XGhost: Have been so busy to reply you... what you need to be asking me is how much is my maintenance costs etc.. You are talking about assumptions .. Deal with facts and facts only... yes we can agree that profitability is not like what it used to be ,when uber first came into Nigeria market.. That is Fact #1 ...Fact #2 it does not mean that the business is not profitable... also my profitability is a combination of at least 5 things... 1. Good driver ...if you have a good driver, your maintenance costs will reduce.. If the driver drives responsible, it will cut down on cost. 2. Mechanic... you need a mechanic that it is trust worthy. In the past I had very bad mechanic.. A lot of them use wrong parts and did poo jobs. I found out that I end up replacing the same parts over and over again.. It was a nightmare, most time the mechanic was using wrong parts... the new mechanic I have now is very good... 3. Maintenance... I maintain my cars very well ..from experience bad oil, coolant etc were constant issues for me. I had to sell all my uber cars due to the issue .now I do my own oil change and use my own oil filter.. With Mobil 1 oil Extended performance.. I change my oil and filters every 12k miles.. Compare that to someone changing every month and spending 5k naira doing oil change.. 4. Types of vehicles... for you to succeed in this uber business.. You need good cars and reliable cars too.. You have to look at the currant profit margin of the business.. You have to t yourself, those it make sense buying corolla ,elantra, for the business.. Especially when the cost of those cars tokunbo go for about 1.6m upwards.. At the beginning I was shouting elantra up and down .. But as the profitability of uber changes, I had to adjust myself.. It didn't make any business using a car of 1.6m for uber anymore.. How long would it take you to make your money back.. So I had to look for alternative and I started using 03 to 05 civics. Those cars are great and rugged enough for uber.. And the landing cost for me is just excellent.. If I tell you my landing cost, you will not believe me ..so I don't need to reveal that to anyone... Conclusion : Just because you didn't succeed in something ,does not mean others can't succeed ... once I get my other business running and stabilise, I will stop posting on the forum or I will do less of posting.. No matter how much you try to teach people, they still don't get it .. And pretty soon people will wonder why the next person in the same line of business is doing better... people need to learn from others... 3 Likes 1 Share |

Gentlelife50: There is nothing wrong with him singing uber still pays.. You don't know how many life's he has change.. You don't know how many has gotten motivation from is singing tunes.. Let him be at the end of the day ,only a few will get the message.. That is the the huge gap between the rich and poor .. The successful people are willing to do things that the no so successful people are not willing to do . Which is work hard and attached yourself to successful people 4 Likes |

jesusson2020:Its practically unfair to mention words like this here. This is a faceless forum nonetheless you shouldn't use it as an avenue to insult people my bro. I have read all your writeups in trail and I make bold to say that your energy as a young uber driver is influencing so many bad decisions hence your steady outburst on a lot of people on this thread. Posting your earnings on Uber is purely your decision and by extension serves as a motivation to the newbies and particularly those that are weary in the business but all in all I think kind of done in bad faith. You should learn to respect people's opinion I think it will go a long in helping to shapen your approach to certain issues as a man. You don't drag people's private life into matters that are of no concern to their private life. 23 Likes 5 Shares |

@dru23 Thank you so much for your post. This is the kind of experience/advice that's needed here. You have been very helpful, so very kind of you. Like I had said sometime ago, please don't stop, you're really helping people. God bless you for that. By the way, I'm not trying to disrespect or insult that guy by asking him not to post his earnings (I don't bring myself low to that level, Never!). What I just inquire of him is that he share how he makes the earnings (positioning, fuel usage, car type etc...). Those things are really helpful for incoming drivers and even old drivers that haven't been doing well. At least you are sharing from your own angle as owner, he should too as a driver not as someone trying to downplay those who are having a bad time. @jesusson. Remember, life is a turntable. You have been in a not-so-comfortable condition before but you feel like it's heaven now. Don't make others that are complaining look bad, that in itself is bad. You should have words of encouragement as someone who has suffered, not derogatory words. You should choose the type of words that would encourage both new and old drivers (if you actually mean well). And like I'll continue to say, no disrespect bro! 6 Likes 1 Share |

Hello Oga’s, I just want to ask few questions about being a driver on uber/taxify/bolt. I will be a newbie on the uber platform likewise on bolt/taxify because I’m about to begin the job So I have zero experience. My questions are 1. Is it a must I register on both platforms (uber/bolt/taxify) if yes, please why and if No, would like to know why 2. I’m a young driver, with small stature, no 6packs, would you advice me to take the job? Though I know you have to be calm to the riders cus some would insult you etc. 3. I’m using an iPhone, would uber/taxify/bolt app work best on this phone or should I just an android phone? 4. Read something’s on this thread about not to lock your phone while on bolt because of the price etc. Incase if such occur, what’s the best way to approach your rider (even if the rider is mad) 5. Could you please share more tips Thank you |

Gentlelife50: You people have called me all sorts of names, since I came in here, the only wrong I did was to tell people Uber still pay and better than some jobs. I never insult any of you, but you guys choose to. The person that take the lead in the attack is you, by calling me cheats, Uber spy and so on. Just tell urself the truth, how has my posting affected you? I'm not the person that frustrate your life, why taking it out on me? 2 Likes 1 Share |

Everybody wants a better regardless of the level they are. Uber/Taxify is good but it can be much better! Nobody is out to discourage anybody outrightly except relatively. There are mostly good and very few bad days in this hustle. I wish us all a wonderful day and splendid days ahead! |

Hardeyghold: 1. I've been using only Uber and it's been quite good alone. Adding Bolt would be better though. Using the two is just to have constant request and money flow. So if you don't have a request on one, you could get on the other. 2. Well, don't mind your stature. Mind your "mind" . You wouldn't believe how embarrassed I felt when a vulcanizer told me he thought I was just a boy been sent to fix tyre (I chose to patronise him because he's close to my house), imagine 3. IPhone is good. Even though some people still complain of having issues with iPhone 6,I've actually met someone who uses iPhone 5 without problems. So use what you have....until there's a problem or complaint from Uber /Bolt. 4. Well, you can use the tactics that have been given by people with experience. But moreover, get another phone or WiFi device to share Internet connection with, I've heard that it saves you from Bolt's malfunction. 5. Island is the best place to get rides and money. Keep your car in good shape and good physical look-you might get good and mouth watering deals on offline, be nice to your riders - you don't know who might connect you to better levels. Any other thing, post here as they come and the good people here will help. Cheers mate, welcome to e-hailing! 7 Likes 2 Shares |

Cooladex: Real fact except mean riders... Like the lady I carried last week from omole phase one to magodo isheri, she was rude on the phone but after taking 2hrs nap (don't blame, Some Gee gave me 3k Ty after 1700 trip plus 300 change, so napping is allowed), who cares about rider rudeness or destination, I just need a trip... Got to a number before her own, already placing a call to make her know I'm close to reduce waiting time, she raise her voice "Oga call me once you get to my gate", humble me, OK ma! As ride proceeds, she demand to get to few places before final destination, dough it hovers around same axis, as fate we have it, I end trip and it was 3300. Madam voice "I can not pay such, what is it call again, app error abi, 3300 ke", I just crack internal smile, are you a driver? Or when did rider start complaining of app error Rider; u r not talking Me; ma, what do u want me to say, as u can see a trip of 5 mins, we end up spending almost 2hrs, I did not off d engine or a/c (show her fuel gauge) Madam shake her head and did transfer... I pity her next driver, if d app fail, d driver should just forget it, negotiate can not work for her. 1 Like

GforGee: Thank you, I really appreciate your response. I have a mifi device, so probably that would be better and I could get mtn 4G sim so there won’t be issue with network. The issue here is, I haven’t been to island (driving to island) most times I make use of uber or taxify or public transport.....and to use this google navigator system dey fear me o. Bridges for that island dey always confuse me o....and ah no wan lost or make rider start to dey say shit 1 Like |
