The anti corruption war has become the reigning slogan in Nigeria in recent times.Infact, this slogan can only be rivalled with other seasonal slogan like "oga at the top","na only you waka come" just to mention a few.
Only recently, president Buhari voices out his frustration on the calibre of Judges we have and even stated that he is looking for fearless Judges. His intention was clear,He need Judges that will neither collect bribe, nor look people in the face while administering judgement with justice. Judges who are not sentimental who do not care if the die after pronouncing an unfavourable judgement on the guilty one no matter how highly placed.

The president was thinking right because he felt that series of court injunctions was affecting his corruption drive and being the kind of person he is,he will prefer to pick up an accused and the fearless judge will pronounce he/she guilty and sentence to jail without any long legal Jargon.
However, his idea of a fearless Judge might not really be the true definition of a fearless Judge in a democratic setting. In a democratic setting, there are well laid down procedures on how to try an accused, even if you are sure they committed the said offence. But obviously from the presidents body language he is not interested in that long judicial procedure. He will prefer a ;you are corrupt! You are under arrest! You are hear by sentence to.....years in jail and your properties and assets are hereby confiscated.

Moreover, with the continuous disobedience of court orders and no Judge or Lawyer is standing up to say NO to this abuse of court orders, obviously,we don't have a fearless Judge or lawyer.infact few that have tried speaking out where speaking as though they were talking from there bed room.some days ago, one fearless
Lagos-based lawyer Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa ,came out to sue the government for the immediate release of the Olisa metuh, only for us to wake up and realised that he has withdrawn his petition sitting series of calls as reasons for his withdrawal .surely he is not a fearless lawyer.Or is he?
Oh! where is the late Gain fawemi?where is the former Femi Falana?(probalby waiting for political appointment) where is Olisa agbakoba, where is Festus Kiyamo? Etc.the seems to have lost their voices.Even the NBA who should be going on strike to ensure that the Law is respected are just only indicated in a soft tone that it's not right but can't take a decisive stand. How then can we find a fearless Judge? President Buhari must be right. They are scarce.

Nigerian lawyers and judges are not blindfolded to give justice as it is supposed to be. Their eyes are open to see and dance to the tune of the highest bidder. angry
