The purpose of this article is to educate those who doesn't know this before; and act as a reminder to those who used to know, but who had forgotten it. First, in simple definitions, let's talk about singulars and plurals first. Singular And Plural. A noun that refers to one person, one animal, one place, or one thing, is Singular. E.g. Woman, goat, Church, table. While a noun which refers to more than one person, animal, place, or thing, is Plural. E.g. Women, goats, Churches, tables. Plurals can be formed in various ways, such as: - Adding 's' to a word. Examples Singular: book Plural: books Singular: roof Plural: roofs. Etc. - Adding 'en' Examples Singular: child Plural: children Singular: ox Plural: oxen. - Adding 'es' Examples Singular: brush Plural: brushes Singular: box Plural: boxes. - Changing 'y' into 'i' before adding 'es' Examples Singular: lady Plural: ladies Singular: baby Plural: babies. - Changing 'f' into 'v' before adding 'es' Examples Singular: life Plural: lives Singular: calf Plural: calves. - Compound words. Examples Singular: brother-in-law Plural: brothers-in-law. Singular: step-child Plural: step-children. - Some Nouns Have Two Forms Of Plural. Examples Singular: penny Plural: pennies, pence Singular: brother Plural: brothers, brethren. - Changing One Or More Vowels. Examples Singular: man Plural: men Singular: oasis Plural: oases - Some Words In English Language Doesn't Change. Examples are Sheep Dozen Swine Deer Etc - Few Words Are In Plural Already- They Have No Singulars. Examples Scissors Pliers, etc Though English Language isn't our 'mothers language', the fact remains that for many of us here, English Language is what's bringing money into our bank accounts.
