I will like to advice our nigerian upcomin artistes. IF YOU EVER WANT TO MAKE IT IN 9JA MUSIC IN-DUL-STRY, DO SUMTIN DIFERENT, DONT COME WITH SWAGA SWAGA SWAGA SWAGA, BEKOS I SEE SAY NOBODY DEY FIT COMPOSE SONG THESE DAYS WITHOUT SWAGGAR NO APEAR REACH 100 TIMES. DO SUMTIN VERY DIFFERENT FROM WHAT WE ALREADY HAVE, TRY AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE TO BE CREATIVE, CREATE YOUR OWN STYLE, WE HAVE RAPPERS B4 THE LIKES OF M.I, JOE SPASM, OD, NAETO C CAME INTO THE IN-DUL-STRY. SO DONT END UP TRYIN TO BE TUPAC OR LOON. B4 U COME OUT WITH YOUR ALBUM, TAKE YOUR TIME AND MAKE SURE THE ALBUM IS OKAY, LISTEN TO EACH AND EVERY SONG OVER AND OVER AGAIN, SEE URSELF AS THAT MAN, BOY OR GIRL OUT THERE THAT WILL LIKE TO LISTEN TO THE SONG, IF YOU ARE IN THEIR SHOES WILL YOU PAY ATTENTION THIS SONG, BE UNIQUE our poeple say, sumtin wey good, na im dey sell itself for market, u no need to hulk am, na pipo go kom dey ask you say "who dey sell"lol PUT AM FOR GOD HAND YOU ARE A SUCCESS 1 Like |

Nigerian Music & Wanton Lyrics A legionnaire never forgets the songs he sang when searing bullets and a homebound hope was all that existed. Songs written by music craftsmen who believed the words on a song should inspire, educate and also entertain. For us, could be the spreading lump in our educational system is contagious, enough to make the intellectual bones of the music industry slumber on pedestrian and wanton lyrics. ‘You write a hit the same way you write a flop.’ U.S. lyricist Alan Jay Lerner’s attribution emphatically strikes a note; songs that have skimmed the rims of years are cut with great lyrics. The lyrics of John Newton’s hymns and those of Fela Kuti may be ages apart, but share a unique factor – lyrics that have shaped the state-of-mind of generations. How then can it be that in Nigeria’s 21st century only few (very few) music artistes enjoy international reviews on content? A time machine malfunction will be a ridiculously good excuse to make after a sad account of lyrical junks that is noted on Nigeria’s musical worksheet. It seems most of our so-called songwriters are still clothed in animal skin, or mediocrity is paying the bills at the expense of creativity. Trashing out the concerns of Nigeria’s music lyric meltdown is not a swing-by-the-block task, but indicators such as Professional Ineptitude, Cultural Threshold and Creative Hocus-pocus will underscore the literal extinction of good lines that makes great music. I particularly like "The street cleric" Plumbline's music, very different from the copy cats I see out there. Original and intellectually stimulating compositions. check out: Last Zombie, MVP and "Who wants 2BA Steallionaire" here: http://nigerianhiphop.net/blog/2010/01/15/plumbline-drops-3-singles/ |
