I hate that armoured cords, if your tank is light armoured, one rpg, you all are gone.

It's the same reason why many SSC guys dread that corp, their death most likely will be roasting from an RPG, or high explosive device. Aside that as a tank commander you're almost invincible, na pure cruise and you have this feeling as a Pilot. Nevertheless you're always in for a rollercoaster joy ride.

Looking at the real life events from which the movie "the outpost" was culled from, it was observed that it was a bad idea to build the military outpost surrounded by mountains which were shelters to a lot of hostiles. In fact on further investigation, it was revealed that the outpost (camp Keating as it was called) was kinda cut off from sister units and the only air support they had had an ETA of approx 45 mins. These and many more are the reasons for the casualties they sustained when the outpost was attacked

I honestly wasnt very impressed with the movie. It wasnt as action-packed as i thought. The main action began from the middle of the movie when the Talibans attacked.

But i really admire the sense of brotherliness and love the soldiers shared. See how Pt. Carter refused to let specialist Mace bleed out there when he got shot. They all immediately began to donate blood for him and his life was saved.

Those 2 Captains (Keating and Yllescason or so) that died in quick succession bothered me. Captain Broward would have died too, if not that he was "coward", according to Pt. Carter.

The movie was still worth the time though

It took effect last year and prolly those that resigned had applied far more earlier when the policy took effect.
But someone said that report is false that it is almost impossible to resign from the army now except on medical ground or you just japaa.

Majority of the senior officers holding enviable position as introduced by the MC are SSC officers, good to hear.

Bro, no disrespect but this sounds too theoretical

In an actual war setting with stressed men and a dire situation, how would a lieutenant maintain the calm?
Haba Nah, I understand U brother...

Your first priority must be to become worthy of leading them. Lead by example every day and in everything you do, whether it is at physical training, on field exercises, or on the range. Face it, you will have to prove yourself every day as a lieutenant. Put yourself in their shoes and take a hard look at yourself.
(1) Would you follow a person with your standards?
(2) Would you follow a person with your level of tactical and technical expertise? Do not be a hypocrite.

If you expect the soldiers to meet a certain standard, ensure you exceed it. Stay cool under pressure and be a calming presence in the platoon when things get stressful. Remember this when you arrive as a new platoon leader, you are like a transplanted organ. THE BODY (PLATOON) EITHER ACCEPTS OR REJECTS YOU BASED ON YOUR PROFESSIONALISM AND ATTITUDE.

There is this English proverb, "it is from the house of the coward that we will point to the ruins of the strong man".

I understood that proverb more, after that movie. Capt. Broward was scared, but he lived to tell the tale. A good mix of courage and smartness will keep one alive in the military job.

In course 44, i remember Lt. (now Capt. Abel) telling us that if your ammo finishes during gunfire exchange with insurgents, you should run! Dont look back, run! Y'all needed to see him demonstrate that day. We laugh tire.

That movie explains what some of our soldiers go through in their post.
I still don't know why NA isn't taking advantage of elevation by using hescos but rather still using WW1 tactics of building trenches.
Sir, any input on this?

Honestly, the implementation of the super camp strategy has improved alot of things especially base defence setup. Hescos are now a common site in bases in theatre of operations even now excavators are used to dig trenches unlike when soldiers dug same with shovels.
It's a gradual process the HESCOs are very expensive nevertheless most of these things are already being implemented/used.

Ok, that's better.
I just feel sorry for our troops each time there's an attack.
NA can do better to provide MRAPs and IFV as standard vehicles for patrols instead of of light skin hilux.
The constant loss of lives due to corruption by the top brass weakens the morale of soldiers that face the brunt of war daily.

This isn't bad.
Let's just get our shit together and take the offensive position on these guy (JAS & ISWAP) instead of always repelling.
We can only win this war when we start to implement the right tactics and approach this war the war it is.

The reason for the apparent lack of action at the beginning of the movie was because the director wanted to strictly follow the real life events as they unfolded....according to the soldiers that were there, the Taliban didn't attack in full might at first because thy were probing the American defenses at first to understand all about it: their reaction time, location of their armor depot, personnel count etc.....

I'm sure Boko Haram attacks our vulnerable positions in the same way....with large, overwhelming numbers

I agree we're supposed have a change of tactics and be on the offensive, but military tacticians will tell you they need the right equipments to do so, pre 2015 elections ebenlow's PMC together with 72MSF routed Bokoharam within 4 weeks seizing all territories from them.
This isn't difficult for the army to do of given the level of support those guys where given, note they had a dedicated attack helicopter, assorted weapons a tech gadgets at their disposal to carryout their operations and they were paid in millions of dollars.
Hopefully we will get it right someday.

PS
Bokoharam is not a ragtag militia if you know you know, especially when they formed alliance with ISWAP.

Exactly bro....I just imagine amassing 30 brand new (not fairly used) modern tanks for the mission....that's where you'll see Book Haram shouting "blood of Jesus"

BH are not fighting conventional warfare with NA. They employ guerrilla tactics and occasionally use advantage of large numbers against small troops
Check out Vietnam war, communist vs nationalist in China, Cuba etc. Guerrilla army are just annoying and sometimes difficult to fight.

Boko haram have different factions, The Shekau faction which operates around sambisa and the AlBarnawi faction that operates in the lake Chad region. The AlBarnawi guys only kill soldiers and other combatants but the Shekau guys kill any living thing they meet including civilians/villagers.
The army has decapitated the capability of Shekau's led Bokoharam to mount assaults on troops, it's the AlBarnawi faction that is more daring and launches attack on bases.

Simply art of war sir.
In my opinion, I think some people in power and influential position don't want this war to end.
