I have been following the so called Dasukigate and I am amazed how easy it is for a government to use the media to deceive and distract the ignorant masses. History has shown that propaganda remains the biggest tool of any government that intends to enslave a people. Unfortnately, even the current opposition has been quite incompetent in putting the records straight

For the records, there is nothing like a $2.1B arms money. It was a propaganda masterstroke well concotted by the DSS and EFCC to distract everyone from the incompetence of the Buhari administration. That is why former president Goodluck Jonathan has come out twice now to put the records staright that he never approved any $2.1B arms money. But it seems the ignorant masses still dont get it. So where did the "$2.1B arms money" headline originate from?

$2.1B was the monies that was allocated to the office of the NSA throughout Dasuki's tenure as NSA. These monies come under SECURITY VOTE. It was not money allocated to the purchase of weapons as the DSS and the EFCC have claimed. That is why they cant take Dasuki to court. They will lose woefully. Security vote is not money allocated for arms purchase. Of the whole monies that make up the $2.1B, only the $300 million from the returned Abacha loot was actually recommended for the purchase of arms. That is why in court, the charges brought against Dasuki was in that range. But they are likely going to lose in court for that because weapons were actually purchased. Whether they are worth $300 million is what the EFCC will have to prove in court. But from the way they have been refusing to follow the court process, one is safe to assume that they dont trust their own case against Dasuki.

But why did they go with the headlines of "$2.1 Billion arms purchase money" when they knew it was not the case? Because the whole anti coruption fight was only a propaganda stunt from the beginning. It was a well crafted stunt to distract the masses and persecute any dissenting voice so Buhari can fully consolidate power. Does that mean I think many of the politicians mentioned in the scandal are clean? By no means! Nigerian politicians are corrupt without a doubt including the presidency and everyone in the rulling APC party. The president's campaign itself was sponsored from corruption. The Amaechi corruption scandals are well documented with very strong evidence.

If Dasuki has stolen any funds, he should be prosecuted accordingly, but the media propaganda and charade has got to stop. Media trial is injustice in itself. I find it really deceitful when I see lines like "what will you tell the Nigerian soldiers that didnt have weapons to fight and were killed because Dasuki shared the arms money". That is nothing but propaganda and trying to appeal to sentiments to push a narrative. If that were the case, what has the same military been using to fight BH in the last 8 months since Buhari has not bought any new weapons? What weapons did the army use to push back BH prior to the 2015 elections? Did they push BH back with their bare hands too? Even Lie Mohammed claims BH has been defeated. With which weapons did the army defeat BH? With their bare hands?

It is important we put all these straight so we dont fall for cheap propoaganda by a government that has completely lost its way. The same government that claims they are fighting corruption came out with a terrible corruption laden budget where they intended to connect cables from the President's residence to the drivers residence with N300 million. In fact, the budget of yams was so laden with coruption that they had to shamelessly withdraw it.

The world has changed. If the current government thinks they will continue to rule with propaganda, they should think again because they will be exposed again and again. Thank God for social media and the Internet!

Sorry to everybody that I have to quote the entire first post.
For the first, I see a writer who is actually thinking.
I have said similar things in bits in many of my posts online.

President Jonathan said he never awarded any contract of $2.1 Billion dollars. So where did the money come from?

This sycophants in an attempt to please their perceived Mr. Integrity, calculated all the security budget of Dasuki and told us he shared the money. Really?
Since Buhari have not bought any weapons, what weapons is he and Lai Muhammed using to win Boko Haram technically?

This is just like religion that was imposed on us. We are being forced to beleive Dasuki shared 2.1 Billion dollars by Media. I am sure none of those Media outlets has any clue about where the money come from.

They just post propaganda news all over the place..
I am sure all Nigerian Politicians are corrupt. We haven't seen the government that will help us. That government will come when Atleast 60% of Nigerians cast their votes for their preferred candidates without expecting money for their votes.

No Sir! The $2.2 billion wasn't for "security vote" as you claim. It was an extra-budgetary amount that the FG set aside for arms purchase. It is different from the $1billion that the FG borrowed in 2014 for same purpose and other budgeted expenses.

The so-called $300million returned Abacha loot forms part of the $2.2 billion extra budgeted for arms purchase. They aren't for "Security vote". Even the authorisation by Jonathan said arms purchase. Sambo Dasuki didn't deny that. In fact, he said that Jonathan approved the $2.2billion for the purpose.

N/B: The arms purchase $2.2billion is different from the appropriated monies by the NASS. Allow the people invoved to defend themselves.

Welcome to Nairaland Supreme Court where cases are won by mouth!

GEJ said..., PMB claimed..., APC denied...., Sambo admitted..., EFCC discovered.

There's a little to differentiate all I'm reading here from reported speech. They're baseless until they're published in public domain.

well analysed writeup there! but this raises one or two questions and those are:

Where does the money that was distributed to those people that have been mentioned so far comes from?

Or no money was ever distributed to anybody and the names being mentioned is part of the propaganda?

But mind you, not one of those people, despite realising the implications of the scandal on their political career denied to have collected money from the last administration.

This is a good question.. However, we were told that PDP raised over 2 billion naira campaign money.. So who shared those ones?

Secondly, are we in the position to tell PDP who will share their money for them?

What baffles me in this issue is that the government is accussing Dasuki of diverting or misappropriating $2.2 billion ( 500 billion naira). Yet they took him to court for diverting 13billion naira. Who then is responsible for the rest?

Dasuki has already been charged to court. He is in detention for a different case. He wants to run abroad in the name of bail. The FG however is dishing the meal bit by bit.

Perhaps, you are not aware that Sambo released statement on this issue and NEVER in the statement refuted the $2.2 billion sum.

Again, save your epistle for the judge.

Some people can be so funny in defending the indefensible. Let us assume from your write up that the money was meant for security vote, what then is security vote meant for? Is security vote meant for sharing with political allies? When you include security votes in your budget, it implies the money should be use for any uprising including purchase of arms to quell insurgency and not for distribution among PDP.

All state Governor collect security vote but not for security Purpose. They use the fund for political issue and personal use just as Dasuki did. This is Nigeria grin

I laugh out loud when I meet people here arguing over politicians political mess. I don't know what is exactly is wrong with us, the common citizens, defending shady politicians who don't care about us. Imagine the mind-boggling huge amount of monies they sat and shared among themselves comfortably and confidently. Never had us in their minds when doing so, and we are here defending them over our own lost. I don't know if we're being bewitched by them to be blinded forever, and even fighting against our liberty. C'mon, it's time we wise up and say no to them, and welcome our liberation, thanks.

https://www.thecable.ng/exclusive-dasuki-got-jonathans-approvals-collect-2-1bn-nnpc-9-months

"Sambo Dasuki, former national security adviser, received an extra-budgetary allocation of $2.1 billion from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) within nine months after approvals by former President Goodluck Jonathan, TheCable can report. Dasuki is currently being investigated by the federal government over the billions of dollars released for the procurement of arms for counter-terrorism operations under Jonathan.
Documents seen by TheCable showed the breakdown of NNPC’s disbursements to the office of the NSA as follows:

$1 billion on March 27, 2014;

$200 million on April 9, 2014;

$600 million on May 5, 2014;

and, same day, $200 million following a request for $250 million.

The documents also showed that on January 12, 2015, he got $100 million, bringing the total amount his office received from the NNPC to $2.1 billion within the nine months. "

"TheCable can report, however, that Jonathan approved all the disbursements by NNPC, with his senior special assistant on administrative matters, Matt Aikhionbere, writing the covering letters conveying presidential consent to the corporation after the president had minuted on Dasuki’s requests.

"

One of the reason why the NNPC audit report was suppressed and subsequently embargoed

You have nothing to say my friend. If I call you a sycophant, it is not an insult. It is a compliment

You just repeated the same nonsense you posted before (and nonsense is not an insult. It means something doesnt make sense). If Dasuki gave Dopkesi monies that he should not have giving him in the first place, Dasuki will be guilty of fraud, not just conspiracy. That is diversion of funds. That is misappropriation! You do not even need a Dopkesi to prosecute him for that! You dey fall hand bro

Are you not with this statement, disqualifying your earlier post.Dasuki is being charges for misappropriation of government funds and abuse of the office of the ONSA, due to his own claims as to what the money was used for and whom may have approved it(yet to be confirmed by GEJ, thou NOI did confirm signature of a memo) , what the EFCC are now doing is coalition of the recipients of such disbursement to enquire if they are co-conspirators.

So far many have confirmed receipt of funds from the ONSA for party activities, which is conventionally not the duty of the ONSA.

Let the dust settle first. I'm yet to see what EFCC are doing as wrong. Our society is perverse and destroyed by corruption it is time we rescue it and your assertions do not show you share that desire
