The Engineers should be arrested and prosecuted

Before arresting the Engineers, let us ask this question:
Was the building approved by the Lagos State government and its agency?
I will like to know if the building had a building permit/approval issued by the Lagos State Govt.

Arrest the landlord, quantity surveyors and builders of that house. Let the know there is a rice to pay if they choose mediocrity and put people's lives in danger.

I am not so happy to hear this. but i will say it is as a result of putting a round peg in a square hole. i am very sure that it is not a Professional Builder that handled the project. you see clients giving their building construction project to quacks ranging from their brother, friend, Carpenter, bricklayer, developer etc. instead of awarding it to a registered/professional Builder or probably Civil Engineer or a firm that is licensed. I am sure that such a licensed person will know that the reputation of the company as well as the license is at stake, as a result of this, all necessary precautions / standards will be given special consideration.

the building is under construction, the unfortunate dead people are the site workers.

A five-storey building collapsed in the early hours of Tuesday at Lekki Phase 1, Lagos State, resulting in the deaths of at least four people.

As of 9am, four people have been recovered dead and six others rescued.

The spokespersons for the National Emergency Management Agency, South West zone, Ibrahim Faronloye, and the Director of the Lagos State Fire Service, Rasak Fadipe, said search and rescue operation is ongoing.

From preliminary opinion, I suspect rapid reduction of load bearing capacity of the subsoil structure culminating in differential settlement and eventual structural failure. It most likely a ground up thing.
