Why did you open a bank account in the US?
You definitely know this is illegal as you're not a resident of the country neither do you have business dealings there.. Best of luck to you when you go for your visa renewal and also at the port of entry next time you visit..you lots never learn

I'm not sure about it being illegal.
I opened an account years ago while I was on a visiting visa. And I renewed my visa multiple times after that (at least two of those renewals were prior to the introduction of the Dropbox service).
At no time was I asked about it.
Infact, it helped on one occasion when the CBP officer at PoE asked if I was carrying any cash. I said no, I have plastic. He asked to see, and I brought out my bank card and I was waved through

Since he's your fiance let him come to Nigeria to dove to U.S but let me tell you this that you've misrepresented before will come back to haunt you.

The poster should just jejely avoid a visit visa. Let the fiancé, come to Nigeria, they get married and he files an IV petition along with a waiver to cover the misrepresentation

Given your intentions. The Mexican visa will be much easier to get than the US visa. Meet her in Mexico get married, get a stay in Mexico, while she file for you to join her in the US. Give or take 5-6 years you will land in the US pronto!! Lol.

Once they're married and she files for him, the entire process can be completed within a year. As long as they pay all the fees on time and there are no issues with their paperwork. He doesn't even need to stay in Mexico, can come back to Naija and do everything from here.

My only concern is that this has all the trappings of an 'arrangee' marriage. A desperate one at that

good day forum members, pls i'm a little confused on some things and i'd appreciate it if you guys can help with answers.I got my visa in September to attend my uncle's wedding but due to some personal circumstances,i couldn't make the wedding.now,i have decided to travel after my exams in December for Xmas. but here's why am confused;

1.would i have any issues at POE just because i didn't travel for the wedding when i was supposed to since that was my main reason for applying for the visa?

2.the wedding was meant to be in texas but i have decided to use newyork as my POE. Texas is still going to be my final destination but i want the travelling experience and flights to newyork are relatively cheaper than flying to houston, texas.

3.Is it advisable to travel by road from newyork to houston for a first timer?if so,how do i arrange and pay for bus/train tickets.if not, would i have to book a connecting flight from newyork to houston before travelling?
pls guys i would love if you can really help me with this.this is going to be my first time travelling and i dont wanna make any mistakes especially at the POE.thanks

My take: you will just have to explain yourself well to the CBP at POE giving a valid reason why you couldn't show up for the wedding.

As per going to Texas by road from NY, the trip alone will take like 2 days. Na long journey and if u decide to go by air it will set you back upwards of $500 dollars for a round trip. So weight ur options well.

That cannot be true that you did not see an answer.
The answer is that it is irrelevant if the conference is a paid one or not. What wull g'tee your visa is your home ties.
Transcripts have been shared of successful interviews. Some paid, some didn't. It dosent make any difference

Please who told you that was the reason for refusal? If it was your brother in law, it is a lie.
The embassy does not ask for invites. Read like 20 pages consecutively on this thread. It is like a broken record cos it has been said a gazillion times

@ Lady G, please we want to pay for US Visa at GTB but my husbands passport has seven months left on it before renewal. can he go ahead and pay? we plan to travel by december. Immigrations said he can only renew when he has six months left on the passport. what do you suggest ma?

Thank you for a great job here. we followed from part one page 1 till now.
Visas are stamped on passports with at least 6 months validity. Do the math.
In my opinion , waiting for a month will not make any difference.Between the time you l pay to the interview date, will 1 month not have elapsed? That means carrying two passports up andan to travel. But its your choice.

That can't be true. VOs care less about invitation letters. The subject of the matter is your brothe-in-lawr's ties to Nigeria. Does he have a fairly okay job? Family? Travel experience... These are part of the major things a Vo would look at. smiley
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by 9jaStar: 7:35pm On Nov 04, 2016
LadyGuinivere:

1. The embassy recognises that families Often have different surnames. They do not require you to change your name. You may go with supporting documents cos I dunno if they look at those in SA. In Nigeria, they don't. To date, my passport is still in my maiden name and LordG and I aPplied at different times and got our visas.
However, in circumstances like yours, its more common to see the kids bearing the father's surname and not the mother's on their birth and travel documents. But if your story is legit, then you can be able to prove it.
2. I do not quite understand the question. Do you all intend to travel? Then yes, apply as a family if your ties are solid (work, salary, travel history etc). If you feel it isn't quite fantastic, then maybe you guys should have one parent stay back as a tie
I see you pm'd me. Sorry ma. I don't do pms for visa issues. I'm here to answer any question I can

@SexySan The first question I will like to ask you is that did you applied for B1 or Medical visa? if it was B1 then go ahead with your training and maybe get in touch with a doctor and get the necessary info you will need concerning birthing in U.S. Return to Nigeria and write the embassy about your intention to birth and ask for what to do.
You will have to leave your husband out of this for now maybe he can apply when you renew your passport to his name and he should come clean about his previous ''ish'' also you can travel with your mom if your serious about birthing in the U.S
God bless.

I agree with this @SexySan. Up to a point.
Once you've informed the embassy about your birthing, your husband should reapply, stating his previous misrepresentation and also explaining that he wants to be with you while you folks are having your first baby.

Considering how fast interview dates disappear, my advice would be to apply with the old passport, then renew before the interview. When you get there, submit both and explain to the VO.
If you get approved for the visa, it would most likely be stamped on the new one. If it's not, you can simply travel with both. No biggie.
I used to travel with all four of my passport booklets until I got number 5. Now, I simply travel with the last two, which still had some valid visas

hi vo, i'm planning to apply for a us visa,i have someone who can get me to canada to immigrate but only threw the US boarder,i have no intentions of staying in the US i only want to go so i can leave to canada, should i tell the vo that during the interview if he asked for the purpose of the visit?? i don't want to lie but i also don't want to get rejected, thankx.

you're kidding right??
it's been almost 3 yrs I've followed this thread and though I've seen/read some "stupid" questions I gotta admit this is just the height of them all. you totally deserve a medal of some kind.
pls tell the v.o you need an immigration transit visa ( whatever that is) you'd be approved.
On a serious note, do that and a lifetime ban would be the least of your problems. na for Guantanamo bay you go land grin

No need to stress yourself.. you don't have to pay for the hotel but the conference is tricky because paying for the conference means a strong intention on your part.. Maybe you should pay for the conference and check the refund policy of the conference.

We booked today and got a November 16 date for the interview.
