EEGA: Idowu isn't an upgrade on any player in the team currently. Even as a full back, he is comparable to Shehu. I don't see what he offers this tram that others don't do better. |

somehow: We have players performing well than them thats why If mikel was impressive in his first game i think he would have played all the games If balogun is playing well not bench oo then he can be there, if brazil can be taking 34 33 years old to tournament then who are we? you think brazil doesnt have younger players? I will take an epl or laliga stater who is 34 years old than a turkey league player who is 23 years old No be daniel alves just win copa america as first choice right back age 36? |

Ndidi and Etebo are too similar to play together One has to be sacrificed for a creative midfielder |

mostob: If he can't cross, then he is not "offensive" If he can't make the right decisions, then he isn't "offensive" "Offensive" and "Bryan Idowu" shouldn't be used in the same sentence until he improves. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by somehow: 10:20pm On Jul 15, 2019 |
Bro, in this tournament so far, all the CBs performed better than him. I wouldn't want a 33/34 years old defender in the world cup/nations cup when we have scores of young defenders that are willing to be groomed before then. We are spoilt for choices there bro. Balogun to me can't become better at that age.he's no goalkeeper. Maybe Brazil just do not have better defenders, hence the reason they are still sticking to these names (Names that are still playing top football in top clubs compared to Brighton and Hovens. Some of our young legs are playing in better clubs that needs invitation! andrew444: |

Paint it however u want, to me, both offensively and otherwise, Jamil Collins is crap. |

Shehu is not in form. Aina showed his form as a LB (not his natural position). in fact, we no get better midfielder for that bench. BascoVanVeli: |

there were other moments in that game Balogun didn't look convincing even after the error. I think lack of game tin in his clubside affected him andrew444: |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Joebie: 10:48pm On Jul 15, 2019 |
Rohr was too scared to try 3-5-2 all tourney. We may not have gone far but we would have been better offensively in that set up. Odunayaw: |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by edi287: 10:52pm On Jul 15, 2019 |
Earthquake2:Etebo is obviously the more attacking player. Rohr is the one who chooses to play him in a defensive position. Both can play together if they have a regista behind them. The Mikel - Ndidi - Etebo trio are good in the paper but the problem is Rohr just didn't know how to utilize them. 2 Likes |

Joebie: You don't like Shehu simple and plain. What kind of dirty form are you claiming from a guy who barely played one half? |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by edi287: 10:54pm On Jul 15, 2019 |
forgiveness:Exactly. I'm surprised he didn't do so. The funny thing is he wouldn't have needed to change too much for it. He already had Awaziem - Omeruo - Ekong as our 3 CBs, all he needed to do was decide who to bring on as wing backs and who would pair Ighalo/Musa upfront. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Earthquake2: 10:57pm On Jul 15, 2019 |
edi287: Which of them controlled the midfield against Algeria? Etebo is a box to box midfielder but controlling the midfield is not his forte, likewise Ndidi, Iwobi is not matured enough for that role So you basically have 3 midfielders who are not ball holders in the midfield tell me why your team won't suffer |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Earthquake2: 10:59pm On Jul 15, 2019 |
edi287: Guerdiola bossed the midfield yesterday relieving the pressure on his defence and some of even them went into attacking roles A controller is an attacking and defensive asset |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Earthquake2: 11:02pm On Jul 15, 2019 |
edi287: Rohr needed to play a counter attacking tactics because that's all his team could do You have Ndidi with a 70% pass accuracy, Etebo 60%,Iwobi 70% how can you control a game with this midfield? |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by edi287: 11:18pm On Jul 15, 2019 |
Earthquake2:Mikel of course. I said regardless of how he played against Madagascar that they'd come a time we'd need him. That time was yesterday but Rohr was his usual conservative self. I would started Mikel as a controller with Ndidi and Etebo playing in front of him, Iwobi out wide for Samu and Musa on the left. 1 Like |

Rohr try his best but his best is not good enough for the Super Eagles, his major problem in this AFCON is his inability to take risk by drafting more midfielders in the team but instead he prefers to go with a large number of forwards. Sacking Rohr seems to be the best option but a very risky option as the incoming coach might perform worst than Rohr. Past experiences as shown that bringing in a new coach does not guarantee success all the time. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Earthquake2: 11:21pm On Jul 15, 2019 |
edi287: Iwobi was disastrous on the wings and Musa's best position is on the left |

edi287: Are you guys still touting Mikel? Mikel has paid his dues and has given us 2013 AFCON. Mikel has regressed badly. Whether as an AM or CM or DLP, I doubt there's much he can do. Let us look to grooming younger talents. Mikel has little or nothing to offer at this stage of his career. Please, let us look to the future 1 Like |
