Upon arrest, a suspect is expected to make statements to investigating authorities irrespective of whatever evidence they have gathered prior to his arrest. Only after making such statements may he then be charged to court.
In Mettuh's case, his failure to make statements and cooperate with EFCC left the agency with no option than to apply for holding order to detain him in the hope he will cooperate. Hence his detention is perfectly in order legally. His continued refusal to write statements will mean an extension to that order to further detain him and NOTHING anybody can do to help him.

How many statements is he suppose to make?

Is he not suppose to sign a statement after writing it?

I think you're the must useless and educated illiterate I have ever seen on this forum. I don't think you even read the piece let alone understand its content. Do they present a summon through an electronic tape? The 'FIR' is always a written document and not orally presented. You can only present oral document during cross examination as exhibit. It's not only good to go to school but allow school to pass through you is the bomb.

I can imagine EFCC telling Metuh "Confess, I said Confess that you collected N400M". It is not the case of the accused to prove that he has committed an offence, it is the duty of the prosecution to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the accused actually committed the offence. Though confessional statement, coukd assist the prosecution but not sacrosanct, courts have severally discarded confessional statement if it is not truly confessional.
It is shameful at this stage for the Efcc to be asking Metuh to disclose how much he collected or relying heavily on his statement. Does it means that he was just arrested to help them get/establish the offence to charge him for? What happened to other facts they have before arresting him?

For me, looking at the way the money was distributed for election purposes, I am beginning to think that no arms money was missing. Where is all the fund PDP raised during presidential dinner fund raise. I guess this government just want to give a dog bad name to see something to hang it. How long will this propaganda continue? Is the EFCC trying to tell us that they were not recording his confession during the probe bt rather relying on the statement he allegedly wrote? I don't seem to understand this saga
