If you want to call it that fine. The dude knows what needs to be done and he is working on it.

It's easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission and Kachikwu knows that.

Op you have stated the obvious.... have said this before and will continue to say it..Fashola work load is too much....for heaven sake you don't give work and power ministry to an individual let alone addition of housing ... ...Fashola should politely inform PMB that the work is too much for him...there is a difference BTW being a state governor and being a supposed super minister where Nigerians watch you closely grin

As for Fayemi....that one said he should be given time to study his ministry.....so he is still studying it grin

The way I will summarize this post is thus:

Good intentions, naive shortsighted conclusions.

You dont need to be an electrical engineer to be minister of power. The ministry deals with policy and regulation of the industry, and not the power generation or distribution per se. Besides, there are hundreds of engineers working in the ministry in their respective fields to deliver optimum results. Same goes for all the other ministries, except for Ministry of Justice where the AG must be a SAN.

Govt functions best with a mix of both politicians and technocrats. Politicians manage the people, technocrats manage the industry.
There are core ministries that dont need politicians rather people with technical know how

Buhari ministers are a mess and are as helpless as LVG management of Man U

You on point though.... but what the Op is saying is that there are some ministry we shouldn't play politics with....is just like saying an Engineer should be made the Minister of Finance.

I really think PMB need to reshuffle his cabinet

More importantly, I think we need to break away from this "paper qualification" mentality. I may be an economist, but never practice it and have an entire life experience as an administrator. Paper qualification doesnt always equate with personal skills

1) The finance minister is an Economist, simple google search would help you.
2) Ministers are policy drivers and the fact that you will fail in a technical ministry says a lot about your intelligence (No offence).
- Head of World bank is a Medical doctor
- The UK Secretary of State for Energy studied History
- The UK Minister of State for Energy studied Political Science.
3) Unless your definition of technocrat means something else, a good number of the ministers were doing well in the private sector before they joined government.
you are wrong. United kingdom is not Nigeria. Uk has existed for centuries and has built very strong institutions for itself. Starting from parliament to the electoral system and from monarchy to religion there institutions have remained almost unshaken since after the english revolution. Their govt ministeris and depts are also well developed and stable and therefore need administrators to manage the proffessional within their ministeries.
But Nigeria where we are almost starting from the scratch, where sectors of the economy require basic works that require technical expertise you dare not bring a misfit to head a ministry if u re a serious leader. What does fashola know abt power? Will wearing long suit and speaking ubfuscating grammar fix light? What does he know abt latest technology in power supply and distribution which an engineer of international repute should know. All members buharis cabinet are not supposed to head there ministries. He even put a pharmacist to head inec b4 it generted uproar. Do u think we would have stopped ebola if someone like fashola was in health?

Part of the mistakes of Buhari is ignoring we the progressives on nairaland with appointments after labouring so hard and receiving insults and curses on his behalf. He even had the balls not to bail our party APC so that our online subsidy can be paid. we have down tools and exposed him to more mockery till further notice.
