I have. It was delivered in about 2 weeks...to my house in Lagos.

eddycross:

I used standard, sent it to an address in the US and it was scanned to me. I did not want to waste time with posting to Nigeria, and also risk loosing the mail.

Some people here have used international courier. Then you can have it sent to your address here in Nigeria.

Hi,
Just woke up to see that the document checklist for me has being updated following the two day maintenance cic was doing. One new checklist for me is proof that my sister resides in canada and an example of the document to show is a copy of bank statement or utility bill showing the relative's address. Now previous to them updating the checklist, I tried collecting my sister's bank statement and she said that it has her old address and that she cannot give me because she doesn't want her sensitive information out there like that. She then gave me her cell phone bills which has her current address on it and a letter from her employer saying she's employed by the company and works out of their vancouver office.

Now, I don't know if I can use these two documents as my proof that she resides in canada given that its not one of the example documents stated in checklist. I also don't know if cell phone bills count as utility bills in canada because I know generally utility bills are normally gas and electric. I also tried to get gas or electric bill from her but she lives with a friend and the gas/electric bills as well as the lease are all in her friend's name since she's the renter of the house.

Am curious to know from anyone who has gone through this process and has a relative who is permanently residing in canada, what documents they sent as proof of their relative residing in canada and whether or not the documents i currently have for this is okay.

The phone bill suffices. That is what my BIL provided to support our application.

Even banks accept phone bills for proof of address as part of "Know Your Customer" (KYC) documentation.

Just to reiterate @WunmiAdeaj, this may help others.

Simply state he is UNACCOMPANYING and based on that I do not think he will be asked to go for medicals or Police report.
If you say he is accompanying and does medicals and police report and when they ask for Passport and he is unavailable to submit passport, you are STUCK and unless you provide divorce papers (to show that your circumstance has changed), you will be on that spot. One of my clients passport was withheld for 10 months until his wife submitted her passport because he had stated they are going together. (He was asked to submit passports and submitted his own alone. That is almost a year of being stranded in the country and not able to even proceed on vacation outside the country)

Secondly, if you drag him/her along by force and you guys finally fall out, you are responsible for that dependent for 3 years, because you showed proof that you are capable of supporting that Dependent. Whatever benefits the spouse claim within that 3 years will be converted to loan for you as principal applicant and you are also responsible for the child for 10 years or when she/she clocks 25 years.
Just like in the US, if you married a Citizen and you are granted Greencard, you must stay in that marriage for 2 years. If you opt out of the marriage before the 2 year lapse, your greencard automatically becomes invalid and revoked.

Cheers

Please do we have to notarize this type of letter? Thank you

eddycross:

This is fine.

Don't forget to get a Business card from this person as well... You can scan this along with the letter. Hope you have a clear view of what the letter should contain though.

All the best.

Sorry, I do not have the answer to your question but I'm curious to know whether you were asked to provide evidence to show that she's actually your sister.

Even if unaccompanied, PCC and medicals are required so far the marital status is married.

OK. Thanks. I also have a cousin in Canada, can I use his address for the delivery since I will also be sent a softcopy. Do I really need the hard copy?

I chose 'standard' and received the hard copy in Lagos about 2 weeks after I received the soft copy.

I hear you can use the soft copy for post ITA, so, I don't see any reason why you should choose the more expensive option.

You do not need the hard copy, all information you need will be on the soft copy. You can send it to your cousin's address

Whether the spouse is accompanying or not, once you state you are married, the spouse will be required to do medicals and submit PCC. I have read of a situation where someone's application was rejected because the person did not submit medical for a child that his ex gained full custody of and did not allow the child to do medicals.

I also don't think you will be held responsible for benefits claimed by spouse when you get to Canada as you will both be PR then. Once you both get the PR, you both have equal access to benefits.

I think I understand Wunmi very well. Getting the husband involved seems to be almost impossible and I understand that very well. Alot of things have happened between them and going to talk to him about travelling, visa, etc. isn't just possible.

Unfortunately, getting a divorce takes time, using separated or married but spouse not accompanying still requires medicals/husband travel history/physical involvement(I think). It's a difficult situation for her. All she wants is how to travel without the husband coming in at any stage and that shouldn't be questioned I think.

Personally, I think using separated(as marital status) shouldn't require much of spouse input especially with an LOE that he isn't forthcoming due to the differences between the couple. Our legal system is not really helping us considering the duration of perfecting the papers.

IMO, she truly needs an immigration lawyer especially Canadian. Not to fill the EE form but to ask how/the best way to go about her application and the possibility of not physically involving her husband at any point despite her status. I think these lawyers like attorney David have different packages. The cheapest one which doesn't involve them doing the whole thing for you should be okay. Please mail them to hear from them first.

You can use standard unless you don't mid paying more for international Courier. I used standard and got it delivered. The time it takes to be delivered is not an issue as you can use the soft copy sent by email for almost everything express entry.

Exactly, she can book initial consultation with any of them, just to hear their opinion and know the way forward. She should be able to get one for under 200 CDN dollars. I think that is the only way forward at this point.

That will amount to misrepresentation, and if caught she will be banned for 5 years and she also might have some documents in her married name that might be difficult or almost impossible to change, an example is her passport. If she has it in her married name and she goes to immigration to change the name, they will ask for a divorce certificate.

Yes. All of your accompanying and non-accompanying dependants must have a medical exam performed by a Panel Physician approved by Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

Non-accompanying dependants must undergo a medical exam to make sure they are admissible to Canada. They must be admissible to maintain their eligibility to be sponsored by their family members in the future.

Having inadmissible dependants might make you inadmissible as an applicant for permanent residence.

Hmmm, it is a very difficult situation as your application will be put on hold and you will get a Procedural fairness letter indicating that your spouse medical condition will be of excessive demand on health and social services. You will be given about 60 days to respond and provide proofs that the opposite is the case.
If you had known before of your spouse status before the medicals, I am sure he will be on medications already. You will have to provide proofs that the cost of the drugs and other treatments for 5-10 years is within the limit of about $6.600 per year (this amount is also dependent on the province).

If you just got to know about his/her HIV status, then you will, have to check the viral load and start him/her on antiretroviral drugs immediately. It is after then you can assess his/her situation and then determine if he/she will be of excessive demand to Canad health service. You might also swear an affidavit that you will personally take care of the medical costs and you will not rely on the government. You will need substantial proof of source of funds for this. You will not be able to do that in some provinces.

Check this link for more info.

Hi Guys,

Please, I need clarification.

My spouse's highest level of education is Masters. For ECA, is he meant to evaluate both BSc and MSc or just his highest qualification.

Thanks

Hello House,
I'm totally new to this thread, though i have gotten a lot of priceless information but i have a question.

My husband is the primary applicant, He's a medical doctor, he practised for a year and he presently works in a Health management organisation (HMO), is it possible to combine the two work experience, to claim points for 3years or just stick with the one year Hospital experience?
depends on his role in the HMO. If he works in a clinic in the HMO then you can combine it. there's also a job title named managers in healthcare. He could check if his job duties qualify under.
Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by dupyshoo: 10:20am On Jun 08, 2017
I am not sure indicating separated and just LOE will work. She will need to show evidences that the divorce process has started. If not, she will have to get him to provide a sworn statement that they are separated, that he has no intention of reconciliation, no intention of ever immigrating to Canada, and agrees that she can never sponsor him for immigration, then IRCC may accept that.

This applies to those that are sponsoring their dependants after becoming PR. You will have to sign that undertaking before you are allowed to sponsor dependants. You don't sign anything like that as a PA when applying for PR together.
