APC can't win that seat with Sharon Ikeazor. Their best shot at that seat will be Uche Ekwunife. I really like Sharon but I don't see her winning that seat should APC decide to gift her the ticket. Its left to APC to either reward party loyalty by nominating Sharon and losing the election or encourage political prostitution and have a sure chance of winning.

Devil and deep blue sea situation for APC. I don't envy them at all.

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the South-East, Mr. Osita Okechukwu has urged Ndigbo to totally support Mrs. Sharon Ikeazor for the Anambra Central Senatorial election.

Okechukwu in a statement on Tuesday said her election would provide an opportunity for the people of South-East to regain what they lost during the 2015 general elections.

The APC chieftain, who chaired the APC screening committee for the party’s primary ahead of the rerun election said, “outside the provisions of the guideline of our great party, we feel this is the second chance for Ndigbo to join the inner caucus of the ruling APC. Sharon is a foundation women leader of the APC and veteran opposition activist. Ndigbo in this segment of our 4th republic democracy did not produce the President, Vice President, Senate President, Speaker and are not in the inner caucus of the ruling party. We want Sharon to fill this void.

“Ndigbo had the first chance, when we appealed to the voters in Anambra State Central Senatorial District to vote for Senator Chris Ngige, now Minister of Labour and Employment. They missed the golden opportunity, a crucial scenario where Ngige could have by now been the Senate President. We hope they grab this chance.”

“Do you know that there is no Igbo senator or member of House of Representatives who is a member of the either the APC Senate Caucus or House Caucus?

“Even our son, the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu is not a member, because he is not a member of the ruling party. He belongs to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). And the NASS caucus meets bi-weekly with the Secretary to Government of the Federation, Mr Vice President and Mr President”, he added.

Reacting to fears in some quarters that Ikeazor may lose the election for not having political structure, Okechukwu insisted that she has structure.

“To me, structure is the voters, not buildings and we have enough members to guarantee her victory. I am happy that the leadership of the party has embarked on reconciliation and mobilization. When you combine the Hon Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Ngige’s and Senator Uche Ekwunife’s structures and Sharon’s primary supporters, she will win. Don’t forget the majority of the voters are independent”, he stated.

On the possibility of Chief Victor Umeh of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, winning the election, he said “there is no doubt that APGA is on ground in certain axis of the senatorial district, especially Anaocha, but they are not as popular in Idemili North and South, where Sharon comes from. Most importantly, the voters are aware that if Chief Umeh is elected, he will only be a noise maker and a ‘Lone Ranger’ in the Senate. He will be the only APGA senator and can only bark, as a high chief. He will be a darling of the press without tangible democracy dividends. Unlike Sharon who automatically becomes a member of APC caucus, who knows all the ministers on ‘one to one’ and has unfettered access to the Aso Villa.

“There is no doubt that Sharon will attract infrastructural development and job opportunities for her district and South-East in general. She will facilitate the 2nd Niger Bridge, fix federal roads and give access to business men. In fact Sharon is the new Amazon if voted into the Senate.”
