I watch/read in amazement how the APC has been singing propaganda that Buhari is doing the Ogoni clean-up. I think Nigerians need to get the record straight on this subject!

Firstly, we appreciate the President recent rhetoric on the Ogoni clean-up in line with the UNEP report, but it must be noted that Nigerians can't be moved by mere rhetoric. Let us take a second look at the subject as reported by ThisDay www.thisdaylive.com/articles/buhari-approves-measures-to-speed-up-cleaning-of-ogoniland/216705/

1. No HYREP BoT and Governing Council Has Been Inaugurated and No Money Provided:
“Following a meeting held on the directive of President Buhari, it was also agreed that a contribution deposit of 10 million United States dollars will be made by stakeholders within 30 days of the appointment of members of the board of trustees for the trust fund who will be responsible for collecting and managing funds from contributors and donors,”
Let us get this straight, the President has neither constituted a HYREP BoT (or Governing Council) nor has ANY fund been provided for the "proposed" clean-up.

2. No Clean Up Has Commenced:
Adesina said a new implementation template had also been evolved at the instance of the president, adding that the environmental clean-up of Ogoniland would commence as soon as the president inaugurate the HYPREP governing council and the board of trustees for the trust fund.
The emboldened is a pointer that NOTHING has started. No BoT, No Governing Council and Not even a kobo is on ground. Isn't it proper that we start to sing the praises of the government when the clean-up has been kicked off? What is the difference between the "Rhetoric" of Mr President on this Ogoni issue and the his platoria of unfulfilled campaign promises especially the "Public declaration of Asset"?

The APC and the Presidency should realise that Ogoni people and all Nigerians are tired of rhetoric, speeches and intentions. We are in need of action, and we shall only commend the administration when the CLEAN-UP really commence. For now, the APC and their praise-singers should look for another issue to score their point because this one is Dead on Arrival.

May God Bless Us All (Amen)

nawa o, are you people forgeting that GMB is just a mere man and not a god, he surely cant be in two different places at the same time, yes he made assuring statements about the ogoni clean-up, but he has to handle matters in order or priorities, it's not like GMB is just sitting and enjoyin the luxury of the white house. he is definitely working, and if no wailer here on NL understands that, i at least think Barcanista and WhyNotTheTruth should understand this.
all we need to exercise now is PATIENCE...

It is in Buhari's interest to do for the Niger Delta what GEJ did for the North.

The many institutions GEJ created in the north to elevate their almijiri can only be sustained if the Niger Delta continue to flourish.

Yes, we know that planning is key but we also know that the Ogoni man want to see his environment cleaned. He is not interested in praising his leaders when they are still "planning" without delivering result. When something tangible is on ground, we will know.
