•EFCC’s invitation to Saraki’s wife curious, say senators
THE Federal Government has said President Muhammadu Buhari would only probe former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration. Delving into the activities of other past administrations of Olusegun Obasanjo, Ibrahim Babangida, Sani Abacha and others could amount to waste of time.

Meanwhile, a group of senators called ‘Like Minds Senators’ on Thursday said they found the decision by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to invite the wife of the Senate President, Mrs. Toyin Saraki “in connection with an unknown investigation very curious.”


Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina said Buhari had stated during his campaign that his probe would only be limited to the immediate past administration.

“If you recall, that was already settled before he was inaugurated as president. He has said he will not waste time digging into the far past. The far past will includes Obasanjo and others,” Adesina said.

The senators in a statement signed on their behalf by Senator Dino Melaye stated that they hoped that the invitation of Mrs Saraki was not politically motivated or linked with the on-going leadership tussle in the Senate.

Noting that the decision of the EFCC to invite Mrs. Saraki created a lot of coincidences which any discerning mind will not want to ignore, the group said: “Though, we do not want to make any hasty conclusion, we are surprised that about five years after the Sarakis left Government House, Ilorin, the EFCC suddenly realised the need to invite the wife. We hope this is not part of the plot we have heard about aimed at wrestling the Senate President down with different tactics.

“We have heard some of our colleagues and their sponsors boasting about throwing all types of mud at the leadership of the Senate in the bid to force it to accept their conditions. The EFCC definitely should perform its lawful duties, but we warn that it should not return us to the dark days when the anti-graft agency was frequently and flagrantly used as a political weapon,” Melaye stated.
He added that members of the Like Minds group will continue to watch closely developments around Mrs Saraki’s invitation and will later make its position known to members of the public.

To avoid waste of time Femi said? He should rather start from 1966 then the next government will follow from where he stopped... "it will be unfair to treat Nigerians equally"

I cant blame buhari on this probe...apparrently there is no money for him to work with...
hence...he needs to at least get our money back from the immediate past govt which runs into a tune of 150billion dollars (lets imagine that 100 dollars = 100 naira... which is not anyways.... A bunlde of 100 naira notes is just 10k then imagine it in a million..then figure out the size in 150 billion dollars)...that is alot of money
he needs the money to even pay salaries as of now....even some of the amnesty guys have not been paid because there is no money.
if he decides to probe the whole generations of past govt then he wont work throughout his 4yrs.

Jonathan too should have probed when he had his time.

When the next govt comes in let them also be probed

Past adminstration is from 2007 till date. 8years.
