A new managing director for the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) was unveiled yesterday and he already has his work cut out for him according to new reports. President Muhammadu Buhari appointed Dr. Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, the Executive Vice Chairman/General Counsel of ExxonMobil (Africa), as Group Managing Director (GMD) and informed him that his primary target is the recovery of stolen oil money, among others.

Kachikwu was presented with these six terms of reference by the president to revamp the controversial corruption:

1. Clean up the NNPC system of corrupt elements;
2. Recover all stolen crude oil funds;
