This is the Correct Answer.
Can you explain further how 3 instead of 12 is the right answer? It's seem you are getting this PEDMAS all wrong.

-3+3=0 and +3-3=0
Use Calculator to prove this.

-(3+3)=-3-3 not -3+3=0
-(3+3)=-6. Not -3+3=0
Wrong. Correct

If it was about money almost everybody will get it correct. Even pMB did not pass mathematics

3+3*3-3+3
applying PEMDAS
But lets introduce bracket without tampering with originality of the equation
(3+3)*(3-3)+(3)
6*0+(3)
0+3=3
no wonder 87% failed... winks!
Kutunban:

This is the Correct Answer.
WRONG SIR...You can't just introduce bracket...by so doing the equation is tampered with...
first thing at all is the multiplication
Correct answer is 12

@josh99: I'm afraid ur tweaking of d given equation is given u more problem than u can handle. If I borrow frm ur line of reasoning, I.e: 3+(3*3)-(3+3) =3+9-6=6. Now my friend u r so wrong cos if I expand ur line of reasoning above: 3+(3*3)-(3+3) = 3+(3*3)-3-3 which happens to be a deviation frm d given equation. But if u had changed d last +3 to a -3 cos of d introduction of ur bracket then u shuld be fine. That is:
3+(3*3)-(3-3) = 3+9-0=12.
Thank you for that your observation, it actually requires you to be enlightened. Considering the question 3+3*3-3+3, the step You'll follow goes thus, 3*3=9+3=12 and on the other side there'll be consideration on the addition first, giving you 6.
Then, you make it 12-6 which equals 6. Always stand to be corrected.

I weep for our academic system... actually, no, our academic system is better than this! I weep for the ignorant ones blindly insisting that they are right to something this simple.

It's laughable to say Google can't do BODMAS when you have no idea the brains behind the search engine called "Google". These folks employ the brightest researchers in their field to solve the most complex/abstract problems, and BODMAS is the minutest of those.

If you're going to use BODMAS, apply it properly, and don't negate other mathematical rules.

-A+A is ALWAYS zero. Applying brackets doesn't change that.

The answer here is 12.

USING WURUWURU TO THE ANSWER, THE ANSWER IS 3+3+3+3 = 12 grin grin

now, seriously speaking, you can agree with the law of commutativity that
3+3*3-3+3 = 3*3+3+3-3 = 9+6-3= 15-3= 12

The OP is a big olodo for thinking that 12 is not correct.

3 + 3 X 3 - 3 + 3

The answer is 6. Use BODMAS.

bracket of Division. multiplication. addition and substraction.

in tht order.

1. Division = No division in the equation so skip tht.

2. Multiplication = only multiply the numbers connected to it. that is 3 x 3. ignore the others.

therefore you have 3 + 9 - 3 + 3 left

3. Addition = now do only numbers connected to addition sign. tht is 3 + 9 and also 3 + 3

therefore you have 12 - 6 left

4. Subtraction = subtract numbers
12 - 6 = 6. qed

Solving equation
3+3*3-3+3=?

(3+3) * (3-3) + 3= 0

(6) * (0) + 3 = 0

0 + 3 = 3

Adding brackets doesn't alter the equation because its like writing

[+3+3*3-3+3]=0

it cant be six(6).

how can u equate (3+9-3+3 ) to ((3+9)-(3+3)? mr hapheeyxz.

the negative sign is for only (-3) not -(3+3).

re-opening your bracket would give us (3+9-3-3) so is (3+9-3-3)=(3+9-3+3)?

You should go to heaven 4 dis.

In bodmas bro you do both multiplication. And addition before subtraction get that pls.

quote author=AdeniyiA post=36780880]
sorry guy, you don't know how to use BODMAS,
It's (3)+(3*3) -3 +3, minus 3 cancels +3
=> 3+9 = 12[/quote]
Re: First Bank Simple Equation That 87% Could Not Solve. by lovemaths(f): 10:36pm On Aug 10, 2015
2rutalk1:
oga, you are wrong. In BODMAS it is addtion before substraction. So in your second to the last equation I.e 3+9-3+3, addition should come before substraction and mind you n there are two addition signs there. Minus 3 cannot cancel positive 3, which I am sure led you to the wrong answer. So in the rule of BODMAS, finish up everything that has addition sign before treating substraction sign. That is, (3+9)-(3+3) = 12-6=6. That is BODMAS for you.

I happen to study Computer Science in the University. All you just said is bladderdash.

no man. you placed the parentheses wrong.

multiplication comes first so it should be
3 + (3 * 3) - 3 + 3

Then addition

(3 + 9) - (3 + 3)

before subtraction

12 - 6 = 6 qed
