Nigerians have themselves to blame. When many were asking HOW APC would do this at the time of these promises they buried their heads in the sand and refused to look at practicality.

If you ask me that money is better used on training job creation and funding of business efforts that can also provide employment.

Honestly did Nigerians really think APC would not simply backtrack once voted in?

How naive.

These opposition and activists are just as daft as daft.
Is it 5,000 stipends our unemployed youths need or creating jobs for them?
How do they even imagine this govt pay out such money which can turn around the fortunes of Nigeria even if they made the promise during elections?
So it's good to use lies to win the heart of people, in order to vote for you?

Voting an ex-coupist as a president in this modern era is already a big question mark on our mental capacity and our readiness for a civilised and sane democracy. The world must be wondering whether we even understand the fundamentals of democracy.

Politicians are liars, where can we find integrity again when saints are stained by their dirt? It is a pity that Nigerians are easily scammed by desperate politicians. All they want is power, no clear vision for the country.

APC is the greatest liar in the world! PMB n PYO scammed Nigerians that they will give youths #5,000 to help reduce poverty. they promised stable economy, stable power, make #1=1$, give free meal to every Nigerian child......
I now know the meaning of that "I belong to all and I belong to nobody"

The 5k and free school meals were campaign promises I was also curious to see how APC will go about it,though inwardly I knew it was one of those empty campaign promises.

Fact is,99 percent of those who voted APC did it because of one name........Muhammadu Buhari.

Not because APC promised some free school meals or will pay unemployed youths 5k.

You can't rule out that many voted because of the promises. Buhari contest several presidential elections in the past which he lost may I ask you if he changed his name.

why are you contemplating on PMB administration to pay 5k for Nigerian youth? this is a corruption collecting 5k without doing any work? for what? did Nigerian youth voted for him because of 5k stipend? which means corruption can never be eradicated in this country. anyway whoever voted PMB because of 5k have to hold on because there's no available fund to implement such for now simple. The funniest thing is that PDP members of all people also agitating for the implementation, are they ready to return their loot to implement the social welfare? shameless people!! they better go and bury their face.

Too bad Buhari a calm leader is leading impatient Nigerians. Just few months to the start of his administration, he has been faced with barrage of criticisms without breathing space not minding of some facts. What we fail to realise is that, for any government to pay such amount out, they must have realistic assessment of what they have on ground to know how effectively they can finance that programme. It will be gullible of any government to just pay such amount out without good plan on ground just in the name of trying to avoid public out-pour. God bless Nigeria.

Anybody calling this government out on this is an hypocrite.
Well, you'al opinion don't count. People that voted this government are still optimistic.

The APC hav said via their spokes person that the 2015 budget did not have any provision for the APC campaign promises and so they cannot implement the fulfilment of these promises just yet.
Lets all just have a little faith and pray that God helps them achieve all they have set out to achieve.

Criticising the govt positively is a good thing but criticisms should not be made an instrument of distraction..

APC Senators actually shot themselves in the legs by rejecting that motion. They should have methodically ignore it; not outright rejection.
Only if PDP can reorganize themselves & get better strategists & leadership in the senate. The outright rejection of the motion by APC senators is a good ground for PDP to prepare a counter attack whenever the scheme is presented in the budget (if it's ever presented). But with those dumb Akpabio & Ekweremadu, APC could easily scale through.

Buhari and his APC govt should just own up and apologise to Nigerians on the propaganda of 5k for poor unemployed Nigerians. ....... Not like they would be forgiven but at least they might be viewed as getting serious with governance and less propaganda.

What database do we have to identify the poor and unemployed amongst us?

What logistics mechanism will be used to get the funds to the poor and at what cost in addition to the 5k?

In this period of low earnings and economic downturn, where are they going to source 6 trillion naira for a lame social welfare?

Now APC are being forced to fulfill their propaganda. amidst APC senators disagreement and Lai Mohd agreement. Very confused government.

It means that they will continue to apologize till their tenure will come to an end!
I am yet to see any of their promises that is realistic!
Even the anti corruption he has own up to, how many people has he brought to book?
Abeg leave that man, today, he will say something, tomorrow, another!

You cannot stampede a government into directing a policy without adequate preparation for such.

Every sensible person knows the motive for quickly passing a vote on such an issue was to ridicule any constructive plan of the government of the day by the opposition.

It takes 4 years not 5 months. It certainly takes adequate preparation with a fully formed budgetary and planning committee identifying necessary revenue streams and implementing solutions.

Surely, a group of bandits who have always had a reputation for pillaging and depleting the resources of the very people they governed over cannot pretend to be concerned about their wellbeing 5 months after they've lost power.

It is quite ironic that there are many issues tabled before the Senate that haven't been passed or even deliberated upon.

That it was not in this year's budget doesn't mean it cannot be discussed on the floor of the house to see if it could be proposed for inclusion in 2016 budget.

The way it was quickly shut down makes us think it was only a mere campaign rhetoric to garner support from our gullible youth and it worked perfectly.
