellite TV [part 3] by GeorgeD1(m): 8:59pm On Jul 01, 2009 |
@skylolo112, English premier leaugue, la liga etc matches are not restricted to one FTA station. That is the difference btw FTA and pay tv stations. For FTA, you occasionally have to search for them through feeds though there are some established stations who air some of these matches live on a more regular basis than others. Therefore, for a real enthusiast, you should be looking at installing more than one ku band dish if football is your interest. You could have one dish pointing at eutelsat w3a for MBC (tanzania). Then you may need to have another pointing at NSS7 for LC2 then another pointing at intelsat 7/10 for etv. These three stations I mentioned do show these matches occasionally for 90cm. As for what you need to watch these channels, I think that should be pretty obvious by now, i.e, STRONG decoder, KU lnb, 90cm dish, RG6 cables and of course your TV. |

Re: Official Thread of Free-to- Air Satellite TV [part 3] by GeorgeD1(m): 10:15am On Jul 02, 2009 |
@skylolo112, You will need to have three dishes for the three different birds. But since you have two dishes from dstv and hitv, you can use those two. I'm aware though there are some hitv dishes that are very small almost 45cm. If that is the type you have you may not be able to use it for FTA unless maybe you intend to fix it permanently on intelsat 7/10. No, you cannot watch art, showtime and aljazeera sports with these small dishes. For that you will need bigger dishes from 2.4m and above depending on your location. |

Re: Official Thread of Free-to- Air Satellite TV [part 3] by blexxonmak(m): 2:26pm On Jul 02, 2009 |
[center]@seunoluomo.Since you are staying in lagos i advice you go for 2.4m pan dish. With 1.8m dish you may find it very difficult to access most of the premium channels on Nilesat. You also need a STRONG(4663x) receiver,Ku LNBF,C-band LNBF,Superjack actuator, eurostar motoriser,RG6U cable,Diseq Switch, etc. If your installer is knowledgeable enough ,he should be able to combine the two LNBs.You can get all the stuff at Alaba.Call 08033004145(Ugochukwu) for more assistance. He is a major dealer on satellite equipment. You may also take your time to read through part 1 of this forum. |

Re: Official Thread of Free-to- Air Satellite TV [part 3] by Dejsam(m): 3:36pm On Jul 02, 2009 |
rich8: @rich 8, there are different kinds of juju card also known as cloned cards or unofficial smartcards that can open encrypted channels of a particular pay tv provider.but the most common ones widely used in nigeria are the abracadabra and coco card.these two cards opens art and showtime channels on nilesat.the card is white in colour just the same size of any paytv smart cards u can find around.the abracadabra card comes with the echolink receiver and its clones and cannot work in any othe receiver outside their family.but the coco card can work in any receiver that has irdeto embeded conditional access system (CAS)though the abracadabra card opens so many other providers that we dont have the required dish size to track their signal here in nigeria.example is the NTV package on eutelsat w4 .a russian based paytv provider using irdeto 2 encryption system. other types of juju card includes- Cerebro Card Anaconda card fun card titanium card penta card etc. these ones i just mentioned are not used here. |

newcomers, there is virtually nothing you have been making enquiries on that has not been touched in the past.please endeavour to roll back. This is the main reason questions are not answered sometimes. all, TVContinental,a terrestrial tv station in Lagos has gone online-tvc.com.ng It is also on HITV.This is good news for Nigerians in the diaspora.I had wanted to ask Enigma how one can watch the Super Eagles in Europe while playing at home. |

@Olubachar, Thanks for the mail. I saw the software attached but I already have it-that along with the SMW Link version. They're all great softwares indispensable for the real FTA enthusiast. As a matter of fact, but for the fast satellite finder tool my nilesat installation wouldn't have been as smooth as it turned out to be. Thanks all the same for the spirit of sharing. |

Re: Official Thread of Free-to- Air Satellite TV [part 3] by GeorgeD1(m): 5:45pm On Jul 02, 2009 |
seunoluomo: @seunoluomo, I think blexxonmak has already answered some of your questions regarding this. And as toxnaija just said the reason why most questions like this go unanswered is because these are issues that have been dealt with extensively in the past. So, when you come several months later to start asking these kind of questions it's like dragging the whole house back. Most honorable members who are very busy will rather post on current topics than waste time answering questions relating to past issues. As it is now, we can only give you hints here while we direct you to pages or parts of the thread where you can get most of these info. As myself has already found out, there is NO SHORTCUT to these things. If you want to be knowledgeable in FTA, you have to sacrifice some time in reading. READ, READ and READ some more. The only other alternative is to remain ignorant and run to these illiterate installers who don't know anything btw azimuth and elevation and who are ever ready to milk you silly. |

@ll a note of warning to all newbies regarding going off into the market to buy stuff for yourselves: beware of fakes! FAKE DISHES! FAKE DECODERS! FAKE LNBS FAKE CABLES! if you are buying any dish 1m or below, please make sure it's a strong or eurostar. anything outside of that, please forget it. if it's not poor finishing or the dishes, other problems include very week bolts ad nuts and really terrible supports. for 1.8m dishes and beyond, if it's not strong for pan, please stay off it. you can rely on eurostar and supermax for mesh dishes. regarding decoders. a lot has already been said of fake strong decoders in the market. stick with srt4663x, iit's new and it has been duplicated yet. lnb's for small dishes, strong will do, while for big dishes you can try fuji. i do no know of a fake fuji for now. cband lnbf, you can rely on supermax. cables: try as much as possible to get the eurostar rg6 copper cable, a roll goes for 1500, unlike the regular cables that are sold for 900. hope this write up has been of help to the noobs in the house. |
