[quote author=lucas101 post=53113483]Thanks to the house for the Immense help I got to secure my visa to attend a Summit in the US. My question is this....my summit in in California from the 5-10 of March. I intend to go through Newyork to sight see few places and also make bookings from 20th Feb-20March. After the summit I'd return to NYC to return home. Please can I do this.. |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by KaptainAfrika: 12:49pm On Jan 25, 2017 |
1. You want to relocate to the USA, but you want to attend the wedding of your cousin...the CBP will ask you for your cousin's invitation card and confirm this info. 2. You just lost your job, recently...no ties to bring you back to Nigeria 3. You were refused on January 14 but you are reapplying on January 25...11 days later?...VO will probably think you are desperate 4. Just be honest. You might be lucky. leo997: 1 Like |

Too risky, don't try it. Why not go, after the summit? At least you will be in the clear with the CBP... lucas101: 1 Like |

[quote author=optimusprime2 post=53071431] Thank you so much They have actually filled in a petition for her which had been approved. She Is not a clergy at all but it's been arranged for her. She is going to be working in a church My question now is will she be able to change over after a while, and what are the prones and scorns of it. I appreciate |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by worry357: 7:06pm On Jan 25, 2017 |
AyaSho: Two things here are red flag. Working in church? what do you mean? R1 is not for working. "Change over after a while" So her intention is to try to stay over after using religious visa to gain entry? That is not at all in the spirit of an R1 visa! Using religion to try for a back door entry is immoral! |

Hello Everyone, Please I need your advice. My mom is going for her interview in a weeks's time. but we just noticed an error in her form. My Dad's "DAY" of birth was wrongly put for e.g instead of 5th of jan.. my sister filled 6th. My question is-- can she mention it to the VO on the day of her interview to be corrected (or should she just not mention it)? does she need to fill another form or how can we go about correcting it before her interview? Will this affect my Dad when he decides to apply later in the year? Please note it is just the 'DAY' of birth that is wrong, every other thing is correct. your kind advice will be appreciated. DRASTIC IMMIGRATION ENFORCEMENT IS NOW HERE. Section 5 of President TRUMP'S EXECUTIVE ACTION on Immigration titled "Enhancing Public Safety within the Borders of the United States" announced today is deceptively broad, and applies to all immigration law violators, not only felons. WHAT DOES THIS EXECUTIVE ACTION STATES? It states as follows: Sec. 5. Enforcement Priorities. In executing faithfully the immigration laws of the United States, the Secretary of Homeland Security (Secretary) shall prioritize for removal those aliens described by the Congress in sections 212(a)(2), (a)(3), and (a)(6)(C), 235, and 237(a)(2) and (4) of the INA (8 U.S.C. 1182(a)(2), (a)(3), and (a)(6)(C), 1225, and 1227(a)(2) and (4)), as well as removable aliens who: (a) Have been convicted of any criminal offense; (b) Have been charged with any criminal offense, where such charge has not been resolved; (c) Have committed acts that constitute a chargeable criminal offense; (d) Have engaged in fraud or willful misrepresentation in connection with any official matter or application before a governmental agency; (e) Have abused any program related to receipt of public benefits; (f) Are subject to a final order of removal, but who have not complied with their legal obligation to depart the United States; or (g) In the judgment of an immigration officer, otherwise pose a risk to public safety or national security. SECTION 5 does not start and stop with individuals convicted of serious offenses. It is all encompassing. TO WHOM THIS EXECUTIVE ACTION APPLIES? This provision applies to anyone in the U.S. illegally. If you have overstayed, this provision applies to you. If you are charged but not convicted this provision applies to you. If your offense is a misdemeanor, this provision applies to you. If you came to the U.S. with false or fraudulent documents, this provision applies to you. If you admit to committing an offense for which you were never charged or convicted, this provision applies to you. WHAT ARE THE CONSEQUENCES TO YOU? This means if you are found, you will be detained. You have a right to proceedings before an Immigration Judge, and depending on your immigration infraction you may be eligible for bond. Catch and Release, under Trump, will be no more. There may well be new interpretations of existing immigration laws, which may make it harder to get relief from removal. WHAT CAN YOU DO NOW? For those who overstay, including those with certain criminal convictions and immigration violations, you may still be able to legalize your status, obtain waivers, and barring significant changes in interpretation of existing immigration laws, relief from removal is available. Now is the time to understand how this new policy will impact your stay in the U.S., and to seek whatever relief available under current law, including adjustment of status. |

Classified60: I doubt that any of this has a lot to do with Nigerians here... i think the big thing is the doing away of the dropbox option. From now on, everyone must appear for an in-person interview. |

So I heard a new one Today (actually it was yesterday). A friend of mine, the CTO of a IT Based firm here in Nigeria was supposed to go for some meeting in San Francisco and unsurprisingly, his visa application was rejected. I kid you not that the guy is still traveling as planned, since his company has now signed an MOU with the US (I don't know if it's the Consulate or the Embassy). He was ridiculously the only one that attended the meeting that will see him and anyone from his firm given safe passage to the US without a formal visa Interview. I don't know if anyone in the house knows about this practice or has experienced something similar. Cc LadyGuinivere, Seyewest |

There's a visa that's given for a period of 3 months only. And its usually for government officials. Do you know the classification of the visa you referred to in your post? DMeanMan: |

Hello all. I was denied a US visa in South Africa After I left the interviewer, I realized my mistake. During the interview, he asked what address was on my Bank Statement. And here, we move a lot. So I didn't remember and told him my last address. He asked for my IV for the conference I need to attend, I showed him and behold though the IV bears my name, my address was different from what is on the bank statement. In fact, I do not think I filled that form correctly. I work and earn an average salary. I have now gotten a new IV letter stating my new address. Question: - Can I change some details on the DS 160 form when reapplying? - Is the DS 160 form the same everywhere? ( I ask this cos some questions I see here, I didn't see when filling my form. E.g: Have you travelled in the last 5 years? - what is the correct website to get the correct DS 160 form? - Will the new interviewer always refer to other denied application in making his decision? - How soon can I reapply? ( I was denied last week and conference is in March) My company is counting on me to attend this conference and I feel like I failed them in being denied Visa. Help me please. Thank you!! |

Xolz: Study please. You answers are on the thread.... 1. Yes, provided it is devoid of unnecessary drama and twists 2. That is because you are female, the form is gender different. 3. Go back to the place you got the previous one from, it's correct. 4. Somehow. 5. Almost immediately, if you "know" and are confident something has changed in your advantage. Regards N.B/ Hope you understand the address on your bank statement and now on your IV too needs justification as your current address, compared to the address you filled in your last application? |
