TheGoodJoe:As long as I can understand the reason behind the Man's action. I still feel he's going about it the wrong way by targeting innocent girls. It's not like the players themselves haven't used their social platforms to speak against the government especially during the End SARS period or the super eagles have not talked about boycotting games. We've seen players like Drogba use the National team as a platform to cool internal tensions in their country. Why not encourage that?? If we're to go by this your statement the super eagles team of 1994 and 1996 wouldn't have achieved what they achieved. You taking Football away from Nigerians is you taking them closer to depression particularly with the current state of the country 4 Likes 1 Share |

You guys are gradually turning this section to politics section, this is very wrong and irritating…we are here to talk football and sport in general i think we should stick to that. |

Olulong: What we had in the mid nineties is no way comparable with what we are seeing here. Let us not forget innocent youths, shot at Lekki with live rounds of ammunition. We can compare what we have today with Abacha or Babangida. |

chrisooblog: You can't compare what Americans are facing to what is going on today in Nigeria. Remember Orlu massacre. Remember Oyigbo Massacre. Remember how DSS stormed Igboho's house at the dead of the night, killed people and took their bodies. It is just too grave to think all is well. I repeat, this man sounded louder than any protest done recently. I only wished he was less vulgar and insulting. However, it showed his stance against supporting the current Government in any form. I still remember the eyes of one of the ladies hit by s stray bullet in Oyigbo. The fright in her eyes she was dying when friends were rushing her to the hospital. That stuff gave me chills. Her eyes were too wide with fright. 1 Like 1 Share |

codemaniacs: Igboho is being hunted down for doing the same. That is my point. I agree people should devise means of protecting themselves. It is a must now the FG and to some extent State Governments are unwilling to protect lives. |

codemaniacs: I for one is someone who believed that we should separate sports and politics. However, the action of that man with the Falcons gave me a new insight. Throughout history, sports and government have intertwined. A good example is the American government trying to get Mohammed Ali to support the war against Vietnam and Mohammed Ali said, THEM KONGS DID NOT CALL ME NI()A. I think we should recognize that destruction from an evil Government will still rain on sports lovers too. |

TheGoodJoe: you don't understand Nigeria's situation and most of Africa's situation, from ends:ars and all the protests, killings, destructions that have happened the bri:tish have helped to sweep such protests, destructions, killings under the carpet.. no amount of protests will make the leadership structure in Nigeria change because of indirect rule which means all our presidents are "anointed" by the british and also protesting against the gov:t is protesting against democracy and they ( brit:ish and the U.N ) are against anyone that is against democracy. the destruction will only rain on sports lovers if sports lovers also start protesting... Lagos was peaceful before ends:ars turned to anarchy and chaos because the govt sponsored thugs hijacked it and started causing chaos which opened the doors to more violence... the same happened in South Africa, protests turned to looting and violence... In Africa, especially black African countries the protests will always turn violent and looting, killings will occur because that's the best way to discredit the protesters. who else will want to discredit protesters other than the sitting govt and the people who created the system of govt Nigeria is currently using.. the best thing to do like I said before, is to ensure your community, or state is peaceful and thriving and also attacking and arresting people that kill innocent people in your state or community.. the concern should be your state or community not the whole of Nigeria because you want improvement does not mean other people also want improvement, some people only bring destruction and unrest and that h:ausa man is only encouraging unrest and destruction and that's how you should see it but its not my place to tell you how to see things.... please let's stop this, this is a sports thread, it has been derailed enough.. 1 Like |

TheGoodJoe:This is my last comment on this issue, after which I'll stick back to football only. Despite all the countless reasons given to you on how they're not supporting the government. You still continue to abandon any form of rationality and just resort to emotions. I don't want to sound unconcerned here, but how is our national team connected with those massacres. Or have you heard of any situation where a national team stopped playing because of killings in the country. Rather they use it as a platform for campaign for healing and peace to the country. I guess you have forgotten how the Super Eagles stood in solidarity with us during the game against Algeria. Osimhen and Simy's goal celebration. Some even made donations. Even some players like Zogg talked about endSARS long before anyone even knew she existed. Do you fvcking think its fair we turn around to make them the government's supporters. Simply because they play for the National team? Our should we go ahead and close the national team because of Buhari? You should as well close your business join na. 1 Like |

Ppogbae: Not really bro. Maybe or maybe not. I'm defending no party but.... In La liga, the rule is that first-team players (A-Team) are given 25 slots and MUST wear numbers 1-25. Keepers are given special numbers 1,13 & 25. It's hard to retire jersey number(s) in Spain because of the said rule. Sevilla tried to retire Puerta's but could not unless they are ready to play with -1. And also, Alaba is a BIG player. |
