As a Nigerian fan I do not look at the branding of a big club to determine how good a player is. Kelechi is good but right now he is not the main answer up front for Nigeria. He is a work in progress. There are strikers who may not have the branding of a big club. But are effective and will cause huge problems for many defenders. A player who has had an opportunity to shine recently in this regard is Anichebe. If he had the good fortune to have lived in Nigeria he would have a football age of 22 as opposed to his real age of 28. He learned a lot from Yak they were actually quite close at Everton. So he has learned a lot only injuries have held up his progress. 1 Like |

komekn: Examples of the players. Sometimes, England celebrate mediocrity and disapprove brilliance. There is nothing special in the league. We have seen small clubs from other leagues beat big clubs in England. Many of the top English sides are switching philosophy. Look at the top teams in the EPL. Most of them now play in similar styles to other European leagues. Yet, these coaches top the table. The so called Hard, tough tackling teams languish below. By the way, Messi plays mostly with his left foot and won multiple Ballon d’Or awards. 2 Likes |

komekn: Iheanacho is one of the best finishers in Europe. He is one of the consistent scorers for the Super Eagles. So how would you rate a two game performance of Anichebe over Iheanacho? Anichebe who is a drought master. 1 Like |

BascoVanVeli: For us to put Anichebe on such level, he has to perform on a consistent level. He has not. I might sound harsh but that is the fact. Let us hope Anichebe keeps performing well. However, it is too early to rate him as the right man to spearhead the Super Eagles attack. 1 Like |

BascoVanVeli: The best thing is for Iheanacho to keep improving and not game time. As long as he keeps improving, the game time will come. Nacho should keep working hard to become one of the best in the World. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by komekn(m): 11:59pm On Nov 22, 2016 |
TheGoodJoe: The top 6 teams in the premiership are essentially European teams playing a more technical passing game. However, the bottom half are predominantly playing a more traditional English type game. I really think your patriotism is making you close to Delusional. Iheanacho one of the best finishers in Europe? He would have had to play at least three seasons at the top consistently scoring in excess of 25 goals to even be considered for that accolade. Anichebe was plagued by injury and essentially frozen out by Pulis. Anichebe creates a continous and very scary threat. 4 Likes |

Comparing Messi's left foot as a basis for justification for being left foot biased is unfair. This guy has the best left foot in the world by a huge margin, come on. |

TheGoodJoe: Best in the world no be by mouth or training u have to perform on the pitch before such can even be said. He has to be part of the fight, Yaya came back lean and trim but he didn't much except score 2 goals, u could tell he was match rusty. I am not giving up on Pep but i just wish he would speed up the process. |

komekn: Anichebe has not had a consistent scoring form in any way. So you can not put him as the solution to our attack. Let us hope his form continues. As for the bottom half, so called tough teams, their positions explain how mediocre that style is. Even in Championship, Newcastle dominates playing some sleek passing football. As for Nacho, a teenager in his first professional season pulling stats as good as the best in the game, including Messi, CR7 and Suarez shows pure quality. Already a key player. 2 Likes |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 3:26am On Nov 23, 2016 |
BascoVanVeli: Speed up the process? It does not work like that. It is going to get tougher with more players coming in. This is not an easy ride and just like Yaya Toure and Nasri, Nacho needs to train like a monster to get a regular shirt. When he achieves that, we know we have real quality. Playing time in a weaker team can not help him achieve that. |

And he's unto it again this season. Even the Epl official site and Twitter handles couldnt deny his "deadliness" and finishing prowess when the stats were collated. @Second bolded... You still doubt it? Stats are there Sir. @Third bolded.... More than Iheanacho?? komekn: |

Russia 2018 World Cup: NFF plots Cameroon’s fall with African friendlies The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has revealed that the Super Eagles would play two African countries, ahead of next year’s Russia 2018 World Cup qualifiers’ double header against Cameroon. The Eagles who made an excellent start in the race to Russia with two consecutive wins over Zambia and Algeria would August next year host Cameroon home and away in a space of four days in the second stanza of the qualifiers. President of NFF, Amaju Pinnick told Daily Sunsports exclusively that the soccer federation would prepare the Eagles for the two games with two international friendlies against African oppositions who play the same brand of football with the Central African country. Amaju noted that it would be counterproductive going for friendly matches against European countries when the next hurdle to cross is Cameroon. In Amaju’s words; “We have reasoned that it won’t make sense playing Germany or Wales when the Super Eagles would face a physical side like Cameroon. So, as we speak, we have secured a friendly against Senegal and we are working on playing Cote d’Ivoire.. Amaju stressed that the NFF would do everything possible to ensure the Eagles are not match rusty ahead of the Cameroon battle. Hear him: “Our aim is to ensure that we keep the players on their toes with the two available FIFA windows. We had gotten two top teams in the world but we had to tell them to relax because we cannot be playing against Germany or Wales when we are preparing against Cameroon. We need to play teams that are physical and combative side as Cameroon. The technical committee has put their heads together and reported to me and I have to give them go ahead. We are ensuring that everything we need to do is perfected. The qualifier is not a sprint but marathon. It needs endurance and persistence. We need to secure the maximum points to qualify. Agreed, we have started on very good and solid footing but we must have to look beyond that and consolidate. I held over an hour discussion with the coach, Rohr, on Monday and he revealed some new things he wants to do. At the end of the discussion, he told me to go and relax as he would get the job done.” Source: http://sunnewsonline.com/russia-2018-world-cup-nff-plots-cameroons-fall-with-african-friendlies/ 1 Like |

Ogu: I Like Challenges, I’m Ready To Fight For Super Eagles Midfield Shirt Completesportsnigera.com's JOHNNY Completesportsnigeria.com: How delighted are you returning to the Super Eagles after 15 months? Ogu: It’s a great feeling and experience, getting to work with a new coach and getting to compete with new players. For me it feels great to represent my country always and I want to show the coach I’m back and ready to make a good impact to the team positively. What's your impression about Gernot Rohr and what was his tactical plan like in the Algeria game? It was great. Working with a professional coach like him who has the aim of winning always and for me that is good for the team. Rohr likes hardworking players who are ready to fight for the team. He stands out among other coaches I’ve played under. He shows a wonderful experience and great knowledge of the game. We having a foreign coach is a big plus to the team and It’s a great way to move forward in our football. We have new set of players in the team battling for different positions, Ogu how has this challenged you, with the highly rated Wilfred Ndidi battling with you for a place in the team's midfield? I’m always ready for challenges, it was nice meeting those qualities we have now in midfield. We have a good squad now consisting of talented and young players, if am given the opportunity, I will help more with my own style of play because all the country needs now is to win games and win back the fans. The Eagles are stronger now with the new crops of players in the squad. Under Gernot Rohr, Super Eagles have recorded three wins and are currently leading their group in the 2018 World Cup qualifying series. With Cameroun coming to Uyo in nine months, what's are our chances of making it to Russia 2018 in your opinion? Yes, our chances are bright, but qualifying for the World Cup won't come without a fight from the Cameroonians. We have a good coach who is willing to give his best for the team, with this mentality; we have a big chance of beating Cameroun. We have played two games already and everyone could see the team has a big chance to make it to the World Cup. All we need to do is to maintain the philosophy and ensure that we take our chances during games. You have been a key player for Hapoel Beer Sheva this season with the Camels stretching their lead on the Israeli Lig Als table to five points last weekend over Maccabi Tel Aviv. What are your targets with your team this season? We will host Inter Milan on Thursday and we are confident that we will win to brighten our chances of qualifying for the next round of the competition. The game against Inter will determine our fate in the competition. We have to focus more and hopefully, with the support of our fans, we must stay in the competition. There have been several reports linking you away from Israel next summer. Would you see the new two year deal you signed at the club in July through? I am happy to have signed that deal and to continue playing for Hapoel Be'er Sheva is a source of joy to me. I moved to Israel two seasons ago and it has been great support and love I have been receiving, but who knows what can happen in the future. For now, I’m focused on getting Hapoel on the bigger map of world football. How would you rate your performance in this outgoing year? Playing games in the UEFA Europa League makes me much better and it also helps me compete at a level close to the UEFA Champions League. We are top of the table with five points and I am trying to build myself bigger to win games and win titles for my children. I am not looking forward to personal achievement, but I'm looking forward to a collective achievement in order to win titles. Thank you so much for finding time to talk with us Ogu. You're welcome. TheSuperNerd: I think you guys are saying different things entirely. You and GoodJoe are pointing out that Nacho is one of the most efficient strikers in Europe, not in any way the deadliest and we have Man city to thank for not giving him an oppurtunity to stamp his authority as one of the deadliest. Right now he is just part of the most efficient finishers and frankly nobody cares about that. Ronaldo wastes a lot of shots, doesn't prevent him from finishing each season as one of the top players. Saurez misses open chances like there is no tomorrow yet he is definetly the best no 9 in the world. The only person who combines deadliness and efficiency is Messi who was trained by Guardiola too, hence I do understand why the GoodJoe wants him to stay....but come on! Messi was a starter then, the golden boy, Nacho is nobody's golden boy over there, these are Arabs, all they want is money so let Nacho move. There are small teams with really good coaches, Howe is a good coach, Pardew is too and even Benitez, so Nacho should consider a move like seriously. 2 Likes |

safarigirl:The world has gone pass your line of thinking. If we want to go by your position, Americans and indeed the world would call Trump a German and unfit for POTUS. Those Brits see the likes of Alli, Iwobi, and Ibe as British and are not wrong to. As a matter of fact, they have enjoyed the privilege of British citizenship even before stardom. Anichebe flatters to deceive, that's why he has dropped down the ladder continuously. Nacho is the most clinical/most prolific/most efficient/deadliest finisher in Europe. If it doesn't matter to you then it does to a lotta people. **And Deadliest finisher is the right word (check link below). Nacho's stats in the EPL is still intimidating till today. He's got the best Goals-per-minute ratio in the History of the EPL and You say nobody cares?? Would the EPL have brought that to our notice if nobody cared?? You think players at his age last season were making such stats?? Even Messi didn't in his first professional season. So it does matter and it's not my fault the EPL official twitter handle acknowledged that earlier this year and same thing is happening even now. Check this out and tell me if you didnt see "deadliest finishers in europe" (this is as at April 25, 2016, we know the full story today): http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3558073/Kelechi-Iheanacho-better-minute-goal-ratio-Cristiano-Ronaldo-Lionel-Messi-Luis-Suarez-Manchester-City-forward-Europe-s-deadliest-player.html Mickael2:
