This thing wey una de overflog no follow. If this is not about Lookman, to who does he owe explanation for his judgement?

I for one do not rate many of this generation of stars and will gladly refrain from voting them butif necessity is laid on me based on my position as a coach to choose, as far as there more options I am free to "waste" my vote.

It's becoming the Nigerian norm to waste vote and we shouldn't wait for a time it will bite us again before we realize why merit should be top reason, or anything close to merit. Not the faaaarrrr off choice that AE just did. Messi? Messi? Why are we so eager to let him get off the hook for that choice? Its like voting for Beckham when both Messi and Ronaldo are at the peak of contesting every available laurel in individual awards years ago.

As for the bolded, it doesn't justify this stance. You assume he did this because he doesn't rate, at least that's what im getting as hint.

If as a coach in the modern game, you don't see any of the ballers that sweat and gave their all and won laurels to rate, and then na Messi you rate in 2024, then you have no business as a coach. C'est fini.

It's not that serious, but it is that serious still.

Pls I'm confused here. Ademola Looman wasn't nominated for the FIFA the best men's best player award. Why are people here now angry that Eguaveuon voted Messi and not Lookman as if Lookman was nominated in the first instance.
Some Nigerians will always complain.
They are already wired to complain over everything.
As a Nigerian, if I have the opportunity to vote, I would have voted Messi because to me, till he hangs his boots, he will remain the best.
So, I don't know why they are complaining about AE choice. Imagine some of them whose highest qualification in life is an ssce saying AE is backward in his thinking because he voted Messi.

We have seen PhD holders in this country make stupid decisions. As a head coach or a captain of a national team you are representing the whole country, it shouldn't be about sentiment but merit. If you like stay in your house and vote a Messi on wheelchair as your world best it's your choice but doesn't reflect your intelligence nor level of education.

Instead of seeing the foolishness of that sole decision, we're seeing more justifying his actions with funny excuses. Smh. Is it a Nigerian thing to ignore the wrong in an act, but use all energy to justify the wrong and show why the other side are wrong despite not being wrong? undecided

If we criticized Osa and Perpetual that year, why can't AE also be for this funny decision? Let's not forget when Tega that also also voted.

Anyways, where Goodjoe. Will City finish top 6 at this rate? Because even as KDB is back, that Rodri out is affecting this team. Safe to say he is the mitochondria of this team.

Dominating place but extending the streak. Interesting isn't it.

Again, you're not judge or jury in this matter. At best you have your opinion on his own opinion.

Based on the criteria of TheBest award, there is enough room for any coach to choose. Wdym it's not rational to choose a player who is MLS MVP and shone at Copa America 2024?

This is not who is tallest or something that has a metric that is stiff. As far as there is a base criteria, it's a valid choice! Neither is it odd.

Spare us.

The "merit" is outlined in the criteria for voting The Best. The latitude is quite wide enough to expect that sentiments will be part of decision making.

Make una stop this false dilemma that it is either merit or sentiments

The same Copa that when he had to go off because of swollen ankle the whole stadium was chanting Messi?

It was Lautaro's tournament but Messi wasn't pedestrian

The more you try to justify that odd choice, the more hilarious you sound. Let me do you small goal goal jare

"Why didn't he choose the Best player from the Scottish League or the Turkish league this year 2024?"

Yeah. That's how you sound. Oh, The Saudi League MVP is there too.

And more and more you drift away from the mark.

No worry now! You say is not stiff asif merit alone is not a stiff metric all by itself.

AE made a very big mistake, he should have contacted you first or asked Nigerians to vote for who Nigerians wanted him to vote for before he came out to vote Messi since he was representing you guys as Nigerians.
It's the same you and your likes that are also praising the Ivorian coach for voting Lookman when his country man was among the top 5 list. Since you clapped for him, does that means he voted for Lookman base on what his country wished for since he was also representing the whole of ivoire coast?

It was clear that Banda would win the Women Player of the year, would you have clapped for AE if he had voted for Banda instead of the Nigerian representative?

I insist that most of you are always fond of complaining, you guys have been wired to complain over everything, else I see no reason for the complaint of who AE voted for when no Nigerian was on the FIFA list.

And since according to you AE was representing the country with his vote, what makes you think most Nigerians would have voted for Vinicius or Bellingham over Messi if Nigerians were asked to vote on behalf of Nigeria? πŸ€”

Baba all what I'm seeing you do is circular reasoning. Like working your way up from your conclusion to create how you got there.

Your "goal goal" in fact is valid. Any coach can choose the best player from the Scottish or Saudi or Turkish league and still be within the criteria for the award.

"Merit is a stiff metric all by itself" ke grin
Leaving the logical problems of this statement I will just say that the basis for evaluating merit to that award is wide and AE was within it. If you can prove otherwise without self reference and circular reasoning, please do.

I said it earlier this week that the current crop of eagles are powering less fancied European sides to exceptional performances. Some were arguing with me while the facts continues to speak for itself

He is our Yaya Toure-MF Profile. No midfielder like him in our fold currently.

He started behind the striker today though before being pushed further forward after the striker got subbed out and was at the center of the action indeed even creating a few chances.

Like Nwakali being unique for his DLP profile, Uche is very unique as the closest MF profile to a Yaya Toure I have seen among our lads in the midfield pool home and abroad.
