daveP: A team made of the best players will also have drive too. You give everyone a fair opportunity. It takes a lot of drive to be the best out of a large pool of the best the country can offer. Fair selection over sentiments. 1 Like |

forgiveness:Category I - Very difficult but I'd pick Ighalo. He's far more mobile than Ike Uche and Martins and while he might not be as skillful and creative as Uche and Martins, he has a physical advantage over them. Category II - Kayode no brainer. Pacy, hardworking, he can offer us what Musa used to in the past. Category 3 - hmmm very very difficult. You wan set guys up abi I'd pick Nacho sha. Best finisher out of the lot and can pay as SS. Tammy would be a close second but an inform Ighalo can offer us what he does. Nacho's finishing ability is one we can't afford to leave behind. 2 Likes |

Icon79: Racism in the US is not always direct. It is often subtle. It is when you have lived long that you start to notice the signs and shut it down when possible. Sometimes, people grow up with stereotypes of what black people are like and run with it. It is systemic. I live in the east coast too. 9 Likes 1 Share |

Bingo! You nailed it with the stereotypes craps! In those days, anytime our coach talk about my game, his favorite adjectives were always "you're "big, strong, athletic" .... blah blah blah! He has never use the word skillful or talented to describe me! But he uses those words all the time when he talks about some of my team mates, especially the white folks. And you're quite correct .... these people can be very subtle. I don't consider myself naïve, but it took me more than one year (two seasons) to actually realize the hidden agenda behind most of his "constructive criticisms". And that happened after another kid from Africa (Kenyan) became part of the team, then a pattern began to emerge. It was quite an eye opening experience for me, I gotta tell ya! I once met a man who grew up in the New England area. He said he barely saw blacks while growing up, hence he was not taught to hate or discriminate against them. Same can be said about tribalism. People are not just born wit it, they are brought up with that consciousness. tbaba1234: |

Kog45: I have noticed an anomaly on this thread for sometime. It appears alot of people rate youngsters on the strength of club they play for. For goodness sake, the SI unit for measuring the ability of a player shouldn't be on the basis of which club hr plays for, rather you measure and judge a player by what he brings to the table. Solanke as far as I'm concerned haven't pulled any trees. We are talking about a guy who went on loan to Holland and came up short. If he was Dutch born, do you think he will be signed up by Liverpool on the strength of his showing in Eredivisie? What if he was Norwegian? Do you think he will be in Liverpool? I saw some highlights of a Chidera Ejike in Norway and to be honest, if that boy was born in Hackney, he will be playing for Tottenham or Arsenal. The IQ of this thread should go beyond judging people because of where they are born. Please we can do better than that. 10 Likes 1 Share |

Joebie: Sometimes, racism is more prevalent amongst people who did not grow up with blacks because their knowledge is often based on assumptions and stereotypes. Even amongst blacks, there is discrimination. Africans sometimes feel superior to black Americans because they are usually more educated and successful. Black Americans do not always want to identify with their African roots because of what they hear about Africa. Then you have the light skinned and dark skinned black dichotomy. 1 Like |

goldfish80: This is a guy that was awarded as the best player in the U20 world cup. Was so impressive at Liverpool he literally caused Divock Origi to go on loan to Wolfsburg who has now blocked the pathway of Osimhen completely. In this regard I will say think again. 3 Likes |

komekn: Solanke was not impressive when he went out on loan to an eredivise club. Osimhen pathway has not been 'blocked completely'. He has played the last couple of games. Besides, Solanke is older than Osimhen. I fully believe that Osimhen is not far away from being a starter 4 Likes |

My friend that process is not feasible today. I will give you reasons. 1. Most of our good players are abroad based 2. You will need an extended camping exercise to make selections and that will be difficult considering where they are based. 3. Having a full month camping before the World Cup will mean your so called best players will not be able to play enough games together for blending sake. It's one thing to pick the 'best' in all departments. It's yet another to have a TEAM. TheGoodJoe: |
