chaiks:It depends especially on what you can afford.. I'd encourage you in addition to the advices from da gurus in da house you continue your research and identify the cost of living expenses in those cities you mentioned/desire. Afterwards, ensure you meet their admission requirements before sending your application. #MyCentAdvice 1 Like |

un48table: Good morning haus. It seems the procedure for securing appointments for student visa interview in Lagos has changed (from observation I made on the website). For those who sent an email and no confirmation yet, maybe you should try this. Go to: https://service2.diplo.de/rktermin/extern/choose_realmList.do?locationCode=lago&request_locale=en Click "continue" under VISA Then you'll see - Long term Visa (Students only) - Long term visa (family reunion, work permit etc NOT STUDENTS) - Short term visa (Schengen States) Continue to "Long term Visa (Students only)". There are many open slots there. Hope this is useful. 3 Likes |

@All Please people lets respect each other's view here regarding life outside Nigeria. Saying things as its doesn't mean you are negative and presenting positive perspective doesn't mean that you will be successful, the important thing here is to be realistic and honest to yourself. Please let's not shout people down because we don't like what that person is saying or accuse somebody of painting rosey pictures. Having both sides of argument is healthy because it prepares you for the challenges ahead. This is the reality..not everyone will make it outside Nigeria, accept that. 6 Likes |

We should desist from insulting Schwartz, you can all make your points and move on. I talk to so many people and I have seen many guys here who share the same opinion but that doesn't mean the optimistic people are not right too. Why do you think many people go missing after moving over? Have you all ever asked yourself? It's because many had overtly high hopes, came here and were disappointed and get to ashamed to appear at all. If your intention is to come over to make enough money to build houses and send cars the way futurewise11 and many have painted it, the chances that you will be disappointed will be quite high. However, if you intend to study in world class schools at a very cheap rate then Germany is the right place for you. You can dream or take charge of other opportunities later, things can work better than you expected. You can work and take care of your rent, insurance and feeding. You can buy a few cloths here and there, take yourself to treats once in a while, travel around Europe, encounter way more less stress applying for a US or Canadian visa with a far higher chance of success; world class health care for peanuts, good security of life and property, beautiful and clean environment, associate with citizens of different parts of the world. May be do some holiday jobs every now and then to have a few thousands in your bank account but don't come here thinking you will be an Adenuga or Dangote overnight. Don't think the work is easy either way. You think Africans are strong? Germans are machines! You will be on your feet to earn every cent, you will learn the value of money and time. That's when reality will dawn on you. However, don't dispair when that time comes because it's just a phase, it won't last forever as you are fighting for a higher course. No pain, no gain! Let me address the matter that started this, electronics like laptops and phones are more expensive here. I don't think Germany have a major smartphone manufacturer. What 85% of the people here use are either Samsung or iPhone. Cars can be cheaper but note that the German cars are known to be quite expensive although durable. Why do you think Nigeria is flooded with Asian cars like Toyota, Kia and Honda, etc. ? Although you can find older models for cheap. But to send them to Nigeria, it has to be less than 10 years old, and e no go cheap like that except for buses. (That's why Vanagon buses are popular in Nigeria). I will later give you a story of two indian and two Bangladeshi acquaintances with different stories of after graduation jobs. May be that will also give answers to some of our questions. Oga willy2000, we go see.. 12 Likes 1 Share |

@okezie, tnks for ur reply. I v checked and I see living are costlier in those cities. But I expect that things one can do should be available there with commensurate pay if I am right. Concerning d admission requirements, I I'll check further. Presently only with my references, sop, transcript of 4.49 GPA, a letter from my school showing that I was taught in English. |

This embassy sef, they should have told us about the latest method of application for student visa, instead of allowing us to be waiting for non-existent mail, losing valuable time in the process. I just succeeded in booking for the visa interview on 10th August after waiting for 5 good days for an email from embassy 1 Like |

biglord: brother thank you.. i really do not understand this grading thing. I and my cousin applied for admission into Rhine Waal University of applied sciences. Our CGPAs are 3.1 and 2.6 respectively we already paid the uni-assist application fee on Thursday thru wire transfer, but we can still adjust our uni-assist application as it has not yet been received in Germany. please advise us so we do not make mistakes. Question 1: (my CGPA is 3.1) I applied for masters degree (Rhine Waal *German* GPA cut off is 2.5) ...with 3.1 am I qualified for masters in that school Question 2: (Cousins CGPA) Is he qualified for masters in the same school (Rhine Waal *German* GPA cut off is 2.5)....with 2.6 is he qualified for masters in that school. Question 3: please which other school in Germany can I apply for both of us Question 4: How long does it take to process German study visa for Nigeria. I applied for winter admissions |
