Kog45: I was one of those that criticized Keshi for the inclusion of Michael Okechukwu Uchebo in that team. I knew Uchebo right from when he played at the 2009 AYC. He never had a flourishing career up till when Keshi called him up for the 2014 WC. So I wasn't expecting anything from him post 2014 WC. The player I even had some glitter of hope on was Ejike Uzoenyi considering his obvious abilities. But how Ejike's career hit the rocks in the PSL is still shocking. I personally had issues with so many of Keshi's players selections. Rohr is a lot different and I think I have agreed with him to a 98% extent. 1 Like |

Icon4s: Oga u always distort facts when it comes to Ighalo. He is a legend in Granada but u are saying he struggled for all these years. How old is Ighalo that he could struggle for up to 7 years in Europe? The question should be when last did he play for Nigeria? Fact is that he was only on a 1 match scoreless streak if we can call it that, last goal was against Luxemburg and he didn't score against Tanzania. 1 Like |

Real Madrid football club are undoubtedly the best team in the world right now. They possess the best players and have an equally great coach- who happens to be a former balon d'or holder and club legend. When Zidane was promoted to being the first team coach, many thought that he would not be able to succeed due to his gross inexperience. Analysts pointed out that even his former boss, Carlo Ancelotti, with all his experience and track record, was promptly shown the door when the going got tough. To say that Zidane has exceeded expectations is kind of an understatement, he has delivered beyond what any fan, player and even the club itself expected. Zidane lead Madrid to their 11th Champions league title. After faltering under Rafa Benitez's reign, Real Madrid and most especially Cristiano Ronaldo was able to find his best form back under Zidane. Zidane has been an unprecedented success at Madrid and is also expected to pick up more trophies along the way. However, the journey this season has not been really smooth. Real Madrid started the season with consecutive wins in the super cups against Manchester United and Barcelona respectively. Truly amazing. The way guys came for his head post-South Africa made me shake my head. Ofcos, he struggled in that game but his quality remains.... that was his first baptism of fire. They have forgotten so soon that this lad broke into FC Porto's first team and also played against Porto's biggest rivals, Benfica and came out in flying colors. Truth is he was always bound to make some mistakes or struggle as all young players will do but I knew he will bounce back stronger because of his undeniable innate quality and also hardwork on his part. Awaziem is a future top defender and has the potentials to be one of Africa's leading "Backmen" (aka center backs) in the long run. He can only get better with time and age. Really hope he keeps to this path of his beautiful evolution into something great. Keep soaring lad. TheGoodJoe: 2 Likes |

WAFU Cup: Okpotu Targets Goal, Victory Against Benin By Johnny Edward Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) top scorer, Anthony Okpotu, is looking to add to his goal tally for the Home Super Eagles when they face Benin Republic in the semi-finals of the ongoing 2017 WAFU Cup of Nations tournament in Ghana, Completesportsnigeria.com reports. Okpotu got off the mark for the Super Eagles in their final Group A game against Ghana which they won 2-0 after firing blanks in their first two matchws with Mali and Guinea. The Lobi Stars striker scored 19 goals in the just concluded 2016/2017 NPFL season told Completesportsnigeria.com that his goal against Ghana was a huge relive to him because of the huge confidence many had on him to deliver at the tournament. “I am very relieved to have scored against Ghana because failing to score in the first two games was getting to me prior to the second half of that game,” Okpotu told Completesportsnigeria.com. “The goal restored so much confidence in me, and I can play with more freedom now. “The game against Benin Republic will be tough but we are confident that we can win it.” The Super Eagles finished second in Group A behind hosts, Ghana. They will face Benin Republic at the Cape Coast Stadium today (Thursday) at 3pm. Meanwhile, Nigeria defender Stephen Eze is a major doubt for the semi-final match against Benin Republic. The FC Ifeanyiubah lanky defender sat out Wednesday’s training due to illness. Source: https://www.completesportsnigeria.com/okpotu-targets-goal-victory-benin/ |

LaLiga Celebrates Finidi As Hero Of Real Betis’ Win At Real Madrid By James Agberebi The Spanish Football League body, LaLiga, has paid glowing tribute to former Nigeria international Finidi George after his former club Real Betis stunned league champions Real Madrid 1-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday night. Betis, against the odds, shocked Madrid who had Cristiano Ronaldo back after completing a five-game ban. Antonio Sanabria’s scored the solitary 94th minute winner to silent the home crowd. The win for Betis was their first at the Santiago Bernabeu since 1998 when they also won 1-0 following Finidi’s lone strike. Reacting to the surprise win on Wednesday, LaLiga described Finidi and Sanabria as true heroes for their parts in Betis’ memorable wins at the dreaded Santiago Bernabeu. “Finidi (1998) Sanabria (2017), the heroes of the last two victories of Real Betis at the Bernabeu,” LaLiga tweet on their verified Twitter handle. Finidi joined Betis in 1996 from Ajax Amsterdam and spent four years with the club. Icon4s: Before now must not be when Ike Shorunmu was retiring. We can go to the Agbim calamitous era. Ezenwa was already keeping then and from discussions with some ex-Sharks FC players, he was also good when he was at Sharks. Yet, Akpeyi gets the nod. What about the Olympics era where a calamitous Akpeyi got the nod. I agree with whosoever said Ezenwa should have been introduced before now. I also agree with Kog45 that we still have gems in the local league. We should kill our lazy approach in looking in and keep hunting for gems both local and overseas. |

TheSuperNerd: Even after pointing out that the young man was exposed due to the disorganization of our midfielders, the hawks will not agree. I hope he keeps working hard, listening to Ranieri and also paying attention while in camp with Rohr. As long as Awaziem works hard and absorbs the lessons he gets, he can become a great. |

I can bet Dele Ajiboye and Alampasu are better than Akpeyi. However, with Ezenwa, Alampasu and Ajiboye better than Akpeyi, the Experience card gives the weakest of four keepers the nod. This is why I find selection by experience funny. Grade and select the best. Very funny idea.

iamdynamite: Keep in mind that poor continental performances does not mean there are no quality players in the league. When it comes o player selection, it has to do with individuals and not teams. Disorganization, poor preparation and other factors can affect team performances. We are talking of discovering special gems in the league. |

It seems Pinnick has committed Tammy Abraham to finally chose Nigeria. But let the lad not wake up tomorrow & tell us that he wants to be part of England's golden generation. My opinion is that Pinnick should not put all his eggs in one basket. If the boy does not eventually turn out for us, we have nothing to lose. Nigeria too has a golden generation of stars at our disposal. We will still survive! We are just trying to help his career so he shouldn't take us for granted! |

elyte89: Ogbeche suffered from lack of service. People keep making analysis without looking at the background. There came a point in time Jay-jay was more interested in his rep than team performances. That was why he could even become one of the top scorers with the strikers starving, including Martins. We need the best in the team. It is this kind of arguments that repeatedly argued against Ezenwa. Players of quality have risen from obscure league. A good example is Shaqiri from Switzerland league. I think Arnautovic from Austria. We need the best. That is the only way to build a formidable force. 1 Like |
