Below is a look at the Twenty Two Laws of Nairaland, their meanings and how they should look like.. NB:Seun and mods should't go berserk on this please.. 1. Please post all threads in the right section, and don't derail threads by posting off topic. What this means is that you should post the right topic in the right place and reduce the loads of moderators from transferring a post to the right place.E.g placing a funny post in political section, placing a post about pet in fashion section etc this is wrong but come off it there are some topics you don't even know the right section to place them so no blame if you post it anywhere, sorry moderators! 2. Don't abuse, bully, deliberately insult/provoke, fight, or wish harm to Nairaland members OR THEIR TRIBES. This means you should not use abusive words or create a scene which can harm another person online or offline, the tribe was added when some people no Matter the topic will bring "tribalistic" issues into it.. but hey 80% of Nairalanders don't obey this, this is what keeps Nairaland going, you enter a thread, you see people bashing each other and you settle down to read, there is a team on Nairaland with the name "I am here to read comments" nothing more. 3. Don't threaten, support or DEFEND violent acts against any person, tribe, race, animals, or group (e.g. rape). this means you should do nothing when it comes to violent acts, don't threaten ,support or defend, then what do you do? Nothing!than just read and get out..but this is far from the truth,Nairalander are naturally emotional and once there is a violent topic especially rape you see everyone voicing out their stand for or against.. 4. Discussions of the art of love- making should be restricted to the hidden sexuality section. this means do not post art of love making in any other section than sexuality section be it fictional or real.. There was a time this art of love making always find it way to literature section but due to the total refusal by the head admin, writers whose story where based on sex had to move to sexuality section..This is by far the most effective rule which is followed.. 5. Don't post pornographic or disgusting pictures or videos on any section of Nairaland. this means you should keep all your porn videos to yourself we don't want to see it even in the sexuality section...but these days things are changing ,"the picture or i don't believe" crew had made it compulsory for those posting porn videos or pics to first show them a sample before going ahead to download it,i guess the mods are lagging behind here.. 6. Don't post adverts or affiliate links outside the areas where adverts are explicitly allowed. this means you should not post anything that is associated with advert directly i think you are allowed to do that through only your signature..but come i think the mods are tired of banning and banning as the more they ban the more the advertisers come back with new monikers to continue their business.. 7. Don't say, do, or THREATEN to do anything that's detrimental to the security, success, or reputation of Nairaland. this means you should not carry out actions that are against everything about Nairaland... i believe people who believe they are being ban for unjust reasons are the ones that do all these, they become angry and vow to do something against Nairaland,*laughing* nothing never happens 8. Don't post false information on Nairaland. this means you should verify whatever information you want to post on Nairaland.but this rule is mostly disobeyed by bloggers especially the "wannabies" who in a haste to make front page pass false information but i believe the mods are suppose to verify too before they push it to land of promise.. 9. Don't use Nairaland for illegal acts, e.g scams, plagiarism, hacking, gay meetings, incitement, promoting Biafra. this means you should not do illegal acts on Nairaland we don't want to see it.. but reverse is the case as Nairaland is a home to a lot of these.. 10. Don't violate the privacy of any person e.g. by posting personal details/conversations without permission. this means if you must pass information about another person, seek permission.. this rule is quite effective . 11. Don't create distracting posts with: ALL WORDS BOLD / huge font sizes / ALL CAPS / distracting images etc. this is self explanatory and hardly seen on Nairaland 12. Don't insert signatures into your posts. Instead, add the desired signature to your profile. this i simple tounderstand but will spammers ever obey it? |

13. Please report any post or topic that violates the rules of Nairaland using the (Report) button. this means Nairalanders should act as watchdogs on others by reporting any violation of rules...i have never for once reported anyone so i don't know how effective this rule is..mods do people report? 14. Please search the forum before creating a new thread on Nairaland. this is self explanatory..but *laughing* do people ever obey this law? you can find like 3 to 4 threads about the same topic on Nairaland .. 15. Don't attempt to post censored words by misspelling them. this means you should not use prohibited words..but everyday words are censored and everyday Nairalanders find new way of writing them. quite creative ,isn't it? 16. Don't promote MLM schemes, HYIPS, or other questionable schemes on Nairaland. this means you should not promote those "get rich quick" schemes ... most Nairalanders might not know about this schemes except for those that do visit Investment and business sections.. 18. Don't spam the forum by advertising in the wrong places or posting the same content many times.. this has been discussed earlier 19. Don't use alternate accounts to access Nairaland after being banned. If you do, make sure we don't find out. this means once ban just stay there till you are released..but trust Nairalanders they will quickly create an alternate account and even boast to the mod that ban them that if he bans them they will create another account again..some boast of having 6 to 9 alternate accounts... 20. Complaints to or against moderators must be sent privately. Please don't disobey, disrespect, or defame them. this is to protect moderators from the bad mouth of Nairalanders if you have an issue with them send it privately but Nairalanders are known for creating a thread just for a moderator when they feel he or she has over stretched his or her power limit.. 21. Please spell words correctly when you post, and try to use perfect grammar and punctuation. this is simple to understand and it for the good of everyone.. 22. Don't ask Nairaland members for contact details (email, phone, bbpin) or investments. this means you should not ask Nairalanders to post their contact details but people hardly obey this rule as there are a lot of threads filled with contact details of Nairalanders... Thanks for reading! Note: this is only a review and i am not writing that you should disobey Nairaland rules but just pin pointing some weakness for the moderating crew to see and work on... 3 Likes |

But how come I get banned not directly for breaking any of these rules but they get haphazardly modified to suit the sadist moderator's and/or admin's view? The worst part is my bans don't lead to a restructure of the loophole used but the rule still remains ambiguous waiting for me and others to fall again. |
