Mujtahida:

dontyou think Sampaoli is doing something pyschological to the mind of the Argentine team by getting them to play to win even without Messi such that when they have buikt up that mentality Messi will now be the bomb? is it not possible that he trying to know the weakest baseline of the argentineteam and getting them to work on it? this is why i am happy that Mikel is absent. wedont know our baseline as such(except the gk issue)and thatswhy i would have preferred rohr to rest Ekong or Balogun and field either Awaziem or Omeruo. oncea team can cope with its weakest baseline that team will be tough to beat.
I wonder how successful he has been with such tinkering so far

Bros, you can search youtube for the link. I haven't looked yet, but BeinSport (May God bless that station) has been replaying the game since Friday. And they would carry tonight's game as well.

True shaa. Guess we just have to wait to find out when both teams line up. I'm currently viewing Serbia's arrival at the stadium for the game via ACLSports on twitter.

I think Awaziem will start, everyone seems to be reporting it..

Did you watch Italy vs Argentina? After the very boring first half, the fans started chanting Messi's name grin

And they kept at it until Banega scored the first goal for Argentina. We call it Messi-dependence. But there's no shame in that ... even the mighty Barcelona often depends on the G-O-A-T as well grin grin

That statement I bolded is inconsequential in football... Football is all about winning matches and winning trophies.

In 5 years to come, nobody remembers who " played like champions and lost" ... People and history only remember those who won.

I see that you are only concerned about good football forgetting that those with end products are the only ones celebrated when it matters most.

Also you should know that it is extremely difficult to play good football and win at the same time especially when you are by far the underdog.

Someone had already told you earlier on that we are currently punching above our weight - that should give you an idea of our current level.... Meaning that

In other words, we should accept our winnings and celebrate them however they come!!!

I definitely celebrated our win and I'm still ruminating over it but that's not the point.

That statement you bolded becomes significant when you realize that I'm against the idea that we have arrived after our win against Poland as popular belief is.

I'm with the motion that we won dirty, and nobody wants to accept that. Everyone believes we outplayed Poland, when we were rubbish, while they were woeful. Ask yourself this, "if Poland had won, what would I have thought?".

Don't label me an anti.

Be very honest here brothers; from what you've seen, do you think Poland can beat Spain, in addition do you think Spain can beat Nigeria?
Spain can beat Poland and Nigeria, Nigeria can beat Spain.

D team is gradually taking shape, although am still not comfortable with d fact day we r lacking natural attacking midfielders, anyway let us see if Joel obi passes d test in dat position. But to me I prefer him in d CM position. In case he doesn't live up to expectations let rohr look for other options before d World Cup start proper. We can't go there with just Mikel cos anything can happen, All in all I wish d team success in today's friendly against Serbia it wont be easy but I see us winning.

History made then.....

Nigeria starts with an all "Oyibo wall" (foreign-borns) four man back line.... grin

Ebuehi-Ekong-Balogun-Idowu

Now this is what I really call "The Oyibo Wall reloaded" cheesy

Ah well... History retracted... Guess we have to wait till another time for this special "Oyibo wall reloaded" moment...

An intriguing midfield battle awaits us tonight particularly d one between ndidi Vs magic, would have loved to see John ogu too cos dat guy is really underrated and he offers d calming presence dat we r clamouring for in d absence of Mikel in d midfield, but anyway d coach knows best

Going by the line up tonight, I have three takeaways:

1. Uzoho and Ezenwa would definitely be on the plane to Russia.

2. Uzoho will be the starting goalkeeper.

3. The trio of Balogun, Ekong, and Idowu are almost guaranteed starting spots in the World Cup opener against Croatia.

Bros, No one is saying the SE has arrived. The purpose of friendlies is to build your team to perfection. Fine, We didn't play too well against Poland but considering where we are from, the quality of our players, and the game being played away from home, I think it wasn't a bad game. The area I disagree with, is basing SE (and Poland) strength on that single match. Our opponents will sure not do that because that can be suicidal for them.
I think we can match many of these top ranked teams. Of course my conviction about this is not based on our Performance against Poland alone

Serbia must collect their own too...

I am not sure about Beinsports international, but BeinSports USA is showing it at 10PM EST (delayed telecast, I believe). That's why I would be going offline in the next 1 hour .... I don't wanna hear the results before I watch the game grin

And by the way, if you have access to ESPN 3, Egypt vs Greece is on now .
