folarinstr: The position of USA visa authority is that EVERYTHING on your vis application is YOUR responsibility. There is no "Agent did it and I didn't know" get out. They have heard the story too many times. Have you been actually issued a ban? |

The truth is that when people hear wht they don't wanna hear, the brain automatically blanks it. Kindly read back my posts to you. Yes. Have you seen the post I made this morning to you telling you honesty was your only viable option? Or the one omobendel replied you? I didn't even need to read back to remember it.... There's a column for why you were denied. Use it. Tell them you and your agent misrepresented the ist time and you have come to understand the full implications and that your details as now is the correct and verifiable detail. Some nice fellow posted recently how he made use of that column per an advice I gave earlier. Your application speaks for itself. It sets the tone before the ist question. Stand out with your honesty. All the cut and join stories you dey plan sound like that....cut and join. But if you have 150k to waste, by all means continue with the fabu of the past. |

@Esosa4real, I'm yet to collect mine o. We did interview same day. You were ahead of me on the queue. I listened to your interview. What could be the cause of the delay? Any idea? @LadyG, Please any idea on what could cause delay in release of passport 6 days after interview? And there's no communication from the embassy... |

Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by dpresh(m): 8:51pm On Jan 23, 2017 |
@Esosa4real @OmoBendel24, Yes, I was given the white paper, and I've been to DHL office. I was there on Friday and today and they said it's still at the Embassy. I checked online (via automated email response), and it says 'your passport is still with the Post'. Post here means the Embassy? Or DHL? There's no mention of Administrative Processing anywhere. Shalom. |

@OmoBendel24, Immense thanks for the link. I just checked and it said my application is undergoing necessary Administrative Processing, and it will take several weeks. What does that mean? And any idea of duration of the 'several weeks'? The event I am going for starts in 3 weeks time. Any possibility of the Administrative Processing being completed on or before then? Since I don't stay in Abuja, I'll have to leave Abuja then, and wait for them to contact me. |

AyaSho:The R1 visa, is a visa category strictly for religious personel I.e Clergy related. If your sister has proof that she is a bonafide clergy person and she is being invited by a recognised religious organisation or denomination to perform something very relevant then by all means she qualifies for an R1. Because the R1 is a category reserved for clergy people, it's a rather unique type of Visa I.e it could easily be flipped into permanent residency even though it is still considered as an NIV, that's what someone like Bishop Oyedepo or Baba Adeboye would have, also most priests use that. Your sister has to be a real special minister to qualify for an R1 because it is not meant for roadside or self appointed pastors/roadside evangelists. A track record of ministerial achievements would do well in supporting her claim, if she has gone to Theological schools or bible schools, she needs to show proof as it would aid her claim and if she is being invited by an organisation which is non profit based, she needs to show affiliations that backup her claim. In some cases an I-129 form is required if she intends to stay for a long duration, the inviting body does that petition on her behalf. Has the I-129 been filed? The R1 truly is a very unique category I must say, so there are a lot of conditions that have to be met for certain situations... some I am unaware of. Why didn't she findout more about it when she was in the US? Anyway I hope that bit helps. |

Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by dpresh(m): 11:35pm On Jan 23, 2017 |
Wanted to share the transcript after collection, so everything (interview--collection) will be in one post. But now that this is the case, below is my transcript. The interview was at Abuja office, 7:30am appointment. Got there 7am and we were called in at 7:30. Passed through all the accreditation, and security checks and queued up for the interview. Vo: Good Morning Me: Good morning Vo: What do you do? Me: I am an IT Admin Vo: So why are you going to California? Me: I am going for annual XXXX IT Conference. Vo: Okay, what do you intend to learn at the Conference? Me: Since IT is dynamic and grows almost on daily basis, the conference offers a great opportunity to keep abreast of the latest technologies and solutions, to aid in improved efficiency and effectiveness in my job role. Vo: Name one software solution you use in securing your network Me: I named 2 Vo: Have you traveled outside Nigeria before? Me: Yes, I have been to South Korea, Germany & South Africa Vo: Typed on his Computer System... Vo: Do you have your old Passport here? Me: Yes Vo: Can I see it? Me: I gave him the old Passport Vo: flipped through and returned it to me and typed on his System again. Vo: Tell me about your trip to Germany Me: We went for training/seminar on XXXX technology Vo: Continued typing... Do you have children? Me: yes. Vo: How many? Me: 2 Vo: He looked at my finger to see my wedding ring.... How many children do you have again? Me: 2 Vo: Sir, I am approving your visa application. And he handed me over the white paper saying it contains instruction on how to collect my passport. Me: Thank You No document was checked. My Advice: 1. Know what you filled in your D-160 form. 2. Answer only what you are asked, with confidence. 2. Only present documents if asked. Some people tried to push documents through to the VO and he told them not to bother. Most of those guys were denied. It kinda shows desperation. 3.Travel History is important. Mine helped me. 4. Prayer is very important. Shalom. 13 Likes 1 Share |

folarinstr:I have a question for you, were you banned?? If not, just fill the form appropriately and truthfully, no need to explain anything on the form. If you are asked during the interview you can admit your mistake. However if you were banned, just use your visa application fee and settle down at a Joint with hot bush meat and cool palm wine... after that, go home and sleep-trust me Nigeria would feel like New York City . 2 Likes |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by optimusprime2(m): 9:12am On Jan 24, 2017 |
progress69:Yes, I have explored that possibility once. But it would be best to do that if your clearance to stay in the US from the POE is longer than 3weeks. Some Canadian embassies would typically take 14 days to issue a TRV, depends on how busy they are, while some may take hrs- a friend of mine was given his at Detroit the same day he applied. So it's very possible. |
