The Aztecs believe that God will cleanse the world in raging fire every 52 years, so in order to prevent this, they came up with a ritual. It involved every Aztec gathering all his material possession and burning them in huge bonfires. Thus the world was save, well at least for another 52 years. Sounds stupid, right? Don't let an Aztec hear that, lest your head be ripped off, flayed and set upon a spike. It was their belief, their way of life, their religion. We all know the world won't burn every 52 years but it didn't matter to them just like it doesn't matter to Taoists, Buddhists, Muslims, Jews, Celts or even Christians. The hardest thing to take away from people is their belief. The more you say its wrong, the more they say its right. Ever notice every region is fashioned after its point of origin. The Yoruba traditionalists for example belief the creation of man started in Ife before men spread to other parts of the world. Research on other creation stories to confirm. The point is religion is simply man's attempt to commune with God but just like anything manmade, it is flawed, imperfect. It should not be treated was Divine nor forced down people's throat. We should all find God in our own way and if you don't, you are not to blame. Its not as if there are lots of proofs lying around. BT the religion extremism must stop. I have a right to refuse to belief in a religion founded by a necrophiliac or one where some are created for destruction.

What i just finished reading has a particular name, it is call the fallacy of composition, which is where someone has a belief based on what is true for the part, and believes that it is a truth for the whole.

You are right. Every one has a right to not have his will interfered with in the issues of God.
As for your quote on (false) religion - it's spot on.
It is man trying to contact God. True religion - is God contacting man.
Not man searching for God but God coming to look for man.
