So far , so good........ I want to say a very big thank you to the whole house for all the information I was able to gather. Will be going back to Naija dis week. I was able to get all necessary document for my baby: BC,SSN,passport,ETC(to b delivered tmrw) all within 2 weeks. Thanks to Nef and yokus for their tips on d ETC. I really appreciate everybody in the house. For zero balance, I was given a letter signed by the financial councillor stating that my wife (name stated)came to have our baby(name also stated) in their hospital and that she paid all her bill and that of our son and that she has zero balance with them and not indebted to them as all bills have been paid. Please is this enough? bcus I av once read it here that the zero balance thing shld be like a statement of account showing bill and what was paid . Kindly help with dis, so DAT I will kW if I still need to take a trip to the hospital before I leave. 2 Likes |

It's very ok! Just hold your receipt handy, some hospitals don't even give... Can I pm you please? It's kinda urgent. Thank you. bmanbaba: |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by nefertitiram: 3:08pm On Mar 06, 2016 |
bmanbaba: I think the receipts are more necessary than Zero balance. Cos if you took medicaid, you will still get a zero balance cos ur bills av actually been paid. So the receipts (and a contract or invoice) is a much stronger proof of payment. 2 Likes |

Hello House. I have a question. Hope it wont fail bros JW rules. So my question is... whats the advantage or disadvantage of ETC versus Visa. Cos i noticed most moms here go ETC. Is t just d convinience of not having to drop the babys passport? Or that t cmes faster? Plus it just occured to me to mention here that moms gettn ETC shld mak copies o. Iv heard of moms who had issues here in naija when trying to get ther babies passport bcz dy needed a copy of the etc but dint have t as immigation collected the original at the airport. Subsequent attempts to get a copy frm them proved abortive as they kept givn one story of d other. |

ajujuju:Advantages of ETC, -its cheaper than visa. - it doesn't take time, if you request for it today after submitting all your docs tru email, it can get to you the next day. - you don't have to mail your baby's passport and be scared of the unknown. - you just sit in the comfort of your home, mail the documents to her and relax for the courier guy/lady to knock on your door and deliver your ETC. Hassle free I must say. Disadvantages : -You must use it within one week - you can't re use it after the first time. -you have to make a copy and safe guide it or have issues like the moms you talked about. -you may have to go to a bank to deposite money into the agents account if you don't have foreign account wt Internet banking. Others should add and correct me if am wrong in anything I mentioned. Meanwhile, I didn't use ETC, I obtained visa for my LO's 7 Likes |

House please help me here. Bro in law is asking me to scan and send the children's birth certificates and Social Security numbers for yearly tax refund. I'm not interested and have nicely turned it down. The man is very upset . I need to show my husband the many disadvantages as possible so he can show his brother who is now making a fuss about the whole thing now. Please list them out for me. I told him , the SSN could go into the wrong hands who may take loans and leave debts for my innocent children in the future to pay. Give me others biko. Thanks in advance. 3 Likes |

Nogen: Hey dear, It is actually fraudulent oh and if discovered can land you in a lot of trouble. For him to get tax refunds on your kids he'll have to claim them as his dependents on his tax returns. Social security number is sensitive because unlike here, it tells you a lot of details about the individual who owns it. Your kids aren't living with him are they? Please say all you can, just don't get involved in this. Keep a clean slate biko. 4 Likes |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by anonymousmum: 10:37pm On Mar 06, 2016 |
He will be upset I am sure. Na so. In short he wants to file his tax returns as though he is supporting your kids financially, and as such, he will pay lower taxes. Also, some people sell SSN information for all sorts of purposes. There is a reason why SSN numbers are confidential. Even the SSN card says that you should not carry it around on your person. Think of it like a credit card. Please google tax fraud using false dependants, download and print all the information you find online about tax fraud. Paint the picture of toying with your precious kids future (which is true anyway) and mortgaging their future - please ensure you paint as gory a picture as possible. Handle it as diplomatically as possible but DO NOT BUDGE please!! 3 Likes |

The man is very upset . I need to show my husband the many disadvantages as possible so he can show his brother who is now making a fuss about the whole thing now. [/quote] Without meaning any insults, i thnk u dont owe him any explanations. If he is doing it for you as he may claim den he shldnt get upset if u say NO. D choice is urs n dnt let him blackmail or brainwash ur hubby. Like dy'v said, for him to get returns he needs to file like hes dr guardian...whch he isnt? Or is he? SSN na serious detail o. Y go thru all d stress we have gone thru for these children to hav a gud future and end up dumping on dem possible stress in future? Risks Identity theft (kids) Bad debt (kids) Jail time if caught defrauding d system (B-i-l) US ban..if found to hav willfully participated (Parents) Saying NO is gonna b hard. Bcz family alwys takes us for granted....But please think abt d kids. 6 Likes |
