Posted on www.edondo.com E don do. Yes the title says it all. With so much work pumping into our music industry. One can't help but notice the huge number of tracks promoting our Nigerian languages and cultures. Olamide and Phyno are definitely the pillars of indigenous hip hop and they have done so much in bringing awareness to the "yoruba" and "igbo" languages. We can also notice Ikpa Udo repping with "Ibibio". Other musicians are doing same. While these artistes are playing their parts, the only problem we seem to be having is the educational sector. Our schools do not make these languages mandatory. At the primary, secondary and tertiary level, learnng our languages( at least one) should be mandatory. We should know that our language is our history, culture and future. And losing it means losing NIGERIA. And one more thing.. Our official language is "English language" only... Na we get am? South Africa : 11 official languages (English included) Ethiopia: Amharic Kenya : English, Kiswahili Madagascar: French, Malagasy Source: http://www.edondo.com/2015/07/kudos-to-olamide-phyno-and-others-nigerian-languages-cant-go-extinct |
