GOD'S AGENDA

READ JEREMIAH 1:1-10

MEMORISE: Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations. (Jeremiah 1:5)

God has never been purposeless. He does nothing that there is no need for. He rules the entire universe—heaven and earth, according to His purposes. He calls, empowers and sends according to His eternal purposes. His purpose determines His actions.

God has a plan for you in line with His purpose for your life in all ramifications. But for that, He wouldn't have allowed you to come into existence in the first place. He has something in mind for you far better than anything that you can come up with.

He told Jeremiah during his call, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations." Ever before he was called to mind that eventually resulted in his being formed and birthed, i.e. ever before eternity, God had known him and purposed him for something special (purpose). You are designed by God for something.

Read Psalm 139:14. God wants to use you just as He has "fearfully and wonderfully made" you. He wants you to trust Him today in all you are going through. He has idea/agenda for you. You want to be fulfilled? Follow these steps: Recognition of God, the Creator; Relationship with Him; Discovery of His purpose; and receiving the power for fulfilment. Be wise.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Lord, help me never to operate outside Your will.

2. Lord, let Your will be done in my life today and always.

3. Lord, help the leadership and entire membership of the Church to be source of succour to the less-privileged everywhere.

SPOILT BUT REMADE

READ JEREMIAH 18:1-8

Memorise: Yet, O LORD, you are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand. (Isaiah 64vs8)

The redemptive plan of God for man is inexhaustible. Our memory verse today pictures these words interestingly (father, clay and potter). Jehovah is both our Father and Potter, and we are the clay. Man messed up his destined purpose at Eden, and God through Christ Jesus cleaned it up at Calvary (Eph 2:4 -cool. The Israelites were God's choicest nation, settled on a choice geographical location on earth and made to enjoy the care of the Most High. Yet, they erred at His will, derailing from the Law of Jehovah.

The same is the universal church today, yet God has never stopped sending us faithful preachers who expound His Word and ways to people, that at least a remnant can be saved. Therefore, "Shout it aloud, do not hold back. Raise your voice like a trumpet. Declare to my people their rebellion and to the house of Jacob their sins" (Isaiah 58:1).

This is our noble Calling and Commission as God's people. We cannot afford to shrink from it. When a man turns to walk with God, He directs his attention to save the dying world. God would make good His people as it seemed to Him as the Potter (verse 4) if we His watchmen (the Christians) are dutiful at our post.

Remember: You were once battered by the evil of sin, yet our Lord Jesus graciously came for you, remade you and is still remaking you. Wouldn't it amount to selfishness if you look on while others waste away?

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Lord, You will never stop with the remoulding of my life until You are done with me.

2. Lord Jesus, I am ready to go anywhere for You. Send me.

3. Lord, help the missionaries on the various mission fields to be truly faithful to both You and their sending agents despite all odds.

YOUR MIND-SET

READ PHILIPPIANS 4:6-9

MEMORISE: For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks. (Matthew 12:34b)

We live in a confused world where truth is denounced and falsehood is enthroned. That you may not be caged just as the world is boxed, check your mind-set daily. The Scripture says, "Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things" (Phil 4:cool. The mind grows by what it feeds on.

No doubt, man's thought system controls his actions. We are what our thoughts have made us. The works of God are products of his deep thoughts (Psalms 92:5; Isa 55:8-9). Though after the Fall, every intent of man's heart has become continually evil (Gen 6:4; Isa 59:7), God has made adequate provision to restructure and restore our carnality-ruined mind-set through the redemption and salvation made available in and through Christ, and knowledge of His Word (Rom 12:2).

And Job confessed, "What I feared has come upon me; what I dreaded has happened to me. I have no peace, no quietness; I have no rest, but only turmoil" (Job 3:25). You need to guard your thoughts jealously lest the devil takes advantage of your unguarded mind-set. Let Jesus regularly cleanse and control your mind by His Spirit and Word (Eph 5:26). You'll be glad you did.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. O Lord, how great Your thoughts and works! Lead me safely, your servant, on Your pathway.

2. Holy Spirit, I surrender my mind mechanism to You; remove the foreskin of sin and cause it to be conformed to Your Holy Standard always.

3. Lord, do something now to deliver anybody anywhere at the verge of committing suicide for any reasons, in Jesus' name.

PRAY GOD-SIZED PRAYERS

READ MARK 11:21-24

MEMORISE: I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you. (Matthew 17:20)

God moves whenever men are ready. The miracle is responsive only to the difficult and the impossible situations of life. If you have one defiling situation that obliterates all human possibilities, decimate it with a God-size of prayers. God awaits your loud cry in all earnest that your mountain be moved out of the way.

Everyone has obstructing mountain, but not everyone prays God-sized prayers to surmount them. God has destined you to be more than conqueror through Christ who loved and died for all, you inclusive (Rom 8:37; Php 4:13). "For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!" (Rom 5:10). "He who did not spare his own Son, but gave up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?" (Rom 8:32).

Be God-like, calling out those things which do not exist as though the did (Romans 4:17b). Only then can you get the good things God sees for you. What is required of you to have results like Jesus had is to pray God-size of prayers for immeasurable testimony. And you will have testimonies to show for it. Amen.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. O Lord, by Your favour, I surmount all my mountains.

2. Lord, teach and help me to talk less about the supposed gravity of my mountains and more about Your unmatchable power to surmount such mountains.

3. Lord Jesus, let there be true revival in christian bodies.

MARVELLOUS IN OUR SIGHT
READ PSALM 118:19-24
MEMORISE: The LORD has done this, and it is marvellous in our eyes. (Psalm 118:23)
God's intervention in the life of the people who have ridiculed, rejected, denounced, mocked and/or written-off always brings about great unspeakable joy. This is a condition we should all look up to, to happen to us some day.
No one knew who Mary and Joseph were until God brought them to the limelight in His eternal redemptive purpose. "And Mary said" in Luke 1:46-49: "My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour, for He has been mindful of the humble state of His servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me—holy is His name."
Do you know that God has not forgotten you? Yes, it is possible for "...a mother to forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne." But one thing is sure: God "will not forget you!" He says, YOU! You know why? He has "engraved you on the palms of His hands; your walls are ever before Him" (Isaiah 49:15-16).
The Lord who did that of Joseph in the strange land of Egypt will promote you. The Lord who answered Hannah and removed her shame and pain will answer you. The Lord who defended Mordecai and His people, avenging them on Haman will deliver you from your enemies and repay them accordingly. This is your portion for today!
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, do great and mighty things in my life that will add more people to Your kingdom.
2. Lord, do great and marvellous things in this nation that will establish Your lordship over the nations of the earth.
3. Pray that the widows/widowers and orphans will experience the mighty move of God on their behalf to make life easy and bearable for them.

IT SUFFERS VIOLENCE

READ MATTHEW 11:12

MEMORISE: From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it. (Matthew 11:12)

All educational institutions, from primary to the tertiary levels, have their criteria for admission. After admission, you have to struggle to pass exams that bring about promotion from one level to the other. Up till the time of John the Baptist, entering the Kingdom of God was restricted to the Jews and that also was based on keeping the whole Law wholly—no broken line. But from that time onward, entering and possessing the Kingdom of God has been by repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus.

The violence is both internal, i.e. ability to repent and totally forsake Satan, sin and worldliness (carnality), and external, with the ability to conquer the immediate environment that encourages sin. Living the life of holiness and faithfulness involves a lot of struggles. Hence, the Bible says in Romans 6:16, "Don't you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?"

Both the spirit and flesh war against each other. Hence, if you are filled with the Holy Spirit, you will not fulfil the lust of the flesh (Gal 5:16-17). So, be filled with the Holy Spirit to become truly violent against Satan, sin/corruption and satanic cohorts. This you must observe on a daily basis.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Lord, fill me with your Holy Spirit to make me terror to Satan and his kingdom.

2. Lord, make Your Church more conscious of the fact that we have to be more offensive against the devil's plans over the Church and the world.

3. Pray that the mighty Hand of God will stop all forms of violence against the less privileged in the land.

WHAT SHALL WE DO?

READ ACTS 2:37-40

MEMORISE: When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?" (Acts 2:37)

This question came as a result of Peter's sermon to correct an erroneous impression the so called devout had of the brethren that were filled with the power of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost (Acts 2:13). Peter in defence and in enlightening the people preached the message of repentance and of the fulfilment of Prophet Joel's prophecy (cf. Joel 2:28ff), having accused them of crucifying Jesus. He emphasized the undeniable resurrection of that same Jesus, and the fulfilment of His promise (the Holy Spirit) in their presence.

The people present at the occasion fro different parts of the world were cut deep in their hearts by the Word of truth, and saw the need for freedom, hence their question, "Brothers, what shall we do?" This is the same question a rich ruler asked and never returned to Jesus the other day (Mark 10:17-27). Thank God these men and women, though had come to party, knew that something was lost in their lives and needed help.

Don't you also think you need help? Have you ever been convicted in your heart of your sins? It is likely you just came across this message here by chance—God's providence. The Samaritan woman knew Jacob"s well too well, yet she was thirsty in the real sense until she met the Water of life (Jesus) (John 4:14).

Are you being convicted? Just repent today. You will be forgiven and baptized with the Holy Spirit so that you can begin to worship God in spirit and truth (Php 3:3). Are you ready?

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Lord, forgive me where I have been crucifying You.

2. O Lord, draw me nearer to You and feed me with Your Word of life and power.

3. Lord, silence the devil's nefarious activities in the lives of delinquent children everywhere, in Jesus' name.

ADMIT YOUR FAULT

READ 2 SAMUEL 12:9-13

MEMORISE: He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy. (Proverbs 28:13)

It is the carnal tendency to want to cover one's misdeeds or shameful acts. But such things don't remain under cover for life. God knows how to unravel them.

No more excuses please if you so desire that God be with and beside you all the times. High positions and opportunities are rare in life but when God privileges someone, He expects you to utilize the grace for the good of others and not for self-aggrandizement. May you not be a disappointment to God in Jesus' name?

We see David here, after which he was appointed by God as the king over His people, abused the privilege, snatched another man's wife and killed the husband. But when confronted with his sin David gave no excuse but rather admitted: "I was wrong; it was my fault" (verse 13).

How many believers today when confronted with their wrongs always and sincerely admit such without passing the blame to someone else? Unfortunately many so called Christians take after Adam and Eve, giving flimsy excuses for their wrongs. The greatest fault in life is to be conscious of none.

Admittance and forsaking of sins always save the confessor a lot of troubles, leading to God's forgiveness and immediate total cleansing. You can be forgiven if you dare to say to God now, "I was Wrong; It was My Fault." He awaits your confession.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Awake to help me, oh God. Cleanse me from all my errors and secret faults.

2. Lord, let the attitude of bulk-passing and self-justification be taken away from my life, in Jesus' name.

3. Oh Lord, help those in authority to regularly and humbly admit their human frailty with the fact that they are not infallible.

PAYING THE PRICE OF ANOINTING

READ JOB 23:1-10

MEMORISE: But He knows the way that I take: when He has tested me, I will come forth as gold. (Job 23:10)

The main reason for burnout and fatigue is almost certainly because one has operated beyond one's anointing level rather than functioning within it. It was because the person could not accept the limits of his or her ability.

None of us can do everything. To him who is not content with the anointing or gift upon/in him, trouble looms. It is humbling to accept our limits, but there is considerable joy and peace in doing so, not to mention the increase in anointing. We can pray for greater anointing—the ability to do what we previously could not do by our own strength but until that anointing has come, we must accept the limits of our faith and our ability.

When one is contented with the anointing God gives him/her, one does what he/she is called to do without much stress/fatigue. Read Philippians 4:13. As long as you are contented with the calling He has for us, you will live and move at the level He has ordained for you. This is neither stagnation nor complacency.

So, if it is a great anointing you want today, also expect great challenges/suffering at some stages. The anointing is God's power by His Spirit enabling you to do His purpose with ease. Pay the price so that you can "come forth as gold". Anointing is given by grace but demands sacrifice, passionate desire to be use by Him.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Give me the grace to follow Your leading without complaint, Oh Lord Jesus.

2. Lord, help me to pay the price for the anointing to do my God ordained exploits.

3. Pray that God should deliver the modern-day Church from the undue prosperity mentality that has turned its focus away from real spiritual growth.

TEMPTATION'S SOURCE
READ JAMES 1:13-15
MEMORISE: When tempted, no one should say, "God is tempting me." For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone (James 1:13)
Our archenemy, Satan, knows our human weakness; he also know our areas of strength. Dearly beloved, temptation is not sin but yielding to it is. No one is above temptation. The three major areas of life security, food, self-actualization cannot go without being tried. Eve was tried in these areas. She didn't sin until she looked and consciously chose to see the fruit in the light of the devil's ministration. Only then did she fall out of God's grace.
Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour had it tough with Satan, but overcame through the power of the spoken Word (Rhema). Joseph overcame is own through the fear of God and His Law written upon the tablet of his heart.
Samson and David fell into illicit and adulterous lives because the did not quit the arena of sin when they were tempted. Judas Iscariot fell for the love of money and sold his Master for 30 pieces of silver, thereby ruined himself.
Proverbs 1:10 warns, "My son, if sinners entice you, do not give in to them." Temptation to get rich quickly, security of life that makes people to bow down to Satan in joining cultism should be avoided. Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ will save you from these enticed perils. To overcome temptation as a child of God, you need God's grace by His Spirit never to give in to the sinner's enticement.
As you go your way, learn to pray, deliver me not into temptation, and live your life under His grace. Don't underrate the devil. Be sensitive and rely on the victory inherent in Jesus Christ.
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, give me the grace never to give in to sinner's enticement.
2. Lord, purge me of every unwholesome thought and tendenecy latent in me that can aid my falling into temptation at any point in time.
3. No matter the devil tries to get me and my family, he has failed, in Jesus' name.

ANOINTING WITHOUT REPENTANCE

READ ACTS 19:13-17

MEMORISE: Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. (Matthew 7:21)

One big question to be answered is if it is possible to carry the anointing of God without repentance. Of course, it is possible. Character is different from charisma. Charisma can lead one to limelight while only character will sustain one in the limelight.

Going through the length and breadth of the Bible, we see a lot of pseudo believers; we call them believers, Christians, Apostles, Pastors, Bishops, Evangelists, etc. Jesus says that by their fruit we shall know them. What are you known for?

Ananias and Sapphira never truly repented; they ended in shame and untimely death. Saul, the first king in Israel chosen by God fell out of grace because of his undue uncultured love for material wealth and position consciousness. Demas, the Bible says, love the world and abandoned the course of the gospel. Samson was another notable person who died with his enemies all because he carried the anointing but lacked the character. Are there no such people in the Church today—the likes of Simon the sorcerer who wanted the gift of God without actually being ready to change from the evil ways?

Whatever gift you have without having had genuine repentance will lead to jeopardy. The seven sons of Sceva can tell. Those who consult oracles, cultists, herbalists for power even in the Church should bee prepares for God's wrath unless they repent now. Do you want to become an anointed singer, deacon, deaconess, minister? The first step is repentance, genuine repentance. Are you ready?

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Lord, let me not incur Your wrath by trying to work for You when You have not worked in/on me.

2. Lord, deliver this nation from deceievers who disguise as Your shepherds. Withdraw your power and anointing from them if they don't repent.

3. Pray that God should expose and disgrace every so called minister of God using means in the Church if they fail to repent.

When i saw the op, i thought it was about the story of jesus and the women at the well..i have another take on the story. The women has been married to 5 Husbands in the past..me think that the reason she did that was because she was looking for a child as all the men in her life could not make her pregnant..so jesus volunterred to give her his living water(sperm)..i guess that was why she took him home..the holy spirit just ministered that to me...

WORK... WORK... WORK...

READ PROVERBS 6:6-11

MEMORISE: Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its way and be wise (Proverbs 6:6)

Work ethics is a principle that teaches the significance, value and dignity of labour. Labour in this context is work done using the strength of the body, i.e. to work hard at physical work. The importance of work cannot be overemphasized. Work is sweet and hard work brings health, fame and wealth. However, not many people love to work. Some people consider hard labour as hardship, especially when they are to take instructions, as to how to perform the task. Many people expect manner to fall from heaven rather than work hard to earn their living (Pro 24:33,34). Jettison wrong perspectives to work from today and always.

God is a worker. He worked for six days and rested just a day, the seventh day (Gen 2:1-3). He is never lazy; He admonishes us all to emulate His attitude to work on and in us. We are all work in progress in His hands, meaning, God has not ceased walking. You cannot afford to be lazy. No one who is lazy can ever fulful the will of God over his/her life (Pro 26:15).

The text for today indicts the lazy people who love to beg for food to eat when they can work for same. Lazy people are usually desirous and fond of wishful thinking. Whereas, if wishes were horses, the "sluggard" would ride.

That the Scripture uses mere ants as model of dignity of labour for these people, shows the worthlessness of their actions and God's disposition towards being sluggard. Imagine, the writer of the book rating an ant over the slothful. Terrible! An ant has no supervisor. Yet, it knows when to gather and where to store. No perpetual dependency. A beggar has no future, no dignity. Stop living by begging.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. I destroy the spirit of laziness in my lifee, in Jesus' name. Lord, fill me with the power of industry.

2. Lord, give me the sincere and right perspective to work, and bless the work of my hands like you did to Isaac.

MEMORISE: God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground." (Gen 1:28)

Multiplication and unprecedented increase shall unstoppably be your lot this year, in Jesus' name. Nothing gladdens the heart and generates excitement as the experience of great unprecedented increase and multiplication in all ramifications. The rich fool's bountiful harvest turned his head and made his heart to swell. He was condemned because of his lack of recourse to the God of increase and multiplication (Luke 12:15-21). Isaac's great increase during an austere period is a sign of how God blesses His people who love Him and adds no unnecessary struggle (Gen 26:12,13)

Man's God-ordained mission statement read, 'God bless them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it..."'. Therefore, man was created for this purpose. The young lad in Matthew, by his generosity drew God's blessing and became a blessing to over 5000 attendees during one of Jesus' gospel camping. Calculate the ratio of 12 baskets to 5 loaves and 2 fish. You see God in action?

The widow in 1 King 17, by her obedience and kindness became richly blessed with abundant supplies in the midst of a very severe famine. Seeking divine help and assistance saved another widow with her two sons (2 Kings 4:1ff). In Samaria, by divine intervention the protracted scarcity was turned to surplus overnight (2 Kings 7:1ff). It is your turn to experience unstoppable multiplication and flood-like increase. Be attentive and sensitive as God makes you see His provisional blessings for you. It starts now.

1. Lord Jesus, set my life up with Your unprecedented blessings and breakthrough.

2. My destiny, attract divine multiplication and increase, and cease from meanness and meagreness.

THE FOOD OF HARD LABOUR

READ GENESIS 2:1-3

MEMORISE: In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat—for he grants sleep to those he loves (Psalm 127:2)

Rest is the food of hard labour. After period of hard labour, moment of rest is more than necessary. Our God gives us the example of how to enjoy rest. God rested on the 7th day to teach us imperativeness of rest after work. Was God susceptible to stress or fatigue? Not at all. He did it to teach us the imperativeness of rest to our wellness. He gave us the ordinance of Sabbatical rest. Rest is the only antidote to stress. Restlessness is not God's making. Man's body metabolism is programmed in such a way to entertain rest and work. God commanded that the seventh day of the week be for rest. That is the idea of the Sabbath day. Do you keep it holy? God also makes provision for the ground to rest after the sixth year of cultivation. In crop production, it is called bush fallowing. Another provision for rest is the Jubilee, the year of liberty. It is a resting and liberation period and moment of bliss.

It is high time you began to appreciate, embrace and enjoy this God-given privilege, called rest. The Bible condemns the vicious cycle of rising very early and coming back very late. That us not work, but toil, according to our memory scripture. Began to trust God for His blessings, from today, so that you are not over-laboured.

Working all through the days of the week, including Sundays, which is earmarked for God, does not make you any better. Those who do this live miserable lives instead. Cultivate the habit of taking rest, so that you don't die before your days. In the meantime, know that God gives sleep to those He loves. Be teachable (Mark 6:30,31).

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Oh Lord, give me rest from all my labour. I refuse to toil fruitlessly in life.

2. Lord, help me to always keep Your ordinances to letter, including the ordinance of the Sabbath.

3. Pray that the purpose, programmes and projects of our leaders will conform with the standards of the Kings of kings.

Watching a-year-old boy repeatedly trying to climb on top of the living room’s centre table with excitement raises some striking moral and spiritual lessons. Climbing didn’t seem to be much ado. Descending was it. Sooner than expected, the initial excitement turned to fear that popped up in his little mind. It is a similar experience for a Christian who climbs the height of sin and suddenly realizes he can’t return to fellowship with the Father. The Apostle Paul was not left out of the experience. He once exclaimed: What a wretched man I am! He didn’t stop at that; he cried for deliverance: Who shall deliver me from this body of death?

On many occasions, a father would watch his son try out all his efforts until the toddler begins to sweat, pant and cry for help. At such points, the father reaches out to let the boy down from the fearful height that once generated momentary excitement. The same way, God watches His blood-bought children and potential believers struggling with sin and weaknesses until they cry unto Him for deliverance after having warned and given them the way out. Two hymnists seem to have travelled the road, and offer the following advice: C.H Morris: If you are tired of the load of your sin, Let Jesus into your heart; and J.E. Rankin: Have you sins that to men’s eyes are hidden? Tell it to Jesus alone.

To prosper, admit that you need God’s help, confess and forsake your sins, then cry for His deliverance. He’ll in no wise cast you away. He that covers what is not coverable shall not prosper. Confess, forsake and continue.

PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, do not leave me to myself. Don’t let sinful habits and practices overwhelm me.
2. O Lord God of mercy, let Your mercy clear my mess and make my life a message to believers and unbelievers alike.
3. Father, grant speed to Word in the hands of the ministers of your gospel.

God will never cease to amaze His people. His covenant relationship with them places some indispensable requirements and mercy to prosper (Prov. 28:13). So was the experience of the invalid man who had been at Betheseda for 38 years. All that Jesus needed to heal him was to see the invalid and declare His authority to heal and forgive, not minding the day, time or season. Being in the city of mercy (Bethsaida) without mercy for so long was a serious matter.

'When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, He asked him, "Do you want to get well?"' (John 5:6). The man began to tell a story that would have been so long and nauseating enough for Jesus to abandon him in the condition. Obviously, the man knew almost next to nothing about the person and power of Jesus Christ, in the same way as he had very little or no faith for the moment.

Albeit, Jesus said to him, "Get up! Pick up your mat and walk". And that settled everything. The distressfulness of his sickness did not matter anymore. The duration of the sickness did not matter again. Jesus exercised authority over the 38-year old ailment. He did it unconditionally by His unquestionable grace.

Today, His power is still the same (Heb. 13:cool. He can do the same for you. He will surely locate you with His immeasurable blessings occasioned by His grace. He will locate you today and be merciful unto you. Are you ready?

PRAYER POINTS:

1. O God of signs and wonders, use my life to prove You unquestionable Lordship and Kingship, in Jesus' name.

2. My Lord, my God, prove Yourself mighty at every point of my life where others and even I might have given up or lost hope.

3. Lord Jesus, behold our Church and nation to perform the healing of our systems and structures in a way that transcends our faith.

Many nations of the world are either living at the fear of, or battling with terrorists and other armed bandits at the moment. The quality of strategies and the quantity of energies determine which side mounts more pressure on the other. Many lethal weapons have been in use in recent times. Pump action guns, grenades, explosives and aerial equipment in the hands of soldiers and terrorists or robbers have wrecked a lot of havoc on innocent civilians and ruined many settlements.

But the Bible mentions one weapon that is the most dangerous, most deadly, most poisonous and most lethal; the weapon that can kill without necessarily being taken to the war front. It is the tongue. It wields so much power that it determines the direction of one’s life despite its small size.

It has put asunder so many marriages that God had originally put together. It is used to utter destructive, malignant, gossiping, critical and backbiting words. There is no end to the description of what evil the tongue has done and still does through those ignorant of or neglect God’s purpose for the tongue.

Dear reader, use your tongue wisely, to proclaim the gospel (Acts 1:cool, teach your children aright, comfort the hurting, (Prov 12:25), reconcile the warring parties (Matt 5:9), and using songs of praise to God (Psa 71:8; Eph 5:19). Remember, The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit (Prov 18:21).

1. Lord, You touched Moses’ stammering tongue to declare Your words to Pharaoh; lose my tongue to declare Your Words of power always.
2. Lord, caution every believer to always mind the use of our tongues so that we don’t be on collision course with You.

Undoubtedly, ours is a praying generation, but sad to say, the value and quality of most prayers might just past for wasting precious time. Praying is very good and commanded by our Lord. Maya Angelou said in one of her quotes, ‘I can be changed by what happened to me. But I refuse to be reduced by it’.

There was once a woman caught in adultery, during the time of Jesus. But with whom? Were the Pharisees who supposedly caught her really guiltless or better? Why did they bring her alone? Doesn’t it take two to tango? Anyway, they were only out to nail Christ by His response. They knew the Law of Moses but failed to acknowledge the one who made Moses. Jesus had told them that He did not come to abolish the law, rather, He came for its fulfilment (Matt. 5:17). Unknown to them, it was another avenue for Christ to fulfil His purpose (Luke 5:32). Why did they all leave the scene? All have sinned…. (Rom 3:23). They were judged by their consciences (Rom 2:14) and left sorrowfully.

Instead for condemning the woman as the people wanted Him to, Jesus set her free, but with a condition: Sin no more. To keep our salvation, we must forsake sin. Old things must pass away (2 Cor 5:17). Instead of death, the owner of life gave her FREEDOM.

Most likely, the woman’s heart was ready for cleansing going by the unmerited favour she enjoyed, having admitted her guilt, and Jesus knew it. He would not condemn her because that was why He came (Lk 5:32; Cf. Ezk 34:23,32). Christ is very interested in our new lives of holiness, faith and obedience in Him. Sin no more, so that you won’t continue wasting His time and blood. Besides, deliberately sinning after being saved is suicidal (Heb 10:26-31).

Also, don’t be caged by your past. Confess it, receive God’s forgiveness, change and continue living for Him unto eternity. Remember: the eyes of the Lord don’t behold sin. Go now and leave your life of sin.

1. Lord, give me the heart of true repentance and the power to sin no more, In Jesus’ name.
2. Lord, I come to You. Deliver me from Saran’s accusations.

FREEDOM INDEED

READ LUKE 8:31-41

MEMORISE: Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed (John 8:32,36)

Every man desires freedom; God created man a free moral agent. Different nations celebrate their independence with pomp and pageantry. Nigeria does hers every 1st of October. This is not untrue in the spiritual sense. The question then arises as to what true freedom is, because what a lot of people call freedom is nothing but undue indulgence. For example, the Jews of Jesus' days misconstrued slavery as being under colonialism (v. 33; cf. Acts 1:6-cool. The slavery that we all must dead that is to sin, which deprives one of the every good thing in God (Jn 8:34,35; Rom 6:23a).

According to our Lord and model, Jesus, the true source of freedom is holding unto His teachings (Jn 8:31,32). Since He is the Truth (Jn 14:6), His teachings constitute the truth. Searching for truth elsewhere is like looking for the living among the dead.

The Jews of Jesus' time never knew they were slaves (of sins and to the devil). They never knew (or accepted) that the greatest slavery is spiritual. Are you really free? (v. 33)—freedom form Satan (the source of evil), sin ( the root of evil) and self (the agent of evil). Jesus actually came for this (Psa 107:20; Rom 6:5-14; 1 Jn 3:cool.

Only Jesus, the Son of God, can set you free from all your fears—Satan, sin, self and the evil world (Jn 8:36). Accept Him NOW! Embrace His WORD passionately as we celebrate our nation's independence.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Lord, You have sent Your Word. Help me to embrace and relate with Him properly.

2. Lord, as we celebrate the independence of our dear nation, send Your Word to quell the darkness of sin and wickedness in the nation.

3. Pray that every believer expected to shine the light of Christ's truth and holiness in the nation be empowered and emboldened to do accordingly without delay.

DON'T ABUSE YOUR FREEDOM

READ GALATIANS 5:1-13

MEMORISE: You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love (Galatians 5:13)

South Africans who witnessed the era of apartheid between 1948 and the early 1990's when unnatural and undue dichotomy between the whites (those of European origin) and the blacks (the original inhabitants) was imposed, giving undue privileges to the whites, can better explain the difference between freedom and slavery of any kind. It cost Madiba (Nelson Mandela) 27-year jail term to fight the scenario to a standstill. Can they tolerate recolonization?

Jesus fought the devil to give us freedom (Rom 8:1), setting us free from the law of sin and death through the law of His life-giving Spirit. No true freedom elsewhere (Acts 4:12).

Freedom (the state of being able to live and act without undue restrictions) is sweet. Slavery is callous, inhumane and ungodly, having no respect for human rights. But surprisingly, some Christians prefer returning to slavery or choose to abuse their freedom. How? Faith based on legalism and rituals, washings, particular colours, faith on man-made prophecies, names of angels, too much 'reliance' on names of founders and 'papas', etc. (Col 2:16-21).

It is expedient for us to understand what our freedom in Christ entails, as detailed in the Bible, so that we don't misuse God's grace. We don't know of Christianity without the God-given and Bible-based standards. When people sin and rationalize, how? "It doesn't matter, God understands," they are missing it.

As Nigeria celebrates her independence, may we receive the grace not to misuse our freedom in Christ Jesus. Amen.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Lord, deliver me from undue cravings for the pleasures of the world.

2. Oh Lord, deliver everyone under the captivity of the devil and darkness and translate them to Your Kingdom of light.

3. Lord, visit all the nations of the world currently being besieged by the evil forces of anti-Christianity with Your deliverance.

YOU ARE NOT INDISPENSABLE

READ PSALM 78:54-59

MEMORISE: When God heard them, He was angry; He rejected Israel completely. (Psalm 78:59)

The history of God's dealings with Israel is carefully summarizes in Psalm 78. He did so much to make them His relevant, covenant people. Familiarity, contempt soon set in that they began to take Him for granted.

God has expectations for every person, believer, church and nation. From unbelievers, God expects that they repent and accept His Lordship in Christ Jesus. For believers, He expects that they continue to grow in faith, living purposeful lives. In His well-deserved expectations, God is very patient and forbearing. Unfortunately, man has been known to overstretch God's patience and forbearance (Deut 29:33).

The Israelites perished in the wilderness when they did not change (Num 11:11). God turned Nebuchadnezzar into a beast when he refused to repent. God has different ways He can change anybody. These range from outright Replacement into humiliation, affliction with sorrow, affliction with reprobate mind, penury, withdrawal from divine support, polluted anointing, debilitating health challenges, and premature death.

This is another channel God's warning to you. Please, turn a new leaf from waywardness, critical attack of God's work, resentment towards God's anointed, absence from fellowship, lackadaisical attitude to God's cause, stinginess, etc. If God didn't spare His people Israel when they forsook Him, nobody who continues in sin is indispensable to Him, including you. Be humble and wise!

PRAYER POINTS

1. Father, please forgive my complacency and pride by which I overstretch Your grace.

2. Holy Spirit, help me to remain obedient and humble to You so that I will not be humiliated, in Jesus' name.

3. Lord, visit Your church with Holy Ghost and Fire to consume every element delaying the expected revival.

BE REAL

READ MATTHEW 6:1-18

MEMORISE: Be careful not to do your 'acts of righteousness' before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. (Matthew 6:1)

It is challenging to study the early disciples' testimony in Acts 11:26. Their being identified as little christs didn't consist in their flowing robes or sanctimonious garments. It was not in their slogans. They were dutifully and conscientiously fulfulling the Words of the Master in today's text. The Master had taught them to be real. He charged them to avoid hypocrisy in doing their "acts of righteousness (giving, praying and fasting) before men". When emphasis shifts from righteousness to acts of righteousness, hypocrisy sets in. And that is the unfortunate position of many in today's church.

Hypocrisy is one major factor inhibiting unbelievers (potential believers) from coming to Christ. The way the so-called 'born again' Christians conduct themselves in the neighbourhood, at work and in schools has made many to see Christians as out-of-the-world people who are in touch with the society. We may not be out of the world. Yet, we are in the world so as to win the world for Christ by embracing the realities of life. Sadly, those who act as if they've gotten everything together are not even genuine! (Matt. 23:13)

It is high time you stopped living like you dropped from some distant planet, as if you have no feelings, as if whatever goes on in the society does not concern you. It is time to ask yourself: 'Whom do people really see when they come close to me?' Do I really portray the life of Christ anywhere I find myself in the society? "Woe to you", Jesus said, "because you are like the unmarked graves, which men walk over without knowing it" (Luke 11:44). As from today, decide to be real. And be real and walk in reality of His Word.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Lord, help me to live the life You desire for me, to give meaning to Your unprecedented sacrifice even among unbelievers.

2. Father, expose every hypocritical, 'mask-wearing' people giving bad image to Christian faith in the world, in Jesus' name.

3. Lord, let there be revival of holiness and righteousness in churches and in our nation.

STOLEN WATERS AREN'T SWEET?

READ PROVERBS 9:14-18

MEMORISE: She sits at the door of her house, on a seat at the highest point of the city, calling out to those who pass by, who go straight on their way. (Prov 9:14-15)

Like the harlot who is not ashamed to put her chair outside in the open where she can be seen, so is the chief tempter who is out to seduce many into sin and into all kinds of vain affections. Part of what she sells are water and bread, but you can only steal from her because they don't actually belong to you. She tells you it is sweet. But, so many people have not taken their time to ask how sweet stolen water can be. It is drunk in impatience and fear. It has sent many to their early graves.

Looking at the world today, one sees that it is becoming almost easiest to sin than to love God, especially in this end time. Money is stolen. Cars are stolen. Even wives and husbands are stolen. How well can you enjoy what is stolen? Someone has asked, Where will he who steals the horn of the king blows it without being caught and committed to the inner prison?

Dear reader, how many times have you been dragged near the pit of sin. Or may have even fallen into the pit of unrighteousness like Amnon (2 Samuel 13:14,28,29) and Reuben (Gen 35:22)? He who falls into the pit of unrighteousness loses control of his destiny (2 Kings 5:22-27) and becomes like chaff blown away by the wind of life (Psalm 1:4), without hope, vision and inheritance, and ready to waste away in death. That will not be your portion, in Jesus' name. Do you say, Amen? 'Amen' alone doesn't solve the issue. You have to be resolute that water or bread, you will not steal whatever God has not given to you.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Lord, forgive me the sins of covetousness and stealing in whatever form.

2. Lord, help me by Your Spirit to refocus my attention away from the tempting worldly sinful things to Your Holy standard and things.

3. Ask that the mighty Hand of God will stop the spate of selfish grabbing tendencies among our leaders by impoverishing the populace.

THE GOD-PLEASING VESSEL


READ 2 TIMOTHY 2:19-26

MEMORISE: If a man cleanses himself from the latter, he will be an instrument for noble purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work. (2 Tim 2:21)

The idea of the moulded clay in Genesis 1 is that man would be a vessel to carry God's life, presence and power. The mould remains useless, meaningless and lifeless until the content (breath of life) came into it. We are vessels in God's hand. A vessel is a receptacle, a material that is designed to convene, carry or carry out something. A vessel can be an article or an instrument. A vessel is someone who is an embodiment of potentials. God's design is that we fulfil specific roles in His eternal arrangement just as every vessel in the home has specific purpose according to the manufacturer.

Vessels that God uses are in various categories. According to Paul, there are articles of gold, silver, wood and clay (v. 20). Today there are polythene and metallic articles in the house. All these are different in terms of quality and durability, and these determine their different usages and the categories of people that make use of them or that they are found with.

In view of the aforesaid, these different materials are further broken down into two (noble and ignoble), according to quality and usefulness. To what category do you belong? Nobility or ignobility of a vessel is a function of its preparation, separation and dedication.

God expects yieldingness from every vessel. That is the reason why He lamented on the attitude of the house of Israel in Jeremiah 18:1-6. In itself, every vessel is empty, hence, there is need for in-filling of God's power (Joel 2:28). The honour of the king makes the king's horse honourable. As a vessel you need the in-filling of God's Spirit. Present your vessel for refilling.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Lord, help me to remain a vessel for Your glorious use all the days of my life.

2. Lord, protect every vessel You are using for Your glory from every form of contamination and corruption.

3. Lord, shamefully expose and deal with all satanic agents disguising as Your ministers and trying to lure away Your sheep from Your fold.

PERSONAL QUALITIES OF GOOD LEADERS

READ HEBREWS 11:24-27

MEMORISE: Now Moses was a very humble man, more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth. (Numbers 12:3).

The purpose of leadership is primarily God's glory and the welfare of the people being led. Leadership is not lordship over the people; it is servanthood. In God's work, leadership is very crucial. Leaders determine the pace and focus of the people they lead.

Who is a leader? Simply put, a leader is a person who leads. He is a person who has a God-given vision, a drive and a commitment to achieve that vision and the skills to make it happen. He is also a person who influences a group of people towards the achievement of a goal. This calls for certain personal qualities on the part of the leader himself. No nation, institution, organization or family can be greater than the quality of its leaders

Personal attributes of effective leaders include the following:
— Exemplary character - are you worth following?
— Passion: Good leaders are enthusiastic about their work/course and role.
— Faith in God. A good leader exhibits confidence and possibility
— Orderliness. A good leader also needs to function in an orderly and purposeful manner in situations of uncertainty. Leaders are not haphazard.
— Composure. Good leaders are tolerant of ambiguity and remain calm and steadfast to the main purpose.
— Discretion. A good leader, as well as keeping the main goal in focus, is able to think analytically.
— Commitment. A good leader is committed to excellence.

There can never be greatness in leadership without a focused attention on developing and imbibing the qualities and virtues of greatness. Be committed to these.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Lord, help me to develop the qualities for greatness.

2. Lord, bless us with godly quality leaders in our churches and nation.

3. Lord, let every apostate believer see the dangers of prodigality and return home to the You with broken, contrite heart.

LEARN FROM JOSEPH'S LEADERSHIP (1)

READ LUKE 16:10-13

MEMORISE: Whoever can be trusted with very little can be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. (Luke 16:10)

Joseph the son of Jacob is a classic example of youthfulness, usefulness and fruitfulness over a lifetime in God's service of leadership in whatever capacity. Though he passed through lots of challenging and unpleasant phases in his life adventure, at every point, he prove himself a capable leader.

A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way. Leadership is heavy; it is weighty and must only be approached with utmost care. As a leader, you must be careful lest you miss your place in God's bosom. If Joseph as a youth could climb up to the position of a Prime Minister in a strange land, then you also as a youth can become somebody significant in God's hand. Do you know that it was the usefulness of Joseph that made that position to be created for him? You also can use the tool of being useful as a youth to create a leadership position for yourself in line with God's eternal purpose for your life.

Usefulness which leads to greatness starts from being faithful in discharging small responsibilities. Learn from Joseph's faithfulness in Potiphar's home, even with the wife. Remember his faithful leadership ever in prison. No wonder he soon assumed his place on the throne.

Where you are now? Are you faithful? Can you be trusted by your superiors? Can your followers vouch for your truthfulness? That'll determine your altitude in life and in leadership.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Lord, as I step out today, and all through my life, I shall be useful, fruitful and relevant in Your purpose.

2. Lord, I refuse to be condemned on the last day by the faithfulness of Joseph.

3. Ask God to cause both the leaders and the led, at the various levels in our nation, to do their services as unto Him all the time.

LEARN FROM JOSEPH'S LEADERSHIP (2)

READ GENESIS 41:14-36

MEMORISE: Joseph is a fruitful vine, a fruitful vine near a spring, whose branches climb over a wall. (Genesis 49:22)

Joseph remains one of the most outstanding characters of the O.T. In the course of his life journey, he found himself in different settings, yet at each stage he proved his usefulness and versatility. In his parent's house, he was always available for his father's errands, being dependable and trustworthy. In the Ishmaelites' hands who bought him as slaves, he remained calm, trusting God for the best. Here, he maintained his integrity.

When he was sold to Potiphar's house (Gen 39:4), his faithfulness stood out such that he was entrusted with his master's household, becoming a blessing to the household (Gen 39:5). Furthermore, in the prison, his faithfulness, usefulness and relevance continued, such that he was put in-charge of all the prisoners (Gen 39:22), even becoming their cheerleader and motivator (Gen 40:12). Those qualities soon paved way for him to the top.

At the King's Palace, he faithfully and humbly interpreted the King's dreams (Gen 41:33,40). That led him to the throne. And on the throne as Prime Minister, he used his wisdom and leadership skills to save his world from extinction (Gen 41:48,56,56). He was always a solution to the situation of people he came across. Here was a man filled with the Spirit of God.

Joseph's life all through poses a great challenge of faithfulness, usefulness and fruitfulness to all of us today (1 Cor 10:11). Are you ready to catch and follow his godly and God-approved spirit? Notice his life of integrity, living above discouragement, and uncommon wisdom. It is possible with you.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Lord, clothe me with the grace of lifetime usefulness and relevance.

2. Lord, move against every satanic move to scuttle Your eternal programme for this nation, in Jesus' name.

3. Lord, move against every satanic move to scuttle Your eternal programme for our Church, in Jesus' name.

WHY LEADERS FAIL (1)

READ NUMBERS 20:1-13

MEMORISE: But the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, "Because you did not trust in me enough to honour Me as Holy in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this community into the land I give them." (Numbers 20:12)

The failure on the part of Moses and Aaron, despite their outstanding qualities, to successfully lead Israel into the Promised Land should always be a lesson to leaders of all times. Leadership failure is common in every generation. A plethora of factors can be highlighted as reasons for this:

1. Murmuring and complaining (Num 11:11-15): When Moses himself lost sight of his privileged call to lead, and began to complain, it brought a severe drop to his life. Beware of doubting God's ability.

2. Unbelief (Num 11:18-23): Unbelief in the leader's life can make him/her not to be of lasting effect. Moses played a significant role in Israelites' lives, yet he didn't reach the Promise Land.

3. A shift in focus: This can appear in form of losing sight of what's important. The laser-like focus that catapulted Moses and Aaron to the top waned, causing distraction by the trapping of leadership, e.g. wealth, notoriety, etc.

4. Poor communication: Lack of focus and its resulting disorientation typically leads to poor communication. Followers won't understand the leader's intent when the latter isn't sure what it is. And when leaders are unclear about their own purpose, they often hide their confusion and uncertainty in ambiguous communication.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Lord, give me victory over all challenges awaiting me at the various junctures of success in leadership.

2. Lord, help all stakeholders to close and monitor the back-doors of our churches against unnecessary loss of members.

3. Pray that God should send packing the spirit of impatience in the youths leading them into social vices, including robbery, money rituals, etc. and eventual destruction.
