radautoworks: To be sincere, Ehailing is like every other means of making money legitimately. I don't see why a recent graduate should wait until the labour market has worn out his shoes before venturing into it. This mistake of "I am a fresh graduate" is the reason some graduates remain private school teachers five years after graduation. A goat that will be a male starts from the mother's womb says an Igbo adage. I made a comment on a post some time ago to a guy who claimed that his brother is putting pressure on him to get a job simply because he lives with them. I told the guy that if he spent one year before service, one year during service making it two years and still went back to live with his brother, then his brother should be worried because he might as well remain unemployed for the next five years. Thinking Ehailing as a fresh graduate is a step in the right direction. It means you are thinking of the worst case scenario, what you will do. That does not mean that when a good opportunity presents, you will reject it in favor of Ehailing. Nigeria is not getting better and there's no good job anywhere except you have the strong connection. So, accepting the reality and refusing to live in delusion is the only way to be ahead of your mates. Modified Here’s the link to the thread https://www.nairaland.com/6676055/how-handle-maltreating-brother#104271142 I'm sure this guy will definitely quit Ehailing because riders are jealous or insulting his fine looks. 7 Likes |

pleasureosondu: I usually don't bother with stuff like this but here you go (note, this is not a personal opinion but actual corporate mantra in fortune 500 companies): There are three things most important to an employer- skills, experience and morals. There is an unspoken fourth which I will touch on at the end. A new college graduate likely has two of those- cutting edge skills and hopefully morals. 1) MORALS a new college graduate has not yet learnt bad habits and can be molded to what you want. One who has been out of the workforce for a while is out of the workforce for a reason and has likely learnt things a certain way. you know what they say about an old dog and new tricks 2) SKILLS a recent graduate was taught the new way of doing things. At the rate technology today is evolving, a person out of the workforce for a while is essentially obsolete as they have not been on the cutting edge. Case in point, my fortran knowledge was useless in almost all circles by the time I wanted to rejoin the workforce. Recently, one of my best hires quit. Not because she did not enjoy working for me, but because she realized she was forgetting all her programming knowledge and she was damn good. So she took on a personal project paying her half of what I paid her, but allowing her to continue her primary skill set so she didn't become obsolete. I made her the promise (which she accepted) that once we were ready to employ her skill set- which we would - she was welcome back. 3) EXPERIENCE now this one used to be the coco. However in recent times students work on all sorts of projects and gather all sorts of experience in their fields with side hustles before they ever graduate. So, experience has not been quite as big a deal as it used to be in the past. I will take a hungry recent graduate with the skill set over a "more experienced worker" who is not quite as hungry or eager to prove himself. For example, every single front desk worker I have was employed young, green and hungry to build something together- and I couldn't be happier. I have only one worker who was out of the field for a while (due to motherhood) that I hired for her maturity and I haven't regretted it but I will not make it a habit. She struggles to keep up with the younger ones sometimes but makes up for it with her thoroughness, stability, attention to detail and customer service. The unspoken one.. COST. FRESH COLLEGE GRADUATES ARE CHEAPER TO KEEP. Many companies after cultivating some young hires will slash their older workforce to save cost. I won't engage in this practice but it is normal practice. There are some other caveats but I think this is enough. EDIT: that being said, as a fresh graduate, you have the largest platform and positioning you will EVER have to leap to something great if you play your cards right. Giving that up with plans for Uber is a TERRIBLE idea. As an angel investor, who do you give your money- the young, hungry upstart with fresh ideas or the guy who's been around and couldn't make multiple ideas work? All it takes is two years out of college to be the second guy. Swing for the fences straight out of college and then if that doesn't work, fall back on plan B. While it is said no one ever became wealthy working for someone else, they definitely had a better chance of that working for someone than driving Uber! NB: I'm not talking down Uber drivers, I'm just saying it was never any of you guys dream to do this for a living as a kid was it? 23 Likes 3 Shares |

Well written but this is for someone who has interest in taking up a paid job. Some of us are not cut out for it and don't care whether we have experience, skilled, fresh or not. In conclusion, these companies want to exploit your youthfulness to their advantage. The end product is money whether from paid job or street hustle unless someone interested in building a career in a particular field. 13 Likes |

CheerfulGiver: I am going to make this plain and simple... The young man should have thoroughly read through the post.. And all he had to do was pick 1 or 2 people that have achieve some of level of success in that particular area is seeking advice from....... He should have mail you or Pearl 1910 for better counsel.....A person that is not successful in a particular area is not in a right frame of mind to give better counsel....... And at the same time it is good to learn from other people's failure....... And to the young graduate seeking advice about this hustle.. Get in touch with pearl 1910 and cheerfulgiver. Call them and ask for advice .. And from there you can make better choices...... Pearl1910 started from somewhere.. He does not have two heads ... And cheerfulgiver does not have two heads either learn from them ........ 8 Likes

- Nobody deserves to drive Uber - There are better things you can do with your life - Create a job, and be a CEO -As a young graduate, you should be applying to well paying job - Stop being an ant. Let me give you street update. * Nobody deserves to stay hungry *The Nigerian factor, and experience affects everything. Have you ever met a KPMG graduate trainee, or a Banks graduate trainee? Or your juicy oyel company recruit? No, they dont work 9am to 5pm. You work 4am to 12am, sometimes, you dont have time for brunch. You see people getting paid 40k per month, working harder than the above listed group. Have you met all this delivery bike riders, they do such risky job for peanuts, and work into the nights! This position has been over flogged. Drive with a goal. And a mindset. I am driving for 2 years, and intend to raise 7 million, to fund xo xo and xo hustle. Markus Villig has only one head, started bolt when he was 19, and he is just 28 ,sadly life don score you first goal by being a Nigerian and living in Nigeria. The truth is, you are you! not Villig, you have an idea that keeps you awake, pursue it. Being an ant or working at KPMG will only keep you being an ant. You will never fufill you that way. There is dignity in Labor, you should never be ashamed of what you do. There is nothing wrong in being a bolt driver! It is rewarding, it puts food on the table! You are a tough guy, That's who a tough guy is, you wake up to drive, show up, and provide for your family. And not everybody is going to be a Zuckerberg. In all, let's remember this, dissenting views and variety makes the world go round. Respect other peoples opinion. There is no need for the cussing and bad blood, it is too much negative energy. Tomorrow is pregnant/uncertain and no man knows what it'd bring. This life no hard. Be peaceful! 20 Likes |

radautoworks:What you've said is true ma'am , no doubt about it especially the first 2 points. And for employers like yourself, its at your advantage cos these freshers( so to say) are equipped with the most advanced knowledge in their field of study, thereby giving them a higher chance of getting employed. Ma'am, this point is undisputable. However, the big question is: how many job opportunities are available to these recent graduates in Nigeria? The career labor market in Nigeria isn't designed in a way that it adopts a large number of recent graduates. For example, you employed just one recent graduate for a front desk position. Do you know that there are still thousands who are unemployed but recent graduates? What should those under this category(unemployed) engage in? Please remember that these recent graduates have needs on a daily basis which they need to cater for e.g feeding and transportation in the course of looking for employment. How do you expect them to cope? In civilized countries where the government is interested in the welfare of it's citizenry, your points holds ground and I won't even dispute it. But be honest to yourself, how many of these recent graduates are working with their degrees? How many employment opportunities are open to these fresh grads in Nigeria? It is due to this lack of employment opportunities that has led to the increase in fraudulent activities like yahoo yahoo for guys and prostitution amongst ladies. This is because they know that without the money or political connections, there's nothing for them. The employment system, espercially within government agencies in Nigeria isn't based on merit thus, fresh grads are opting for alternatives and we can't blame them. OK, what is the assurance that the guy with the 2m would be employed as a fresh graduate in Nigeria? He knew it would be difficult, hence his decision to look for an alternative. He doesn't want to be an (old) grad before making a decision. Again, I do not dispute any of your points but in Nigeria, except you have a strong political connection and/ or some dip pockets to buy job slots, then you get a job irrespective of whether you are a recent and/or advanced graduate. Modified Damn, I never knew you were a Lady. My bad, sincere apologies ma'am. 4 Likes 2 Shares |

dru23:I don't want average. Average is for Felicity and his ilk. "Driving is hard, riders will insult you, you will work long hours, you'll have accidents, you'll have bad eyesight, you will have pile, your legs will shake, you will get robbed, your yansh will shake, you will lose erection, your penis will shrink"... All very stupid excuses to be lazy and justify mediocrity. If you do uber part time, do it part time and say you do it part time while you make money from some other hustle. Don't drive part time and come here to castigate people who drive full time. Everyone dies. Richer people hardly live that long if we're to be honest. 9 Likes |

dru23:I don't think I have up to a full year to drive and achieve my goal. If after a year my goal isn't met, I'll pick up my car and drive the shit_ out of it. Who cares? All I want is to achieve my aim. I'm happy to post here until I decide not to anymore, there are a lot of people here who have it in them to be successful and since they aren't dummies, they have the ability to sift out the information they need from this cesspit of pessimistic complaining and doom about driving. Uber driving is a means to an end. Since what is worth doing is worth doing well, I'll be the best at whatever I do. Bolt driving is preparing me for what lies ahead. No time for stupid fraudulent people who wash down the very job feeding them, but who refuse to leave the said job to go get the Nigerian job that pays them 10million monthly. 5 Likes |

mrjaydee:Nothing good comes easy. Life is a stage. When majority of drivers have gotten to the stage of owning their car, many riders will sit up. Drivers accept shit_ because many times they don't have a choice. Many drivers don't even have fuel, and would need that trip to get money for fuel.
