After the March 28 elections, many made it seem as though the South West voted massively in support of Buhari, however a quick look at the Presidential results show that in reality it was actually a close race.
In fact with exception of Oyo, GEJ polled above 40% in the other SW states.
In reality the PDP's total erosion of support in the North and the relatively low turn out in the SE(30%). If we'd seen similar levels of turnout for GEJ in the SE as we saw in the SS and in 2011, the results might have been different.
The whole point of this is that it's not all hopeless for the PDP in the SW, they elected 5 Senators and nearly 30 HOR members in the SW plus they gained a vital foothold in parts of Lagos along with the indefatigable Fayose.
With governors like Aregbesola increasingly vulnerable and losing popularity, the party still has a shot.
They thus have a platform from which to rebuild the party towards future elections.

Nigerian politics is structured thus since 2003
SS and SE always vote PDP
NW and NE vote APC(earlier ANPP and CPC)
The South West and North Central are the swing regions and all victors have always won both.
In 2011, Jonathan won the North Central and the South West in addition to the traditional PDP zones of SS And SE.
In 2015, Buhari won the North Central and SW in addition to the traditional opposition strongholds of NW and NE.

So, the reality of Nigerian politics is that whichever party that wants to control Nigerian politics has to appeal to the South West and Middle Belt...they hold the ace
daz all grin

Stop bothering yourself about PDP, it's dead. The resurgence of any form of opposition to APC in 2019 depends on the performance of PMB now and his future political decisions.

I honestly can't agree less. The game changer was SW and NC. Buhari only wins Niger state in the entire NC in previous elections and has never won any state in SW. We can't deny PDP scored a big win in lagos, they never had it so good. Structure failed PDP in NC. They underrated the influence of saraki, gemade etc.

Yes PDP is strong but you must remember the CONTEXT.

In this case context is SWING.

Buhari only got the required 25% in one state in 2011. His overall voles in the region was less than 25% in 2011 so we are talking a 30% swing of people who were against now for him. That is like changing from hetero to GAY
